I love Jon Stewart. His podcast “The Problem with Jon Stewart” is indispensable.
In this episode, he interviews a BBC journalist who is Iranian about the remarkable uprising against oppression by young Iranian women.
What an inspiring story of courage in the face of despotism!

Great that Stewart is doing this. However, I was shocked and saddened to hear him ask this interviewee questions about her parents given the ruthlessness of the Iranian regime. Not a smart or defensible call.

Stewart points out that when you’ve lost the young people, it’s just a matter of time for you. I have been trying to make this same point, here, for some time now, about the United States. On every issue, according to lots and lots of polls, the young people of the United States oppose the current Fascist Repugnican Party and its oligarchical masters BY SUBSTANTIAL MAJORITIES. And this is also true of POC, on most of the issues, and some POC are among the fastest growing demographic groups in the country. SO, the writing is on the wall for the Repugnuicans (if they read the mythological text of their tribal religion, those who can read, they will get this reference) unless they do something dramatic to severely curtail voting rights ASAP. And that’s just what the fossils on the current Extreme Court hope to do by throwing their dead weight behind Independent State Legislature Theory.

Because they understand the issue, I assume.

They understand the issue alright.

The US Supreme Court Majority are the analog of the Iranian Supreme Ayatollah.
They serve the same purpose: deciding whether secular laws meet the strict religious standard.
The religion is different, of course, but the goal — control of women — is the same.

Extreme Court = Ayatollah
I have thought the same. I likened them to the Council of Magistrates of the Puritan Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Meanwhile, Here at home Republican Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is doing his damnedest to tank the economy and put millions of Americans outofwork so that Republicans will gain control of Congress and tbe White House.
Biden should have fired Powell as soon as Biden got into office.
Powell keeps raising interest rates when he KNOWs that it doesn’t address the source of the problem and also knows that it will put millions out of work, which is his plan.

I’ve had the exact same thought, especially since Robert Reich has felt the Fed is going in the wrong direction. Reich has suggested a “windfall profit” tax that would help to tamp down inflation without hurting workers that are struggling to get by.

Elizabeth Warren called him out on this months ago and he still persists in raising interest rates, knowing full well that it wont have the effect he claims.
His goal is quite obviously NOT what he claims.

Rampant corporate profiteering. At some point, if General Mills keeps raising its prices and profit margins, people start eating the rich.

It is interesting that the Iranian journalist reports that the young people are not interested in blaming the West.
“Even in the conservative cities, there are some protests.”
The fact that the woman was arrested for a brief problem from her hajib has angered even conservative Iranians. This is remarkable.

I love Jon Stewart too. He’s honest and forthright, rare qualities shared by few including the owner of this blog. It’s worth looking him up every once in a while to see what good work he’s been up to between milking cows.

it´s a surprising that it comes from you, John had a interview with someone who comes from BBC Persian = NIAC, ((NIAC is not a representative of the people of Iran, but a lobbyist and a represntive of the the Islamic Republic in the west)) and you now that, just go back in history of the daily show where you had some topics on NIAC we have never expected that from someone who has always been thorough in his research on the topics taken up for discussion.
correct it by having someone from iran international or radiofarda or other iranian political activists not a NIAC
