Right after the election, Trump announced that he had chosen Matt Gaetz, Congressman from Florida, as his choice to be Attorney General of the United States. The AG is the highest ranking officer of the law in the nation.
Faced with strong opposition, including enough Republican votes to stop him, Gaetz withdrew from the nomination.
Today the House Ethics committee released its long-awaited report.
(CNN) — The House Ethics Committee found evidence that former Rep. Matt Gaetz paid tens of thousands of dollars to women for sex or drugs on at least 20 occasions, including paying a 17-year-old girl for sex in 2017, according to a final draft of the panel’s report on the Florida Republican, obtained by CNN.
The committee concluded in its bombshell document that Gaetz violated Florida state laws, including the state’s statutory rape law, as the GOP-led panel chose to take the rare step of releasing a report about a former member who resigned from Congress.
“The Committee determined there is substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz violated House Rules and other standards of conduct prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, impermissible gifts, special favors or privileges, and obstruction of Congress,” panel investigators wrote.
The panel investigated transactions Gaetz personally made, often using PayPal or Venmo, to more than a dozen women during his time in Congress, according to the report. Investigators also focused on a 2018 trip to the Bahamas – which they said “violated the House gift rule” – during which he “engaged in sexual activity” with multiple women, including one who described the trip itself as “the payment” for sex on the trip. On the same trip, he also took ecstasy, one woman on the trip told the committee.
What does this say about Trump’s judgment?

On Trump’s judgment. If he intends to tear down the Constitution and the whole U. S. Government, and piss off every ally in the world, his judgments are right-on. CBK

Trump’s lack of sound mature judgement has never been in question. It is understood by those with any common sense that Trump is only in the political game for what he can get out of it personally. Of course, common sense and good judgement is not common especially for these virtues when it comes to Trump and his supporters
What is in question is the judgement as well as the moral and ethical standards of all the people helped vote him back into office.

I suspect Trump knew of these activities, and has participated in these and more down through the years. The real question is why behaviors much less damning have ruined the political careers of many democrats. I am sure there are political figures from all sides of every question who have participated in these spasms of dereliction. It seems, however, that only Democrats hold each other responsible for these ethical lapses.

He claims his privacy rights were ignored and everything on that report is a lieAlong with his lie that he was not allowed to refute the allegations.

Gaetz tried to stop the release by threatening to reveal the secret MeToo records of other members of Congress.

Why not just release those names?
Because he lacks two c-words–conscience and cojones.

I have to laugh when I drive around Northwest Florida and look at a few remaining tattered signs reading, “Keep Gaetz Fighting!” Like most of the derelict, disgraced members of the GOP, Gaetz is falling into a cushy gig with a blowhard show on OAN so he can spread his poison to a larger audience of gullible fools. Like Trump the only person Gaetz has ever fought for is himself.

206 House Representatives voted against releasing the report. Is your local paper reporting that? Asking them why? Ask them why. The “Free Press” and our vote is all the checks and balance we’ve got left.
Did Trump claim to have vetted him?
Did Trump know and chose to ignore it?
Did Trump get tips (had be hundreds) and choose to ignore them?
Why was this a right out of the box appointment? Orchestrated?

Such important questions!
What did Trump know?
Surely he knew Congress was investigating Gaetz. Did he care?

I think Donald The John Trump’s history with women, dozens reported sexual abuse from The John, some shared horrifing stories of what The John did to them, including an accusation of rape from a 13-year old, her age when she says The John raped her, is worse than Gaetz paying for sex, even to a 17 year old.
Still, there’s an old saying that birds of a feather flock together, and, with The John’s history [including a rape conviction in court by a jury] with women, explains why The John wanted Gaetz to lead the DOJ.
