Pastors for Children made a short video to show in direct terms why people should beware of the “school choice” claims. Most people love their local schools and their teachers. “Friday Night Lights” are the lights on the high school football field. There are many more reasons to protect what belongs to the community, the public schools that welcome all children.
Watch it.
I liked this add. Charles Johnson is an incredibly effective spokesman for public education and the protection of rural communities and their schools.
The politicians who promote charter and religious schools usually fall into line on a package of platform issues. As example, Peter Thiel’s choice for U.S. senator from Arizona, reportedly, wants states to be allowed to ban contraceptives.
Thiel believes, women voting in a capitalistic democracy is an oxymoron. Theil’s Az. candidate, Blake Masters, is described as believing in anti-white racism.
Women should reflect on the black experience with discrimination and on the Taliban’s treatment of women, if they want to know what their futures will be when Republicans are elected.
They don’t have a lot of “fancy” in Appalachia Ohio but they do have Public Schools which they intend to hold on to.
Wellston City Schools has signed on to a coalition bringing a lawsuit against the state of Ohio for the EdChoice private school voucher program, which the coalition says perpetuates segregation and unfairly funds private schools.
This lawsuit accuses the state of setting up an unconstitutional way of funding private schools. It charges the state with violating equal protection laws, and creating two systems of schools by funding public and private education disproportionately.
The lawsuit claims the way Ohio is currently funding schools disproportionately helps private schools, which leaves the public education system struggling.
The coalition leading the school districts in this fight is Vouchers Hurt Ohio. The lawsuit represents five school districts and the Ohio Coalition for Equity and Adequacy of School Funding, which regularly participates in education funding lawsuits.
“We are building a broad coalition to bring our argument before the Ohio Supreme Court and reign in the out-of-control voucher program that’s hurting our kids, our schools, parents, educators, businesses, our communities and all of us,” Vouchers Hurt Ohio says on its website.

Ohio’s Supreme Court is Republican. They ruled against the Republican-drawn maps that were egregiously gerrymandered. The result has been that Republicans refuse to budge. Two strikes are against the lawsuit going in. But hope springs eternal.
