The Associated Press reports that Republicans in Congress released a bipartisan budget bill that funds the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The bill ignores Trump’s efforts to rename it as the Trump Kennedy Center. The bill also ignores Trump’s desire to rename the Center’s opera house for his wife Melania. (Who knew Melania is a patron of opera?)
So Republicans are willing to stand up to Trump on small matters like name-change but not on major issues like his rejecting Congressional authority over going to war and kidnapping the President of another nation. Actually the name-change might mean more to the egotistical Trump.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump may have his name on the building, but it’s still the Kennedy Center to Congress.
A bipartisan spending package released Monday by House Speaker Mike Johnson includes $32 million for operating expenses at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts through Sept. 30, 2027.
Trump made a series of leadership changes at the center shortly after he took office in 2025 that ended with the Republican president’s handpicked board of trustees voting in December to rebrand the venue as the Trump Kennedy Center by adding his name to Kennedy’s on the exterior of the building and the website.
The Kennedy Center said the vote recognized Trump’s work to revitalize an institution he had criticized as being too liberal-leaning. But since he took over the center, numerous artists have canceled appearances, ticket sales and attendance have fallen, and viewership for December’s broadcast of the Kennedy Center Honors program — which he predicted would soar because he was the host — was down by about 35% compared to the 2024 show.

I hope Republicans will enjoy performances by such cultural touchstones as Kid Rock, Vanilla Ice, Kiss and Jason Aldean.

So are they going to force him to remove his name?

Who knows?
If a Democrat is elected in 2028, all his vainglorious projects will be renamed.

TRUMP VIOLATES THE U.S. CONSTITUTION AND HIS OATH OF OFFICE
Here are the facts:
The United States is a signatory of the United Nations Charter which is a treaty between all the member nations.
This treaty says in Article 2(4) that all member nations, which includes the United States, cannot use either the threat force or actual force against the territorial integrity or political independence of ANY nation. There are no exceptions for anything, including law enforcement actions.
Article VI of the United States Constitution says that all treaties that the United States has signed and ratified “SHALL BE THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND.” Therefore, the provisions of the United Nations treaty are “the Supreme Law” of the United States.
The Trump Administration violated the United Nations Treaty and also violated Article VI of the U.S Constitution by invading Venezuela and seizing Maduro, making the seizure of Maduro unconstitutional.
Trump swore in his Presidential Oath of Office that he would “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.“ By violating the Constitution’s Article VI Trump has breached his Oath of Office.
THEREFORE, Trump has both violated Article VI of the Constitution and violated his Oath of Office, each of which is an impeachable act.
SO, TRUMP has good reason to fear impeachment if Congress goes Democratic in this year’s midterm elections — therefore, ICE will increase its brutality in order to trigger powerful protests that Trump will use to invoke The Insurrection Act, declare Martial Law, and suspend elections.
THERE WON’T BE ANY MIDTERM ELECTIONS, and Trump will invade Greenland, destroying NATO for Putin.

The First Lady decorated the WH in 2025 with 51 Christmas trees, the 51st being for Washington DC. Who knew Melania thought DC should be a state?
Of course, MAGATs, their leader and the GOP would not try to make DC a state because it’s largely inhabited by black people –who tend to vote for Democrats– and that would add more representatives from the wrong party to Congress. Maybe they think they’ve figured out a way to allow their own peeps who work in DC to be able to be counted as residents and vote there? It’s not supported by the Constitution, but they have repeatedly shown us lately how they are easily able to circumvent the Constitution… I highly doubt that would occur, but it should not surprise us if that does somehow happen.

Yes. Easily accomplished. It is the work of the current Extreme Court, under Roberts and Glorious Leader Trump and not under the law, to circumvent the Constitution to achieve the ends of Trump and the oligarchical billionaires whom he serves.

Yes, they have definitely been able to circumvent the Constitution way too easily these days, due to SCOTUS, Congress etc looking the other way so much now. But other than enabling more convenient voting for the people who work in but don’t live in DC full time (many of whom could easily vote by mail), what would be the advantage to making DC a state for the GOP, MAGA and oligarchs?
(Wanting places like Greenland, Venezuela etc., I comprehend, because then they can steal natural resources and also implement their contemporary interpretation of the Monroe Doctrine so that they control all of the western hemisphere. But why DC?)
