I was recently interviewed by Dr. Randy Tobler on KFTK, a FOX news radio station in St. Louis. As I waited to go live, I heard an ad for Rush Limbaugh, whose show aired later that day. This was my second interview with Randy. His father was a public school teacher and principal. He served on his local school board. He and I hit it off.

I hope you have more opportunities to speak truth to power on radio stations that Rush frequents.

Preserving public education by funding public education is not really liberalism versus conservatism; it’s really the working class versus the leisure class. What you said, Diane, toward the end of the interview about preserving funding to keep professional teachers from being replaced by cheap, shoddy tech products is widely supported by the entire public when the #Red4Ed rubber meets the road.

You and your readers might find this site from the Kremlin to be interesting. Discussion of education during the restrictions of the pandemic and the use if IT. Much more comment from Putin than from our President.

Fascinating. Russia has a president who can actually speak complete, grammatical sentences that make sense. I hate to say this, but it’s a relief after what we have to deal with here.

Too bad the Idiot isn’t Putin’s puppet when it comes to things like this:
“But, of course, they will not replace face-to-face communication between a teacher and a student, or the creative teamwork and camaraderie at school, college or university. I consider any rumours and false claims that online education will completely replace and supersede in-person classes and that conventional schools and universities will be closed as blatant provocation. Especially because the purpose of the education system is not only to teach but to instil moral values and, to a large extent, shape a student’s personality, and pass on the fundamental values and traditions of our society.”

Good interview. Tobler seems like a decent host and interviewer. Be that as it may, when I need a dose of rightwingnut insanity, I tune to 97.1.

“The use of standardized tests to measure aptitude and intelligence is one of the most effective racist policies ever devised to degrade Black minds and legally exclude Black bodies.
We degrade Black minds every time we speak of an “academic-achievement gap” based on these numbers.
The acceptance of an academic-achievement gap is just the latest method of reinforcing the oldest racist idea: Black intellectual inferiority.
The idea of an achievement gap means there is a disparity in academic performance between groups of students; implicit in this idea is that academic achievement as measured by statistical instruments like test scores and dropout rates is the only form of academic “achievement.”

Don’t think you’ll have to worry about standardized testing, Diane. Can’t do it remotely and the schools are closed. May not be able to open in the fall and if they do, budgets won’t support testing expenses.
