Trump’s schedule for this week is a reminder that Michael Cohen, his former “fixer,” now a felon, wrote in the foreword to his new book Disliyal that Trump has no friends. It’s also a reminder that Trump never works. He watches TV, he golfs, he tweets, he lunches with lackeys.
SNEAK PEEK … THE PRESIDENT’S WEEK AHEAD: Monday: TRUMP will have lunch with VP MIKE PENCE and will meet with Attorney General BILL BARR and acting DHS Secretary CHAD WOLF. Tuesday: TRUMP will travel to Kenosha, Wis. Wednesday: TRUMP will travel to Wilmington, N.C., to speak about “designating Wilmington, NC as an American World War II Heritage City.” Thursday: TRUMP will have lunch with Secretary of State MIKE POMPEO.
I’ve penciled him in to celebrate two days on which it appears he has nothing scheduled: t
Tues. – Sept. 1 Trump might enjoy National Chicken Boy Day where he can pin a medal of honor on the 22-foot statue of the beloved boy.
Sat. – Sept. 6 is Read A Book Day. This is an opportunity for our president to declare his secret love of books and add thinking Americans to his base. He can hold up a book and proclaim: “Reading improves memory and concentration as well as reduces stress. Older adults who spend time reading show a slower cognitive decline and tend to participate in more mentally stimulating activities over their lifetime.”
Yes, Donald is full of, uh, astounding surprises.
I was going to add that reading virtually ANYthing is definitely not on the schedule (OK, maybe a menu), but looking at pictures instead certainly is.
Many people commented how the graphs Trump’s staff gave him to explain the spread of COVID-19 in the US, when he was interviewed by Swan(?) recently, looked like “Kindergarten graphs,” and they really did look like the kinds of bar graphs I used to teach my Kindergartners about symbolic graphs.
Actually, since kids that young are concrete thinkers, we typically first start off by graphing real objects and real people (as per Math Their Way). Clearly, Trump does not handle abstractions very well either, because he appeared to me to be struggling to explain even those basic bar graphs. I thought his aids jumped the gun and should have had other staff stand in lines demonstrating symptoms of the illness and dying first, in order to show him exactly what it all means…
I think you left out the fact that Trump’s damaged, deplorable mind schemes all of the time.
Awake or asleep, Trump’s crippled brain is coming up with all kinds of hairless brained ideas that he tries out one after another in his attempt to win, win, win, except for the schemes he forgot.
Trump also has a leaky brain as his endless schemes appear and then leak away.
Trump schemes when he is constipated and sitting on the toilet for hours.
Trump falls asleep scheming, but when he wakes up many of those schemes have been forgotten.
Then as he chows down on his Egg McMuffins and swallows each bite with gulps of diet Pepsi, he starts scheming again as the sugar floods his deranged mind giving him too much energy to think, or at last what he calls thinking.
Trump does not physically exercise his body but he exercises his damaged mind nonstop and that exercise is all scheming.
I am busier than POTUS is, and I’m retired!
Looks like he has some time to play a round of golf with the recently “retired” Jerry Falwell Jr..
Three or four hours a day are reserved for hair primping, preening, dying, blow drying and individual hair arranging with a final spray of hair freeze. Then another 2 or 3 hours for skin cleansing, moisturizing and coloring to the proper degree of faux tanning. What disease is this country suffering from that we (not us, the other we) would elect such an obvious clown and abomination to the highest office?! And it could happen again!!!!!
The yellow troll doll hair and the orange clown makeup are a daily work of art!
Something I just wrote. MAYBE of interest to someone.
A. Less than 80,000: Total number of votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin gave Trump the White House last time around. One point better in each state, Hillary would have won the electoral vote,
B. 2 million 800 thousand votes Hillary received more than Trump.
That promotes real confidence n the power of the people, in our democratic process. Anti Trump people are sure poor losers. Just look at his great accomplishments so far.
C. The president has truly made us great again.
• We are more united than ever before
• Chaos has ended on our streets just as promised
• He has shown the world how to combat a deadly virus. Just compare where we stand relative to other nations. Compare the numbers who died during the 4 day RNC and 9/11. Exemplary.
• He has fought for and established a medical insurance plan which makes provision for pre existing conditions, includes coverage for our citizens at a reasonable cost.
• He has helped enormously our doctors and nurses by providing them with the best possible virus protection for all of them in a very timely manner. They should be enormously grateful.
• Farmers are much more secure now with new and even larger markets for their products. His trade policies really help those who vote for him.
• He has established a moral high ground second to none for honesty, truth, rectitude, all the best things for our children to emulate.
• Our word is our bond, all treaties we have made respected and our friends who helped in those treaties are 100% behind us on this.
• He has shown unbounded respect for the planet on which we rely to live, instituting the best ways to combat ways to increase our safety and well being.
• He has shown exemplary insight in choosing his staff, those with impeccable honesty. Too, he has shown great respect for those who oppose him, emulating Lincoln our first Republican president.
• He has studied in depth what made our former presidents great and studiously incorporated them.
• He has studied in depth history’s best minds, past and present and utilized their findings in his presidency.
• The presidency has been raised to a new height of respect by all our friends whose perception of him is of the highest order.
• Christian values have been boosted. Family values, love your neighbor, Do unto others, all the basic principles of Christianity. His compassion for others is legendary.
• We are now once again the shining light on the hill, the beloved country for the tired, the poor, masses yearning to be free, the oppressed. We show we really care for others and are there for those most in need.
• He has built a beautiful wall to keep out the rapists, druggies -all undesirables and Mexico has paid for it all, just as promised.
• He has fostered freedom of religion. All religions are welcome here, none excluded.
• The promise to open his tax returns has been kept – in spades.
• He has shown how to establish law and order, send in federal troops, establish federal government rule. [first step to military dictatorship?]
With such an impressive list of accomplishments just think what another 4 years can bring. His way of fighting the virus which works so very well should bring our economy to even greater heights, our health and health support improve. What more can anyone ask?
Trump in October of 2015:
“You know, a lot of people think, you know, I’m sort of a tough guy, I’m gonna be—you know, but actually, I’m a really nice person, but some people say, oh, he is a tough—I’m gonna unify. Barack Obama, he’s divided this country unbelievably, and it’s all all hatred—what can I tell you?—I’ve never seen anything like it. Now, I’m gonna unify, and some people say, well, the people that know me, and I’m talking about some of the biggest people in the world, they call up and they say, it’s right. I see it. And you know, one of the big knocks on me was that over the years I’ve gotten along with Democrats, and I’ve gotten along with Republicans, and I say, that’s a good thing. As a businessman, I had an obligation to do that, to myself, to my family, to my company, my employees—get along with everybody. I will be a great unifier for our country.”
BTW, one of the things that happens with Trump is that when he speaks in his typical Toddler English, and people then write news stories about what he said, they quote him, but they clean up the quotations and put them into English. This bad habit misrepresents the man’s, uh, uniqueness.
Trump the unifier. LOL. That’s up there with Mexico’s going to pay for the wall.
Promises kept. Another theme of his convention.
Add this to your list, Gordon. Now this is what we need from our political class:

I think about how corrupt and dishonest the members of the Trump Administration are when Secretary DeVos and the rest of the ed reformers in that administration scold public school students for not having”values” – private school students have “values”, public school students do not.
If these people are the result of of these “values” being instilled in America’s mosty expensive private schools, thanks but no thanks. I affirmatively tell my son NOT to behave like the President or the people who work for the President.
That they’re all corrupt liars is one thing- that they feel they are morally superior to everyone else while they’re doing it is another. I mean, honestly. How DARE any of these people lecture anyone else? The ethical standards in that administration COULD NOT be lower. They have real difficulty staying out of prison and this is the standard students are supposed to adopt? Good God, I hope not.
And Betsy DeVos, America’s number one scold on “values” is JUST as bad as the rest of them. She lied in her confirmation hearing when she stated repeatedly that her family would stop donating to the GOP and she has now misled not one but two federal judges. She’s dishonest- a liar.
The last thing public school students need is lectures on morality from the likes of these folks. They do not have the moral or ethical standing to lecture anyone, on anything.
The Aspen “Ideas” Festival:
“Around 16 million kids & 400k teachers lack adequate internet/devices, a big problem during #COVID19. Still, tech innovation among educators & policymakers is thriving.”
Ed reform exists to give powerful people excuses for not doing their jobs.
They “lack” internet. Apparently it is impossible to imagine that the United States could actually ensure the whole country has internet, like literally every other developed country. No one is responsible for this “lack”- it just exists and it there’s no possible way to remedy it.
“See- we don’t need a functioning government for “innovation” to thrive!”
The message is “don’t expect political leaders to DO anything. Give up and fix it yourself. Which MIGHT explain why political leaders adore ed reformers so much.
Here’s Education Next, a prestige ed reform org:
https://www.educationnext.org/
90% charters and vouchers.
The reason our politicians aren’t responsive to the 90% of students and families who use public schools is they rely exclusively on elite ed reformers for information, and elite ed reformers don’t do anything for public school students. They barely mention our students or schools, unless it’s to describe them as “failing”
If we want better public schools we are going to have to hire people who work on public schools- ed reformers don’t, and they so dominate elite policy circles that no one else in government works on public schools either, based on their influence.
