Vince McMahon, embattled former CEO of WWE, sued for allegedly enabling sexual abuse
“A new lawsuit alleges Vince McMahon knowingly enabled the sexual exploitation of children by a WWE employee in the 1980s.
“The suit, filed on behalf of five former WWE “Ring Boys,” alleges McMahon, his wife Linda McMahon, the WWE, and TKO Group Holdings, the league’s parent company, knowingly allowed former ringside announcer Melvin Phillips, Jr. to use his position to sexually exploit children as young as 12 and 13 years old.”
Linda McMahon is a nonsense choice for the Department of Education. Her career has been devoted to taking a regional professional wrestling company and converting it into a publicly traded wrestling company. McMahon’s experience in education consists of planning to become a teacher (but never doing so) and serving for one year (in 2009) on the Connecticut Board of Education. Those credentials do not qualify McMahon to lead the Department of Education—but they may qualify her to dismantle it. See ABC News, Dismantling the Department of Education? Trump’s plan for schools in his second term.
I have never thought that Trump had much intellectual acuity, but he does have vision. All of his appointments are pretty worthless yet he is showing his intention to basically neuter the Republican Party by daring them to turn down his appointments. Maybe Democrats should simply support all of these picks and watch as the whole thing comes tumbling down. Congress still has an election coming in two years, and given the consistency of climate change, I’m willing to bet a significant natural disaster will expose the incompetence of the administration as did Katrina. I guess the appointment of McMahon means that Trump gets free box seats to WWE events or it will allow him to step into the ring and bash Vince again. The problem is that the mess will be so profound that I see no one on the horizon with the capacity to clean it up.
It almost doesn’t matter. She was a loyalty pick. Major PAC and fundraising. Didn’t get Commerce and had to give her something. She’s more of an Ambassador appointment – reward for support.
And, a puppet!
They have their targets in DOE. What to eliminate and what structures to use to weaponize: prayer, privatization, conditions on grants (as are pushed in MO) – no contracts let to companies or recipients who require DEI training, federal tax voucher program.
We educators can continue to bitch & moan about the downfall of our education system in the US, but we all need to keep reminding ourselves of something we’ve known for the past 40 years or so–the Oligarch Privatizers want to take over the education system for two reasons–profit for them taken from our tax dollars, and to allow the Oligarch class to control the masses through (lack of) education. Done.
Thanks for the pithy and thoughtful analysis. Love the bingo card image.
And, yeah, “how low can they go”?
Answer: pretty damn low.

Slash executive orders.
Downsize and put more people out of work.
