Glen Brown, retired teacher in Illinois, suggests that Trump’s ignorance has had real consequences. In fact, it is dangerous and has contributed to the deaths of tens of thousands of people.
Brown has maintained a running roll of actions Trump has taken to avoid controlling the coronavirus, updated to mid-August 2020.
Check with Worldometer for the latest count of cases and deaths. Here are the world data. The U.S. has consistently accounted for about one-quarter of all the world’s infections. Maybe one day, as Trump claims, the disease will magically disappear, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Great post, Diane.
trumpsy dumpsty is UNFIT to serve. He’s crazed. He needs to be put in JAIL for all his heinous crimes against humanity and nature. Karma will get that dump in the end, and it’s happening already. That dumpster does what he does best … “call people names and LIE.” This is all the dumpster has. He’s disgusting.
This is Diane’s living room and can’t write those “words” I want me to write down re: what I truly think of that “rear-end wipe” who I call the dumpster when I don’t want to offend someone.
Thank you, DIANE

Ignorance is forgivable and fixable. Willful ignorance and the inability to even want to learn is not. The latter condition should disqualify anyone from any position of influence, from fast food assembly line shift boss to the presidency.

Trump administration brands educators “critical infrastructure workers” to force schools to open
“White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany stated, ‘Look, we believe teachers are essential workers,”’adding that ‘meatpackers didn’t stop working during this pandemic… Nor should our teachers, because America’s children must come first.’
The comparison with meatpackers is apt. In April, Trump invoked the Defense Production Act to force resistant meatpackers back into the plants, where close quarters and poor air circulation rapidly spread the virus…”

According to scientific experts, this virus will never magically vanish. It will be with us for as long as there is life on the planet. The only defense is to risk being infected hoping you will survive and develop immunity or wait for a vaccine.
Poliovirus is still with us and because of the Cult of Ignorance and Stupidity that refuses to vaccinate their children, Polio is making a comeback.
https://health.wusf.usf.edu/post/polio-making-comeback#stream/0
The same thing is happening with the Measles and Chickenpox.
Measles is caused by a virus in the paramyxovirus family and it is normally passed through direct contact and through the air. The virus infects the respiratory tract, then spreads throughout the body. Measles is a human disease and is not known to occur in animals
https://www.mdedge.com/chestphysician/article/214783/infectious-diseases/measles-comeback-2019
Chickenpox is an infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus. It causes an itchy rash with small, fluid-filled blisters
https://www.advisory.com/daily-briefing/2018/12/07/chicken-pox
Polio, Measles, and Chickenpox had almost been eradicated due to vaccinations. Then along came the Cult of Ignorance with help from fake media outlets like Fox News, and the likes of Hannity, Alex Jones, Limbaugh, that all helped elect one of their own, Donald Trump.
Trump is just one of the members of the Cult of Ignorance and Stupidity. No one that belongs to this suicidal cult should be allowed to be in charge of anything or to have children.

I have been listening to Trump who is speaking at Arlington Virginia right now. He is clearly rehearsing for his showdown with Biden, Obama, and people whom he judges incompetent for the last forty years.
He has gotten the most applause from Evangelicals, gun lovers, supporters of the police, and people who hope he will continue to pack the courts, including the Supreme Courts. He is taking credit for being omniscient in the face of radical leftists, commies, socialists, mayors of Democrat-run cities who allow violent demonstrations by radical lefties and anarchists, add John Kerry, Obama, Biden and others. He called Hillary Clinton “crazed and ….”
He is slamming the Democrats for requiring a photo-ID for their convention but not a photo-ID to vote.
I hope BIden and Harris and hundreds of down-ticket democrats are fully prepared for the onslaught of falsehoods, exaggerations, and so on. This guy Trump is worthy of ridicule but neither he nor the people around him are stupid about pleasing their crowds of supporters and using dirty tactics to get exactly what they want.

Excellent LTE in today’s NYT, ignorance + incredibly inappropriate, historically inaccurate analogy + sheer stupidity + cravenness = DeSantis:
Re: “Reopening Schools in Florida Is Likened to Operation to Get Bin Laden” (news article, Aug. 20):
Comparing a Navy SEALs operation to reopening schools, as Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis, did, is worth close examination.
Would we send SEALs to capture a dangerous foe and expect them to buy their own weapons? Their own protective equipment? No way. Would we send them without adequate organizational and logistical support? Without adequate funding? Hardly. Would we mobilize the operation just at the time when it was most dangerous for the SEALs? Absolutely not.
But that is what politicians Mr. DeSantis are doing when they insist that schools reopen, without providing schools with the resources they need to save the lives of students, educators and their families. As always, schools are expected to make do by holding a bake sale. A pandemic is an exceptional time for us to re-examine our priorities. Lives depend on it.
