The high point of visiting Seattle on the book tour for SLAYING GOLIATH was a rousing event at Town Hall, beautifully renovated since my last visit.
I was introduced by Garfield High School teacher Jesse Garfield, who is one of the heroes of the book. He is busy with Black Lives Matter at School events but took the time to spend the evening with a lovely crowd that included BATS, union leaders, teachers, retired teachers, and other concerned citizens.
Seattle is a beautiful city but the weather was bleak, rainy, and cold during our two days.
On Wednesday we flew to San Francisco and were thrilled to see the sun shining and mild temperatures. We went out to dinner at a lovely restaurant and on our way out, recognized former Senator Al Franken and said hello.
Tomorrow evening I speak at Kepler Bookstore in Menlo Park. Friday night I will speak at Balboa High School, sponsored by the United Teachers Of San Francisco. If you are in the area, say hello!
Any stops in the Los Angeles area?
Sunday.
In other news, Mayor Pete declared victory in Iowa before any of the official results had been released.
And he now stands in a virtual dead heat with Sanders (barely ahead with 26.2 to 26.1%) with 96% of the official results in.
Hell, why wait for the official results when you already “know” what the outcome will be?
Apparently Pete has the Amazing Kreskin with his Ouija board on his campaign staff.
I wonder if Kreskin has already told Pete that the White House is his.
Pete’s Prescience (TM) could come in very handy, though.
He could tell us all sorts of things, like how the economy is going to do next year and who will win next year’s Superbowl and whether the US will go to war and whether we will win (never mind that last one: we already know we won’t)
Won’t win, that is
Or maybe Mayor Pete is using Shirley MacLaine as a medium to commune with this fellow
Wow is all I can say. Just “wow”

He’ll have to change his name to But-I-hedge
Mayor Deceit spent all his time and money almost exclusively in Iowa and didn’t really win. He probably didn’t get any momentum at all. Now he’s Mayor Deplete. The rest of the field completely fell apart — except for Bernie. Bernie did well in Iowa. He still has a yuge war chest. He has a ground game in all fifty states, in US territories, and even in foreign countries where there are US military bases. Bernie looks good. Especially the hair.
Mayor Deplete
Ha ha ha
Mayor Peed?
And now that all the votes are in and Bernie has received the most popular votes by a significant margin, we are being told that the only thing that matters is the delegate count. (But I thought that the DNC, DNC directed news media like CNN and MSNBC and other Democrats were saying after the 2016 election that the only thing that should matter in a democracy is the popular vote. Perhaps I heard wrong? Or perhaps it depends on whom they want to win?)
But if one goes by the delegate count, it is certainly not possible to call Buttigieg a “winner”, since the difference between the two is miniscule ( amounts to only 0.1%), which by any honest assessment is a tie (since there is always a margin of error)
By the way, what happened to Byedone?
If he can’t even beat a Socialist and a Mayor, how could he ever in a million years beat Trump?
Byedone- clever
Linda
I agree it’s very clever and I wish I could take credit, but alas, I can’t.
I saw that in the comments somewhere (Common Dreams?)
“Byedone”
He thought he was Biden
Bidin’ his time
But really was Byedone
Byedone with whine
Buttigieg is nonetheless claiming Victory! And CNN ‘s Chris Cuomo just repeats whatever he says like it was handed down from God herself.
Pete and Repeat.
Pathetic.

By the way, CNN editors must have been asleep during that interview that I linked to above in which Buttigieg was actually challenged for claiming Victory before ANy official results had been released. Or maybe they just don’t want to appear TOO obviously biased.
I guess that would be “Pete and Repete.”
