Senator Bernie Sanders delivered a rip-roaring speech denouncing Trump’s threat not to relinquish the presidency.
He said this election is not a contest between Trump and Biden. It is between Trump and democracy, and “democracy must win.”

Wasn’t his speech powerful?

This is a brilliant speech. Hooray, Bernie!
I have no doubt that every genuine Bernie Sanders supporter – the people who truly wanted Bernie Sanders and his progressive agenda – was already planning to vote for Biden, but that does not make this speech any less important.
And the reason this speech is so important is that it nullifies the endless right wing/Russia trolls that are out there posting as “Bernie Sanders voters who just happen to have far more distrust of Biden than Trump. They do the fake “This discussion may be about yet another thing Trump did, but I feel we need to change the subject to talk about how really terrible Biden is and how corrupt and evil the DNC is.”
Bernie Sanders’ speech said it better than any of us could. This is a choice between Trump and democracy and Biden = democracy.
So when an anonymous post says “Biden hasn’t earned my vote yet”, what they really mean is “Democracy hasn’t earned my vote, yet”. They aren’t sure that democracy matters (if they aren’t trolls, they are usually folks who benefit from white privilege), and if they aren’t sure about that, they should be marginalized and called out for what they are. People who are fine with having fascism over democracy. They are the children of the men and women of Nazi Germany who just didn’t think democracy mattered.
Likely they are trolls anyway, and their goal is to amplify the right wing message so the media starts reporting that, too.

Senator Sanders spoke about the election in terms that go beyond getting out the vote. We need to reach out to Republican lawmakers and appeal to their love of country, today. There needs be democracy in this country. There need be checks and balances. If the full election results are ignored and ballots go uncounted, I will secede from the Union. I’m taking California with me. Not joking.

There really is no appeal to Republican lawmakers. look at how fast they are rushing his new SC Justice! She’ll be confirmed in a week.
There is only one way to save us, and that is for every single American who wants to stop this fascist takeover to vote for Joe Biden and a democratic Senate and House. No exceptions. It doesn’t matter if you are in a “safe” state — Biden/Democrats down the line.
There will be cheating and the only thing that can possibly overcome it is a victory so massive and sweeping that the cheating only narrows the victory.

Bernie is right; democracy must win.
But if a Biden presidency becomes a continuation of the Clinton/Obama tenure, he will have a fight on his hands. The needs of a vast majority of Americans has been sidelined while politicians have serviced the corporate/donor class.
Billionaires, corporations and Wall Street have been coddled and propped up via the Fed’s money cannon, while unemployment, hunger, poverty and homelessness are on the rise.
Too many people are hurting; the political class on both sides of the aisle ignore this at their own risk.
Let’s hope the 40-year embrace of neoliberalism finally loses its grip on our country.

Bernie not only speaks the truth, he is trying to energize his base. Bernie understands that Trump and his deplorables are essentially trying to stage a coup. Biden and Harris need to get out and campaign. I am not suggesting anything like a rally. They simply need to go to communities in swing states and safely address small, socially distant groups. They should have media coverage. They need convince people that the Biden-Harris team will have their backs, and they will stand up for democracy.

The Don, Cheeto “Littlefingers” Trumpbalone, has a tenuous grasp on reality. However, often enough, in the past, when reality said to him, “Uh, I don’t think so,” he could simply bully it into being as it was in his fevered imagination.
And he thinks he can do this again for the 2020 election. Who knows, with the help of Bill Barr and an extremist right-wing Supreme Court and corrupt Republican election officials around the country, perhaps he can. Perhaps we have gone completely over into banana republic status.

This shows that Ruth Bader Ginsberg was appreciated in Canada and that Supreme Court Justice K isn’t, nor is Trump.
This news comes from Canada.

‘A friendship of minds’: Claire L’Heureux-Dubé on the legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg
When Justice Ginsburg was named, since I was the second woman at the Supreme Court of Canada I wrote her a letter. I congratulated her and said I was very happy that she was the second (woman named at the U.S.S.C.) since I was the second one myself. And I reflected on her past that I had read in the Times, and it was so similar to mine…
Q: What did you think of the Kav_____ confirmation hearings?
A: I think it was terrible. In many ways because the way he answered the questions, the way that everybody who appeared—I’m sorry for the lady who went there and was treated badly. His answers show so many of his failings. I don’t think anybody was impressed by the way it was done. This diminished the court.
Q: After Justice Ginsburg’s death there are concerns not just about the credibility of the court but about its more progressive decisions getting overturned. Looking at the situation in the U.S., what are you most concerned about?
A: The questions are so big and terrible. The main concern is about democracy. If you cannot rely on elections, if you cannot rely on the truth, if you have all this fake news, this is very worrying. My daughter and my grandchildren live in Boston in Massachusetts and I’m worried for them. They are Canadian—I hope they will come back to Canada.
It’s sad if people are afraid to be themselves, afraid for the consequences for their jobs, so they remain silent. A position for many of those conservatives on the Senate, who laugh at what Trump is doing but are not strong enough or good enough to say it or act against it.
Some people say the good always wins. I’m not so sure, but it cannot get lower than this…

Coney Barrett has the glazed eyes of a zealot. I can see her presiding over massacres and torture in full confidence that she’s executing God’s will. I hope I’m wrong.

The pandemic has delivered the globe an ugly body blow. Unless American voters unite in the manner Bernie Sanders requests and win both the House and the Senate Covid 19 will seem like a bad dream unless Trump is defeated. From the other side of the world it appears he, and worse his followers, would rather stop the world spinning than to give into a legitimate change of government. My heart cries for your dilemma. I wish you justice.
