Judge Tim Kelly turned down a request to block the implementation of Governor Bobby Jindal’s voucher plan.
The judge said that Commissioner John White and Commissioner of Administration both said in affidavits that an injection would blow a $3.4 billion deficit in the state budget. So the case will proceed as will the vouchers, charters, cyber charters and every other kind of raid on the minimum foundation funding for Louisiana public schools.
According to local sources, Judge Kelly just happens to be the spouse of the former Commissioner of Administration (Angele Davis) in the Jindal administration.
Lucky break for the Governor!
Bought and paid for! Louisiana politics at one of its finest points! I AM ready to scream and pull my hair out! Judge Kelly should have never agreed to take this case.
And he didn’t recuse himself?
I’m angered by this moronic decision. So angered, I don’t know where to begin. Hopefully I can thread together a few coherent thoughts.
I guess this is Louisiana’s version of educational peonage. I should, but I’m not shocked that the judge failed to recuse himself. This is not surprising due to Louisiana’s long history of political corruption. What I’m troubled by most is the fact that the rule of law, the state constitution, and now it appears, the U.S. constitution no longer apply in within the borders of Louisiana.
Perhaps Piyush Jindal should join Rick Perry next door, succeed from the union, then form TexLouie or LouieTex. They both agree on rejecting Federal money that will allow the expansion of Medicaid in their states. Rick supports the anti-critical thinking in the Republican state plank, and it appears that Jindal supports a similar anti-intellectual ethos in Louisiana.
Both of these gents are perfect together. Sadly though, the residents of Louisiana really lose out.
Here’s hoping that this nonsense will be beaten back by the Federal courts. Unless of course, they both believe in nullification. We shall see.
“then form TexLouie or LouieTex.” How about Louisiassas
