Trump must spend a lot of time redesigning the nation’s Capitol. Tearing down the East Wing, without asking anyone’s permission; building a “triumphal arch” that will tower over the area; paving over the Rose Garden installed by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy; turning the historic White House Treaty Room, where important documents were signed, into a guest bedroom.
He is treating the White House as if it were his private property, when in fact he has a four-year lease on a historic home.
His latest project is to drain and repaint the reflecting pool that connects the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial. He decided that the pool should be painted swimming pool blue. It’s been drained and the painting has begun.
The contract was awarded without competitive bids. Trump chose a swimming pool contractor who worked on the pool at one of his clubs.
Trump seems to think that he can do whatever he wants, without regard to law, tradition, or rules. Not for him!
Here is a gift article describing the situation.
At least, he didn’t paint it gold!

Of course. And the Supreme Court Justices that he appointed need to be loyal to the man who appointed them.
Yesterday, he posted that the SC should go back to the tariff decision and add one tiny sentence that says the tariff money does not have to be paid back.

Of course, just that one little sentence, to not repay the tariffs.
Why not suggest just one little word inserted here and there: “NOT.” That completely reverses the decision.

CHINA HAS WON THE IRAN WAR — “Operation Epic Fury” has become “OPERATION EPIC FAILURE”.
Do you wonder why Trump suddenly stopped his war against Iran? Here’s why:
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait SENT A STERN WARNING TO TRUMP when they for a while refused to allow the U.S. to launch any more air strikes against Iran from U.S. bases in their territories.
WHY DID THEY DO THAT? Because The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) reports that the U.S. military has EXPENDED HALF OF ITS INVENTORY of key missile/drone defense weapons, and it likely became clear to all these nations that the weakened U.S. is no longer able to protect their oil refineries and cities from Iranian retaliation strikes if they allow the U.S. to launch attacks from bases in their countries.
Saudi Arabia and the rest of the world have seen the SATELLITE PHOTOS of the widespread destruction that Iran’s drones and missiles have inflicted on U.S. bases and weaponry. American media are afraid to show these satellite photos out of fear the Trump will terminate their broadcast licenses.
HOW DID THIS DISASTER FOR AMERICA HAPPEN? The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has just released a report showing that while Trump has claimed that he had “obliterated” Iran’s weapons, the actual fact is that Iran still has up to 75% of its weapons intact and ready to launch. Years ago, Iran had constructed weapons depots deep inside mountains where even U.S. “bunker buster” bombs can’t reach them.
THAT MEANS that the U.S. likely has barely enough — and maybe not even enough — defensive missiles to protect its ships and bases, let alone protect Arab nations’ oil fields and cities.
SO, the Iran war is realistically over, and as Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz said, THE U.S. HAS BEEN “HUMILIATED” in the eyes of the entire world.
TRUMP SAYS that Iran is “begging” for a peace deal — but the rest of the world knows that it’s Trump who’s doing the begging because the U.S. economy is tanking and elections are getting near.
CHINA IS WATCHING ALL THIS as the U.S. military takes weapons from the U.S. Navy’s Pacific fleet and from U.S. military bases in the Pacific to defend itself in Iran, leaving the Navy Pacific Fleet and the Army’s Pacific bases with barely enough weapons to defend themselves and not enough to stop China from attacking Taiwan.
IF CHINA DECIDES that now or very soon is a ripe time to attack Taiwan, the U.S. economy will collapse because nearly every industry depends on computer chips from Taiwan. While the U.S. is playing catch-up to replace weapons, CHINA’S WEAPONS STOCKPILE IS RAPIDLY PULLING AHEAD.
WHAT A DISASTROUS MESS FOR AMERICA!!!
THANK YOU, TRUMP — thanks for our nation’s loss of world leadership and for skyrocketing prices for food and fuel. And all this was done just to distract our attention from The Epstein Papers.
“Operation Epic Fury” = “Operation Epic Failure”
The only “Epic Fury” we feel now is the epic anger that rises in us when we go grocery shopping and fill our gas tanks.

I just read that the Iran attack has been helping keep the Russian economy from collapsing during the Ukraine War by boosting the price of Russian oil exports. Based on what Putin said on Saturday, the Ukraine War might have to end soon if the Iran attack ceases. What a world.

LCT,
Meanwhile Putin is supplying the intelligence about location of U.S. bases to Iran, which has used that info to wipe out our bases. But that won’t get in the way of Trump’s adoration of Putin.

No Bid Contracts. This is exactly what Dictators like Trump to in order to do what they want when they want. This exactly what Dictators do to please their friends and fill his/her pockets as well as their with easy money. To hell with the laws that everyone else has to follow. This is an example of the Trump Grifting Family. Every one of them and Trump is the lead example they follow.

And we haven’t even got into the dirty business of selling pardons. There’s a list of very rich people who gave campaign contributions, hired the right lawyer, got a presidential pardon. There is an even longer list of requests from people who were wrongfully convicted but don’t have the millions to buy a pardon.

A friend has a thesis about the beginning of the Twenty-first Century: The central theme of this historical period is corruption.
I would love for someone to persuade me he is wrong. It would help my spirits considerably

Instead of corruption, I’d say it’s something generally appliable. Specially, unbridled selfishness.

Roy, I vote for uncontrolled greed, instead. Corruption is just the result of lack of control.
The laws need to be rewritten to control guns, lies, and greed more thoroughly and effectively. Personally, I start believing that our legislators are serious when they announce extra tax on the billionaires.
I am lucky that I can watch the Hungarian videos in which the new PM personally shows people around in buildings that were built and decorated from taxpayers’ money for the ruling class of Orbán’s regime. Very satisfying to be assured that two decades of kleptocracy has now ended, and the accountability has started. This should be the near future here in the US right after Trump’s fall.

There’s no such thing as a guilty conscience in the red crowd at all now and that’s especially scarry when they attack you personally. I know because I’ve had neighbors who hate me, which I think is for being Jewish and a Democrat, that have attacked me in a wide variety of ways for years. Primarily, they’ve hidden behind stealth tactics, so I’ve only been an ear witness and could not prove they were the source of a long list of all the things that they’ve done.
Meanwhile, I believe it was they who recently hacked into my bank account and purchased a number of items, from online places where I’ve never shopped, and even after I reported that to my bank, they did it again so something slipped by and I got a notice that a package was coming in the mail to me from Haden, ID –where I know no one. I only know that it’s the home of the Aryan Nations.
That really scared the hell out of me, because I imagined that a bomb or ricen or some other toxin was inside, so I had to tell my mailman in advance that I didn’t want it delivered and planned to refuse it –which he did for me, thankfully. (I’m not sure how it’s playing out now but they recently moved out of my building and it’s been since then that things got worse, because, I suspect, they have less to lose now, so I’m truly afraid for my life…)

BTW, I didn’t know anything about the group that I’ve been dealing before (for the past 6 years!), but they are people here who came from Russia that support Trump AND Putin! (Who knew?)

BTW, Unlike the people mentioned in the article I referred to above, those who I’ve been dealing with are NOT Russian Jews.

Because of the painting of the Reflecting Pool, it now barely reflects. So, the entire point of the design is lost. This is not surprising because Trump is a moron with no taste, a bun uncultured lowlife. It’s going to cost billions to undo the damage he has done, including the bulldozing of his fascist monuments and his ridiculous pomposity of a ballroom.

I used to live in D.C. and would often take my daughter to the Mall. We loved the Reflecting Pool, which Trump has now destroyed.

In a just world, this vandal, Trump, would be forced to pay for the demolition of the monstrosities he is building and the restoration of the places he is desecrating.
