Politico reports that the Federal Drug Administration has withdrawn authorization for emergency use of a drugs repeatedly endorsed by Trump. Based on various trials, the FDA concluded that the drug is not effective at preventing the coronavirus nor is it effective as a treatment for the virus.
Trump recently claimed that he was taking the drug himself. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she worried that it was a dangerous drug for a man in his age group who is “morbidly obese.” It’s not clear whether he was actually taking the drug or just prevaricating.

The comments on the MedPage report show how entrenched the “faith” in this medicine is and the degree to which others echo Trump in saying: “What have you got to lose?” The distain for clinical trials is part of a mindset that rejects informed professional judgment.
It used to be we just had to live with them. Now we have to die with them.
Hopefully he’s stroking out or heart problems because of that drug he said he was taking.. I think he was saying that he was taking it because he was getting a kick back. Also, he doesn’t have a heart so he can’t have a heart attack. If he did it would be right next to his brain which is planted up his arse.
I’ll bet the house that he was lying about taking it.
I’m w/you, GregB. Teetotaling non-smoking germaphobes don’t imbibe drugs w/counterindicated side effects. That promotion’s subtext was, “Re-open, the water’s fine! Look they’ve even got ‘proven’ drugs for prevention/ cure!”

On a slightly different but related note, it was hilarious to see the quarantining Nancy Bela Lugosi Pelosi with her $13 buck-a-pint artisanal ice-cream that gets delivered to her $11 million home, as she stood there with her ice-cream pop and showed us the pull-out freezer stocked with the containers in her $24,000 double commercial-grade refrigerators. She’s JUST like you and me, the average Joe who the Democrats actually (used to) represent.
I say let them eat $13.00 ice-cream and live in mansions. She’s just as bad as the GOP. They are all plutocrats, and I have no sour grapes whatsoever. But the Democrats are kinder, gentler, and have a viciousness that is slower and more friendly. It will give us time to fight them, reform them, hold them accountable, and (yay!) replace them with real progressives.
What’s w/the attack on Pelosi? The slam on $$$Congressmen applies to any one of them in office for more than a few years, & reflects a wholly corrupt system, not a Pelosi thing. Personally I’m delighted to have a Speaker who on the whole reflects my values, has the guts to confront Trump, & the organization/ political clout to get legislation passed – starting right out of the box this time w/HR-1 which directly addresses the corruption. She has met my hopes for the 116th House, which was that it would pass bill after bill reflecting the will of the people, forcing the Senate to say No over & over again, revealing their position re: the will of the people.
Yes I agree. The whole system is corrupt. It’s not a Pelosi thing. She is part and parcel, and the corruption runs on both sides of the aisle. Pelosi does not push for single payer and she is not for true redistribution of wealth. She’s a very nice lady, though and very good looking. She’s bright and well spoken, both great qualities. She helped the DNC get rid of Bernie. I don’t think the imagery she presented was appropriate for the millions who are suffering out there. Sorry . . .
