Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post wrote a summary of Trump’s lies. No one can detail all of them, there were so many. During Trump’s term in office, the Post’s fact-checker used to keep count. He–Glenn Kessler–attributed more than 30,000 lies to Trump during his presidency. Since then, Trump has had four years to lie some more.
Here is Rubin’s overview of “The lies of Donald Trump.”
What caught my eye
Trump is a master liar. There are his insulting lies (Vice President Kamala Harris is “mentally disabled”). Then there are his xenophobic (“They are eating the dogs, the people that came in. They’re eating the cats.”) and antisemitic (saying Jews will be responsible if he loses) lies.
There are his economically ignorant falsehoods (e.g., foreign countries pay tariffs). There are his lies to raise resentment and anger at the current administration (e.g., it is denying aid to hurricane victims, crime is rising, tens of thousands of migrant murderers are running loose). There are his lies to deflect blame (e.g., former House speaker Nancy Pelosi is responsible for the attack on Jan. 6, 2021; sexual assault victim E. Jean Carroll, who successfully sued Trump for defamation twice, was lying). There are his lies about Democrats (e.g., they favor infanticide).
Trump also recycles numerous lies about the American people (e.g., everyone wanted to repeal Roe v. Wade, women love him) and his own record (e.g., his economy was the “greatest” ever, he had a perfect callwith Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, troops under his command suffered only “headaches” from an Iranian attack). He even lies about what he said (e.g., denying he ever signaled openness to restricting contraception). His lies undermining democracy might be the most dangerous (e.g., he won in 2020, millions of illegal immigrants are registering to vote).
We should not forget the “merely” ludicrous assertions of his own powers. (e.g., Hamas would not have attacked Israel if he were president, he could “settle” the Ukraine war) and dystopian predictions if he loses (e.g., we won’t have a country, there will be a “bloodbath”). And his absurd conspiracy theories can never be disproven (e.g., the Deep State). His exaggerations about his wealth, his physical health and his cognitive performance are among the most cringeworthy.
His lies are so prolific, they prompt some to question whether he knows he is lying. But like many authoritarian leaders, Trump uses his go-to tactic to bend reality and bamboozle the public. He lies to conceal his own abject failures, criminality, incompetence, disloyalty and ignorance — and the lies are made more potent when the right-wing media echoes his lies and the mainstream media presents his distortions as he said-she said disputes. For him, it’s better to be called a liar (and rely on the public’s suspicion that “all politicians lie”) than acknowledge his manifest faults and failures.
There are psychological explanations for his lying. There are historical and political explanations for his lying. But the consequences of his lies — stoking fear, hatred and distrust of democratic elections — are disastrous for democracy, which depends on a shared understanding of reality.

Trump is the most prolific non-truth teller in the history of American politics. He definitely lies a lot, but it’s not always clear when he says something that is untrue if it is a deliberate lie – he is so uninformed about even the most important matters. He wings it all the time, which is why he performed so badly in the debate with Harris and why he comes across as a dunce during TV interviews.
But Harris also lies plenty, although to a lesser degree than Trump. No well-informed person actually believes that she supports strict border security, that she now supports fracking, that she genuinely supports a strong U.S. military, and much else. Every political season exposes us to a lot of hokum, and only the blindly partisan deny that their own side engages in a huge amount of intentional deceit and trickery.

All politicians lie in the broad sense. There’s a built-in tolerance for that. Trump’s waaaaay outside that tolerance.

Trump does more than lie, he fabricates things in a wild and wooly manner, off the charts and up into the stratosphere, throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks in real time.
No comparison to Harris who is a recognizably sincere human being who does not engage in fantasticism.

BART,
What you describe as “lies” by Kamala are not lies at all. People do change their mind. She was opposed to fracking; then she became VP and realized that fracking was important in Pennsylvania’s economy.
I have no reason to believe she is “lying” about her views if the border and the military.
Trump’s lies are LIES. When he says that immigrants are responsible for most crimes, that’s a lie.when he says they are rapists and murderers, that’s a lie.
When he takes credit for capping the price of insulin, that’s a lie.

Diane,
You have shown yourself to be an extreme partisan, so I place no value on your political judgement. You still claim that Joe Biden does not show any signs of serious cognitive decline, even though all political journalists sympathetic to him and even most of his closest associates now admit that reality.
Harris has not changed her mind about fracking. It’s a cynical ploy – an outright lie – to try to win the crucual state of Pennsylvania. If she is elected, she will block fracking one way or the other, openly or covertly. She will open the borders even wider than Biden did, which you support.
Bernie Sanders is honest about Harris. From NBC News: “Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., on Sunday called Vice President Kamala Harris’ decision to moderate her views on fracking and “Medicare for All” “pragmatic,” saying that Harris is “doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election” and that he still considers her to be “progressive.” In other words, she is lying, which is OK with you – whatever it takes, by any means necessary. I’m realistic about both Harris and Trump.

Bob Woodward’s new book “War” says that we have been fortunate to have Biden as President because is steady and stable. Other countries trust him. He is wise and experienced. Trump is an old man who was called “fascist to the core” by General Mark Milley, who was Trump’s chief of staff.

Yes, I am an extreme partisan when the choice is between a dynamic, intelligent candidate and an old man who lies, lies, lies and has a weird commitment to Putin.
I worked for the first George HW Bush. I respected him. He was faithful to his country. He had a deep knowledge of world affairs.
Trump is a liar, a sexual predator, a fraud, a greedy and immoral old man.
This choice is easy.

Harris does not lie plenty. That is a Bart Connor lie.
I think Bart Conner works for Putin and/or Traitor Trump’s MAGA cult.
With Harris, if she says she supports strict border security, I believe her because it’s one of Traitor Trump lies that says she doesn’t.
Why do I believe her about strict border security?
First, presidents don’t pass legislation that becomes laws. Congress does that.
What has Congress done about border security legislation?
“Since the failure of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013, no significant immigration reform legislation has been enacted.”
Who killed the last significant immigration reform legislation attempt? Easy answer: Traitor Trump.
“a bipartisan group of senators recently negotiated a border security package that would restrict immigration by tightening the requirements to claim asylum and allocating billions in funding to expand border security and increase detention capacity. The proposal was partly fueled by Republicans’ insistence that they wouldn’t pass additional aid for Israel and Ukraine without increased border security. It marked a rare occasion on Capitol Hill, where Republicans and Democrats hardly eat meals together anymore let alone craft legislation.”
How a Dead Border Deal Led to a Trump-Biden Border Duel | TIME
The same applies to fracking. Legally presidents may only do what the legislation passed by congress says. Presidents may write executive orders but those are not laws.
For instance, when Biden signed an executive order in an attempt to toughen up border security, who killed that exertive order?
Supreme Court won’t allow Biden administration to impose new border enforcement priorities for now (nbcnews.com)
There is another way to determine who engages in the most deceit and trickery. POLITIFACT’s campaign promise tracker.
Traitor Trump BROKE his campaign promises 53% of the time.

The Biden-Harris demonstration only did that 3% of the time. Three-percent is not “PLENTY”!

It isn’t JUST Trump’s lies, though there are TONS of them, more than 30,000 during his four years in office. It’s also that his lies carry weight, with Republican voters and with Republican politicians, and they are malevolent. They do real harm to real people.
Remember his lies about Covid? Remember how many people died in the U.S. because of his lies and botched Covid response? Trump infamously said, “I take no responsibility.”
Trump’s lies about voter fraud have been the basis for Republican state efforts to – as the Brennan Center for Justice put it – “register, stay on the voter rolls, or cast a ballot as compared to existing state law.” Nearly half of strong Trump supporters believe that millions of fraudulent votes were cast in 2020, and about 40 percent of all Republicans believe Trump’s lie that Russia did NOT interfere in the 2016 election on his behalf. It did.
And, as The Post Fact Checker reported, “Trump has convinced 70 percent of Republicans — and 81 percent of his strong supporters — that Biden won the 2020 election because of voter fraud, though not a single allegation has been proven.”
You really have to wonder; are these people stupid?
Trump has lied egregiously about climate change, calling it a “hoax.” Ask the people on Hatteras Island, or in Florida, or in Western Carolina if they have any direct experience with climate change.
CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale reported just a week ago that Trump “falsely claimed of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, ‘They have no money. You know where they gave the money? To illegal immigrants coming in.’ ” A clearly blatant racist lie.
In the one debate with Kamala Harris, he claimed – weirdly and falsely – that illegal Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio were eating people’s dogs and cats. Utterly absurd, but MAGAs bought into it.
The January 6 insurrection was spawned from Trump’s lies about the “rigged” and “stolen” election and the “Stop the Steal” rally that morphed into the assault on the Capitol and the American democratic process.
Trump hates to be fact-checked because he wants to lie with impunity. He railed against CBS when he was fact-checked a mere three times in the debate. He reneged on an interview with 60 Minutes because he would be fact-checked.
Trump never wants to appear and testify in court because he CAN held held accountable for his lies.
Trump has turned the Republican Party into HIS personal fiefdom, and it isn’t pretty.
Republicans routinely wear flag lapel pins, but they hate the Constitution and the American republic that the flag represents.
Republicans want to deny civil liberties to transgender and LGBTQ persons, they want to ban abortion nationally and they have been banning books in school, they want to rewrite slavery out of the Civil War, and they work hard to suppress voting rights whenever and wherever they can.
ALL this AND the outright sedition and the overt, rampant lying and racism are what they model for children – ours and theirs – every single day.
THIS is who they are.
It’s repugnant. Despicable. Hateful.
No decent patriotic American citizen should forget what he’s said and done…ever.

He is not a “master liar.” He has a lifelong history of being only a very prolific liar who has repeatedly conned the “poorly educated” (that he claimed to love), because con games work best with ignorant, low information & gullible folks –supporters be damned!
His shtick doesn’t work well with the highly educated, most of whom have been onto his ethically bankrupt, heartless and disgraceful dirty tricks for a very long time. That includes when he bought full page ads in several NY news papers calling for the death penalty for 14 and 15 year old kids of color who were falsely accused of “The Central Park Five” rape incident. After serving time & the real rapist confessed, they became known as “The Exonerated Five,” but he never apologized for that because it’s more important to him for people to think that he’s always right and can do no wrong.
That’s also why he has attracted so much scum of the earth, such as Nazis and the KKK, mostly D-List celebrities and anti-democracy, totalitarian world leaders. A-list people who have a wealth of knowledge, empathy, scruples and a strong moral compass know better. And people with common sense know as well, because what it comes down to is really as simple as, “Lie down with dogs and you get flees…”

I have to wonder though if, as mentioned by others, they work for the tRump campaign, and also how often they recycle themselves here with different pen names, so they can surreptitiously send the “vote tRump” message, while trying to disguise themselves as somewhat reasonable people.
Ultimately though, their emulation of tRump’s attack-dog bullying behaviors, on you and on others with differing views, reveal the kind of people they really are: entrenched haters, with no problem trashing democracy and welcoming dictatorship –like their beloved fürher.
