Wish I could Diane, but on travel and trying to get out of Florida before the hurricane. I know you will be a hit.

I love the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I hope you get a chance to explore a bit! I once wandered into an independent bookstore called “The Greyhound” in Berlin, MD, and met the owner (who had operated a funeral home for 20+ years before she opened the bookstore.) She had written a memoir – a story about her mother’s murder when she was a child!
And I loved reading the Cynthia Voigt Homecoming series (“Dicey’s Song” – which takes place on the eastern shore – won the Newbery Medal).

Nope. I arrive by train and shuttle in late afternoon. Return to NYC early in the morning.
When I lived in DC, I visited the Eastern Shore. Delmarva. It’s very beautiful.

Back in 1982 I traveled up the Eastern Shore to visit a friend in Baltimore. Half way up the Virginia strip, I ran into a woman’s chicken and ruined my radiator. I had nowhere else to turn but to the woman who owned the chicken that had flown in front of me. After a bit of coaxing and trust building, she drove me around Eastern shore junkyards until I found a radiator. It took a long time, and I got to know the woman, who had abusiness of selling those late 1970s cars that were huge, not just in size, but also in failure for the US auto makers. Soon I learned her son was in prison, and she learned I was a teacher. I always kept tools in the car since I was driving a clunker, and was able to replace the radiator. That lady and I swapped Christmas greetings for years.
I hope your visit is less eventful.
