Here are two charts from the CDC that we can use to answer that question. Unvaccinated people are 5 – 10 times more likely to get infected than vaccinated people. They are also 14 – 20 times more likely to die from COVID.

I sometimes get comments from people who claim that they are waiting for evidence that the vaccines work. The other day I read a news story about a married couple who died of COVID on the same day. They were unvaccinated. The husband said before he died that he was ”doing research” about the vaccines.
The two charts in this post should end the hesitancy of anti-vaxxers. But it won’t..

Sadly the charts are dated pre Omicron. And information out of CDC is always weeks behind. The 7 day average of deaths is still 1300 a day today. That is with a large portion of the adult population being vaccinated or having had the virus since last December to keep it equal. More useful information on these daily trackers would be vaccination status and variant types. I guess its beyond the CDC and our data Guru tech geniuses to collect that data in real time.
Further at some point when or if 85% of the population is vaccinated the deaths and hospitalizations will almost all be in the vaccinated; which will not be because the vaccinated are not still 10-14x more protected from deaths. Try explaining the simple math to the Trumptard base.
Patience, Joel! Delta and Omicron are still simultaneously circulating. Just a week ago, CDC estimated sequenced cases as 59% Omicron, 41% Delta. Was that “weeks behind”? It squares with other sources. Perhaps they’re all weeks behind, and it’s already 80% Omicron now, who knows. But those of us with vaccinated & boosted friends/ relatives experiencing covid at the moment can observe that the illness is pretty much like a bad cold or light flu [high fever/ headache]—so probably Omicron– & underlines your point re: Trumplodyte base.
Actually a week ago the CDC slashed its estimate of Omicron cases by 50 percentage points to 23% . And I get that; when you are dealing with millions of people going for tests and you are trying to make an estimate from 100s of thousands of test points. Including homes and businesses.
Hospitalizations and a deaths both get reported to the CDC. The problem is it can take up 8 weeks to gather the reports depending on the state. I would think there is not a hospital in the Country that does not receive a significant portion of its funding from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid services(Uncle Sam). It would seem like not much to ask for timely data to get reported to CDC by States in a Pandemic.
While cases have grown exponentially to levels never seen . Hospitalizations and deaths according to WaPo at 4pm Monday are are also up. Just not in proportion to the number of cases.

As that this is a political death cult we are dealing with. It would be nice to have the data to prove your last sentence and the one above in a timely manner. In order to fight the assertion that vaccines do not work on the part of even many people who have taken them .
I so agree. My Amazon order for staples [deciding not to venture out into Omicron] is recorded, acknowledged, and tracked within seconds (delivered within a day or two). My sons’ covid testing results are advised (usually, depending on lab volume) within hours—real-time, same day. Yet total cases/ hospitalizations/ deaths reported by CDC lag by a week or two. ? Somehow I suspect the data-collection/ reporting at Pentagon and Langley—like that at Amazon—is powered by $bigger machines.

I am so glad to hear this, Diane. I made this comment because I was annoyed at seeing this come up again in again in various news feeds, as though it were what is important in the world!
I know that with so many unvaccinated people that refuse to wear masks running around, that COVID might mutate into an even more dangerous strain of the virus that current vaccines might not be able to protect the vaccinated from, but … considering that most of the unvaccinated deplorables that refuse to wear masks are members of the MAGA Trump cult, please let’s stop trying to convince them they should get the vaccine.
The MAGA cult has no idea what freedom means, based on the protections in the US Constitution. They think freedom means they should be free to take away everyone else’s freedom for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to turn the world into a worse place. These freaks are only happy when they make someone else that doesn’t think like them miserable or sick.
I think we should let this MAGA cult have their way to not be vaccinated or wear masks, and then when the 2022 and 2024 elections come around, there might be millions fewer of this mob alive left to vote in like-minded morons.

Llody– maybe for those old and infirm Maga-hat unvaccinated, Lloyd. But in the main it doesn’t work that way, the incidence of death is too low. The unvaccinated recovered can vote– even those afflicted with long-haul can drag themselves to the polling-place [while congratulating themselves they saw to it no easy out via mail-in or handy ballot boxes].
The whole thing is so mind boggling and demonstrates how ill suited the human race is to survive. On the one hand, it would have been something else contrived or invented to create some “issue” that could be used to separate real Americans from commie liberals. It just so happened to be the virus because it was unavoidable. But now we’re getting into genuine sociopathic behavior which has now grown to include hate for the very concept of humanity itself. And they have legalisms to keep their insanity alive and ultimately take and monopolize the mechanisms of political power.
As Bethree noted correctly a couple of days ago, the pandemic has sped up the production time and number of Arendt’s “isolated individuals” who succumb to and demand totalitarian solutions to human problems. Note those curves are about incidence, not mortality and, more importantly, they NEVER touch. That means not once, not once (!), have they ever been shown to be medically, scientifically, or logically correct. Just as the last election was not about CRT, the rabid opposition to the vaccine is not about the virus. This is about blaming un-blamable things on those who want to preserve democracy and hoping enough wishy-washy people will fall for it and remain quiet while power is consolidated and entrenched in government, corporate, and educational bureaucracies accountable to the whims of a few.
