The Lincoln Project hits hard on a subject that Democrats would not dare to touch: Trump’s sympathy for Ghislaine Maxwell and his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. There has been speculation by a biographer of Prince Andrew that Trump will pardon Maxwell in return for her silence. Epstein has many prominent friends, including Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Alan Dershowitz, and Prince Andrew.
One has to wonder why the question raised by THIS aren’t being asked more widely: https://www.snopes.com/news/2016/06/23/donald-trump-rape-lawsuit/
Hmmm. I’m guessing that no one bothered to check out this link. It’s the single most shocking thing, I think, that I’ve ever read.
Her accusations were public knowledge before the 2016 election. If a person supports Trump there is no level of depravity or treason that goes too far. Trump is a small part of the problem his supporters are the problem. They had been waiting for him since 1964. or is that 1954
Anyone who does follow the link: read the entire complaint embedded in it. There’s a scroll bar. It’s mind-blowing.
There was another article suggesting that trump had used a photograph of some crowd activity in Ukraine in one of his commercials suggesting that he was fighting for order in the street
He is fomenting disorder in Portland and other cities to get good footage for his campaign ads. Trump’s brown shirts vs. Antifa.
Been working all day and just saw this. You ask the right question. Would love to see him questioned about this by a journalist, but since one can’t be found in DC, I guess we’ll just keep it between us.
This was reported on in 2016 and after the election but like so much about Trump – and Epstein for that matter – the press gave it far too little import.
Of course he will pardon her. She knows way too much.
To be pardoned, you have to be convicted. All the $hit she has on POS’s will come out after the trial. And that will be in a year. trump will be out of office, he can’t pardon $hit as a person on the most wanted list by the Feds and NY state.
See Richard Nixon for refutation of this. Should the Idiot actually lose, I predict this will be on the list of final hour pardons/commutations.
If she gets out of jail alive
I hope Maxwell is under twenty-four hour surveillance. We wouldn’t want anything to happen to her before the trial.
She will not likely survive to see her trial.
I worry that you are right. By now, the feds have raided all of Epstein’s properties. What, exactly, happened to his enormous trove of secret pictures and videotapes of many of the most powerful men in the country engaged in horrific activities? Well, it’s been months and months. Not a peep. I suspect that these have all been destroyed.
He had cameras all over the Manhattan townhouse, and a whole room devoted to recording devices and remote video screens. But not a word about anything he recorded there. Sickening. And chilling.
The FBI gathered all the videos from Rpstein’s mansion. Who’s in charge of the FBI? Bill Barr.
I would find it very difficult to believe that there are not several copies and that some of them are not already attached to a dead man’s (or in this case woman’s) switch.
Maxwell is not stupid and would almost certainly have done this as an insurance policy.
Ms. Maxwell has lived a life of luxury.
She currently is facing a year awaiting trial in one of the worst prisons in America, the Metropolitan Detention Center. Mice, mold, vermin, filth, horrible food, no air-conditioning. She will either cut a deal with the prosecutor or send a message to her friend Donald.
Bob-
My opinion-
If the FBI has the files and they harm Trump, the investigation will be in slow motion.
Kasich and Borges in Ohio moved directly against Trump this summer. The FBI investigation that led this week to two of Kasich’s allies being arrested, moved rapidly. When a U.S. attorney general is a presidential loyalist, it’s what happens.
I hate to admit this, but I would very much like to see the dirty laundry she has to air.
No way he pardons her. Cohen and his buddies only lied about or protected him for trying to steal an election, fraud, payoffs, bribery and corrupt acts.
If she has anything on him, it’s got to be worse than the “Access Hollywood” tape. She pleads the fifth and stays in jail. But I’d scroll back up to Stuart’s point. Probably no one is minding the store again.
It’s worse than nobody. William Barr, who is hardly an uninterested party, has control over all the confiscated material from Epstein’s safe. Barr’ father Douglas gave Epstein, a college dropout, his start when he hired him to be a teacher at Dalton in 1974 where Barr was headmaster. Epstein reportedly slept with more than one of his students.
His father was Donald Barr.
Small world, huh?
Here’s a bizarre, sick coincidence. Wm. Barr’s father wrote a twisted science fiction novel called “Space Relations.” In 1973, Donald Barr published a science-fiction novel about a planet ruled by oligarchs who perform child sex slavery. It has been noted that Epstein’s crimes are similar to the plot of Barr’s novel.
I thought nothing could top Mary Trump’s book as an expose of Trump.
Then I learned that his former “fixer” Michael Cohen is writing a tell-all about Trump’s financial affairs.
I hope this person is not pardoned by Trump, or if so, with clear indication of her ties to Trump.
Meanwhile the CDC is getting slammed with fake news generated by people who have copied the letterhead and want to discredit mask wearing and other information that might save lives.

CNN reported today that Sinclair broadcasting stations will air a hatchet job on Fauci this weekend. Sinclair is channel 22 and 45 in southwest Ohio.
It wasn’t sympathy … it was just his way of saying good-bye …
!!!!
Maxwell wishes
The wishing well
Is very deep
And walls are steep and slick
Escaping’s hell
And makes her weep
And wish that she could stick
Off topic-
The Democratic challenger, Melton-Meaux (a lawyer), running against progressive IIhan Omar in Minnesota, has big bucks for his campaign from conservatives and the pro-Israel crowd. He provides a lot of bio info. to media. An omission that is odd, he doesn’t identify his K-12 in Cincinnati. He lists his Dad’s high school but, not his own.
Barf. Ugh!
I’ve grown tired of cursing Trump. I find the man completely appalling, and just keeping up with his vileness, his quotidian idiocy and cruelty and vandalism and creepiness, is exhausting. Every day, it’s a new outrage. Taking lunches away from poor school children. Gutting clean water laws. Allowing imports of elephant trophies. Insisting that schools open fully during a pandemic. Fascist secret police. Invite another dictator to the offal office. Each day I think, what will it be today? What moronic, unconscionable, damaging thing? And I’ve grown weary of addressing this deluge of policy sewage. I can’t do it anymore, I think. I just can’t. As Bishop Bullwinkle says, “Hell to the Naw, Naw, Naw.” But then I think of the kids in cages and feel as though I have to keep cursing him publicly, as a matter of civic duty.
If we lived in a better world, he and Miller would be standing in the dock at the International Court of Criminal Justice, charged with crimes against humanity. If only it could be so. Why isn’t it so? What’s wrong with us that it isn’t so? How can an abomination like Jabba the Trump be allowed to keep trailing slime across the nation and the globe? Is there anything that he can do, that would be revealed about him, too disgusting for his Republican cheerleading squad and his base base?
I used to think, what if those who know his crimes simply confronted him about revealing them and let him resign to go off to play golf? I used to think that I would be fine with that. But now I really want to see him jailed for at least some of his many crimes because he is so utterly callous and despicable. He treats others so badly. This could very well happen, that he would end up in prison. He can’t be pardoned for state crimes, and he is going to face a long, long list of prosecutions and suits, civil and criminal, once he’s out of office and no longer protected by the immunity from prosecution that he enjoys as president. He could very well find himself across the cell block from Bill Cosby. I’ve wondered whether he might try to evade prosecution by leaving the country. But I doubt that his old pals in Russia would have him. (What’s the Russian equivalent of “Hail, hail, the gang’s all here?”) Wouldn’t that be a bizarre outcome? A former president hiding out in some country that doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the United States.
I got to thinking about the pre-presidential Trump. In your paragraph about a better world, you suggest that we should have done something earlier in the presidency. What we really should have done is to identify him as a wart long before he was a cancer.
The cancer did not originate with trump. It is, rather, a pervasive problem associated with an over-affluent society. When the wealthy see themselves as entitled to their rewards, a society becomes sick. Ours is feeling that as today.
Evidence of this is in voting patterns. No candidate who speaks the truth can become a national figure. We could have a better education system. It would take far more money than we put into it today. Try to say out loud to a voter that they will have to pay more to get more. The right wing will paint you as a wild-eyed dreamer, a communist, or some other version of a societal anathema.
Why did anyone every make trump famous in the first place? This cancer of worshiping at the clay feet of the god of wealth. He looked wealthy and authoritative on his TV show. The so-called reality shows give us scripted acting masquerading as reality. He was the perfect fit. Much of the country could not see his appeal and ignored him. Until he descended from on high to bash immigrants and run for president. Then he tapped into a real distrust of political figures who do not have the courage to risk getting voted out of office because they spoke truth. Almost everybody I know who voted for trump, justified their support on the basis of his being something new, and anything new was fine with them.
This should be an indictment of our society. It should have sent all the good people running from him just as soon as he began his long list of depredations from expelling scientists from their leadership positions to mistreating people because of their skin color and stirring the right wing in America. But it did not. We are still electing people whose view of America is a disease. Look at your own governor. Even his appearance makes you think of a huckster in O Brother, Where Art Thou. Look at my senators here in Tennessee. The pair of republicans vying for the seat of Lamar Alexander are trying to beat each other up for not being far enough to the right.
We have to begin to get these people out of office. Only when good people band together and vote for good people will we have a government that runs properly. Only when people are willing to give up something for society to run well will we have this process. I just cannot see it happening.
Just a quickie: not too long after the inauguration, I attended a meeting (so packed they had to hold another one) at which IL Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky called for WHit’s impeachment, laying out all the reasons.
It is too bad that the proceedings weren’t taken up sooner. I know my thinking might be somewhat south of fantasyland, but, perhaps, something could have happened–WHit could have really lost it & done something/things even nuttier than he did at the beginning of his term (you all should also read Michael Wolff’s book, Fire & Fury~there were some cooler heads in the WH earlier on) that might have done WHit in.
Then, perhaps, we wouldn’t have had a pandemic here at all.
Needless suffering, misery & death avoided.
