Dan Marburger, who served for almost three decades as principal of the Perry High School, died of the wounds he sustained after being shot by a high school student on January 4.
The high school student killed an 11-year-old sixth grader and wounded several others, then killed himself.
Mr. Marburger gave his life to save the lives of students.
In this country, “gun rights” have more protection than the lives of students, teachers, and principals. Don’t believe those politicians who say they protect “life” but oppose gun control. This is a contradiction or outright hypocrisy. Anyone who values life must demand gun control.
Governor Kim Reynolds ordered state flags to be flown at half-mast. Surely, she also offered thoughts and prayers. Maybe. Don’t count on her to inquire why a high school student had a deadly weapon or to act to make sure that buyers of guns undergo background checks, take training in gun safety, are required to own gun safes, and are subject to red flag laws. But none of that will happen. Expect that she will propose arming teachers and other adults in the school. Metal detectors. Probably, she’ll spend some money on mental health.
But not limiting access to guns.
In red states, the life of a fetus about the size of a kidney bean without a brain or developed heart is more important than the life of the adult mother.
By the 24th week of a pregnancy, the baby has a chance of survival if they are born. Most babies born before this time cannot live because their lungs and other vital organs are not developed enough.”
Abortion should be legal in every state up to the 24th week.
Then when the baby is born, red states stop caring about the child, and in some red states they are cutting off free food for poor families, so children go hungry.
Horrific
This is so distressing. And in Iowa, the three stooges running for a Republican spot on their ticket disregard life and go on as if nothing happened. Trump said, “just get over it and move on.”
Unfortunately, Americans believe they are entitled to carry guns, even machine guns or AK47s. It’s a misrepresentation of the 2nd Amendment. There are more than 64,000 licensed gun dealers in the US. Add 2,000- 5,200 or more gun shows annually, and you can see that one can buy a gun on nearly every corner. I live in a state (Georgia) where almost anyone can carry a gun without a permit. But we are not alone. there are 27 other states with the same law.
However, there are things we can do. Even though we have more guns than people in the USA, if we were to enact very strict gun laws, such as in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii, New York, and a few other states, the percentage of people owning guns would be reduced. For example, in the states I mentioned here, only 14% of people own guns, whereas in states with laws making it easy to get a gun, more than 60% own guns. The mass shooting that happened in an Iowa school was horrific. The United States has a higher rate of mass shootings than any other wealthy and developed country. For example, in 2020, the US experienced 600 mass shootings. Germany experienced three. For more information, see https://jackhassard.org/guns-and-mass-shootings/
Gun control in New York can’t be more effective than gun control in Virginia. That’s where the straw buyers go.
After seeing that 45 won the Iowa caucus(no surprise) our chatter won’t help. We need to consolidate to make sure that this dictator in waiting is defeated along with his lackeys
Well said.
I in the UK are with you. 🤝
And sadly the results of the caucuses insult the memory of this brave man. May he rest in peace.
So, last night in Iowa, the Venezuelan government, Republican Party, the Illuminati, and shape-shifting reptilian Marxist aliens from Alpha Draconis used 2,000 mules to import caravans of migrants to stuff boxes with caucus votes for Donald Trump. The Chris Christie and RuPaul ticket actually won by unanimous write-in! Plausible, right? Stay tuned for the press conference at Four Seasons Landscaping where the evidence for this nefarious plot will be revealed and we’ll tour the porno shop next door!
OK. Not really. But Iowa Republicans did prove themselves to be utter morons. Perhaps this comes from staring at corn all day.
