Adam Zyglis of the Buffalo News was supposed to have a showing of his drawings in Buffalo. But it was canceled due to threats from MAGA people who don’t like his artwork or his politics.

This cartoon, in particular, was denounced by rightwing media, who agreed it was “vile.”

Who is stopping free speech these days? I would say the party that is censoring foreign student’s phones, ensuring any content they don’t agree with is either shut down or the creator’s are doxed (or worse), and their leader is spewing actual hate speech on the 4th of July.
The mouthpiece for this party has had to pay millions for promoting lies while the leader pushes the country towards fascism quicker than you can say constitution. With help, of course, from the highest court.
Freedom of the press and free speech is being limited to what is agreeable to the administration, everything else be damed.

I want the Wanker in the White House at this time to end up with the same fate as King Louis XVI of France, who lost his head on January 21, 1793, executed by guillotine.

I haven’t gotten down to that level of particularity yet, I was thinking more along the lines of what was said of Sir Edward Grey, Foreign Secretary in the Asquith government, at the start of WWI, “In the name of God, just go!”

From Democratic pol Nina Turner on X:
“The GOP’s budget cuts to NOAA are set to take effect at the start of fiscal year 2026, which begins on October 1, 2025. Anyone making the deaths of the children in Texas about partisan politics is morally bankrupt. Please reflect.”

While it may be true that this disaster was too soon to place blame on NOAA cuts specifically, one needs to realize that Republicans have dominated the state of Texas for almost a generation. A warning system was not installed because it would have caused people with money to pony up more taxes.
It also seems true that FEMA was delayed in their response to the disaster.

Did you make a similar comment about the wildfires in Los Angeles, California, when Trump and his klepto-kakistocracy regime blamed the mayor of LA and the governor of California for the lost lives and property damage caused by those wildfires?
President Donald Trump has publicly criticized California’s Governor, Gavin Newsom, regarding the state’s wildfire management and specifically blamed him for the damages caused by wildfires.
In the context of the wildfires that raged in Southern California in January 2025, Trump accused Governor Newsom of prioritizing environmental policies, particularly related to water usage and protecting the delta smelt, over managing the fires effectively. He claimed that these policies led to a lack of water for firefighting efforts and consequently exacerbated the fire damage.
Reality check: There was plenty of water in SoCal reservoirs during the LA fires
But the city’s water pipes, storage tanks, and fire hydrants could not keep up with the unprecedented needs of firefighters.

The damage caused by wildfires in California and elsewhere is at least partially a result of fanatical environmentalists who oppose clearing of old trees which would create firewalls. American Indians often knew enough to do that long ago and modern forestry experts do, too. This problem has been well-documented, although not on the ultra-partisan sites read by this blog’s host and commenters.

Sadly, MAGA cultists cannot see the connection between their Orange Jesus’ “drill baby drill” mantra and dead girls floating in the water in Texas. Climate instability is with us here and now and the Russia RepubliQan answer is to burn more fossil fuels. Just keep shutting down scientific research, NOAA, etc so the Assaulter in Chief and his merry band of coup-plotting traitors can determine what fact is for us. It’s what they do in Russia and North Korea so why not here with MAGA crayon eaters?

Why did I think Marsha Bradford is a troll?
She changed the topic, blaming the wildfires in LA on environmentalists, which has little to nothing to do about those wildfires.
THE FACTS:
Governor Newsom has been actively implementing measures to address wildfire risk in California, including strategies that align with traditional land management practices.
Key actions and strategies
In essence, California’s approach to wildfire prevention involves a multifaceted strategy that includes modern scientific approaches alongside the integration of traditional land management techniques, such as prescribed and cultural burning, recognizing their historical and ecological significance in shaping healthy, fire-adapted landscapes.

Vile is the fact that FEMA removed DOZENS of Camp Mystic buildings from The Official Flash Flood Map. At the camp owners’ request! Exemptions from basic flood regulation sealed the fate of these children.
It was ALL about the $$$. These appeals & exemptions were attempts at avoiding flood insurance expense or limiting the expense. The expansion of the For Profit Camp went forward without flood plain regulation.
Camp Mystic Director & Co-Owner Dick Eastland was a Gov. Abbott appointed member of the Upper Guadalupe River Authority. Eastland was also a member in the late 1980s, when 10 children died nearby as their church bus was swept into the river. Dick Eastland left the youngest children in the exempted cabin closest to the raging river overnight even though he had received a warning at 1 PM the day before 7/3. He died in his pickup, washed away by the water.
