After Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in 2017, he choose respected FBI veteran Christopher Wray to replace Comey. The FBI Director is appointed for a ten-year term, to insulate the Director from partisan influence.
Senator Chuck Grassley is the ranking Republican on the Senate Committee on the Budget.
In this letter, directed to Director Wray, Grassley says he is finished and it’s time to pack his bag. He explains why. The heart of the matter is that he failed to investigate Republican claims that Biden was corrupt, but approved a search of Trump’s home for classified documents.
Next up is the odious Kash Patel, nominated by Trump to be FBI Director. Patel is a MAGA ideologue who has said that if appointed, on day one, he would close the FBI Headquarters and re-open it as a “museum of the deep state.”
Let’s see what Senator Grassley says about the unqualified Patel.

I guess it’s really in the Congressional GOP’s hands now. Considering that we wouldn’t be “here,” if it weren’t for their history of insane omissions of responsible duty to their oaths, it’ll take better bribes or more fearful threats (than they are accustomed to) to own up to their Congressional responsibilities.
The looming question is whether they are ready and willing to give up what power they have left (pun intended) to an insane maniac, or risk losing it anyway at the hands of that same maniac who may or may not have to yield to a waked-up (to reality) electorate? CBK

It was in the other note here about the history of reality that the historian Richardson writes about. That is:
If the GOP owns reality, as they think they do, then either they or WE are in a reality-bubble. It makes perfect sense, (from inside their reality bubble) at least for those of us who view it from outside, who study such things as the history of relativism and its march towards nihilism.
Another historical aside (that I don’t have the citation for) is that the shooting death of that Healthcare (<-?) CEO was relatively predictable (in a general way), even from FDR’s view–one reason he broke with his wealthy buddies was that he knew that the “have-nots” that they helped create and who they lived off of and sucked the life out of, would only stand as civilized beings for so long without revolting–and as the Unabomber wrote, THAT reality too easily tips over to violence and a war between “classes,” which the rich too-often win.
That’s not an endorsement of violence, by any means, but the Unabomber was following an all-too-real problem of a person being up against the wall of losing one’s and one’s family’s existential well-being. CBK

Has no one pointed out that Grassley has no authority to fire the FBI Director, that he is just following Trump’s lead in assuming powers that he wants, whether or not they exist?

I’m thinking that the convicted rapist, fraud and felon, who is a malignant narcissist, sociopath and megalomaniac is going to ignore the courts and Congress and barge full speed ahead like a ruthless Putin style dictator, without brakes, pushing his agenda as hard as possible, using threats and maybe violence ordered by him for his domestic allies, the Christian nationalist Ku Klux Klan fascist MAGA cult, like they did on January 6, 2021.
As soon as he pardons all the insurrections already in prison and they are released he’ll have his ruthless, fascist, dangerously insane shock troops back. All he has to do is sign an executive order giving them a presidential order to go ahead and shoot anyone that stands in their way.
The president of the Heritage foundation did say their coup would only be bloodless if the liberals didn’t fight back.
After all, the US Supreme Court ruled Presidents are immune for what they do in office.
To bad Biden doesn’t take advantage of that and declare martial law before january 20, 2025, with support from the US military [I don’t think there will be problem with the generals and admirals], voiding the results of the 2024 election, to defend the US Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic, which is Trump, his entire administration that he is putting together, and his allies, which includes MAGA, Putin and North Korea.
I wonder if Trump and his allies think the US military is led by liberals.
