Today is a day to take a break and reflect gratefully on the good people in our lives and on the reasons each of us has to be grateful. I’m grateful for my family and friends. I’m grateful for good health. I’m grateful to you for reading my blog and sharing your thoughts.
I started the blog in April 2012. In the years since then, I have never gone dark, even when I was traveling abroad, even when I was recovering from knee surgery in 2014, even when I was recovering from open heart surgery in 2021.
But today I’m planning to turn off the blog for the weekend. If anything momentous happens, I’ll sign on. Otherwise, keep sending in your comments and links, as I will read them all.
Enjoy your day and your weekend.
See you again on Monday, November 27 at 9 am EST.
Diane

Today at 10 was the agreed upon time, so Israel has already broken the truce, so what makes anyone think they’ll honor it at any time?
In any case, how is a four day pause followed by a return to bombing anything to celebrate?

I refer you the comment to which I replied. You just wished Gaza could take a break. That is factually taking place. Israel is giving up a lot for the lives of a small number of its people. You’re right, though, that it’s not a celebration.
The people of Gaza deserve a much longer and better break. They deserve lasting peace and liberty. Toward that end, Hamas can offer unconditional surrender and lay down its arms any time. Or just to ease the suffering, Egypt can help the people of Gaza instead of using them to lever political pressure on Israel. The people of Gaza deserve better from their perceived allies. They deserve a state led not by military tyrants.
Israel should accept a surrender, occupy for a few months while replacing the Netanyahu government, and then foster the birth of a sovereign and peaceful state without Hamas and let Iran and Russia go suck an egg together.

I feel like there was a hardcore band in the mid-80s called Samhain.

Yeah, I don’t remember their sound but if it was hardcore it had to be just terrible.

My son had a hardcore metal band when he was 15 and played in clubs in Tampa. 15 year old boys and death metal. These inspired the following story:
