In this post, he cancels his congratulations and explains why he was in error–or just kidding around.

Sorry, Diane, but I don’t find John amusing. Merrow came to New Orleans after Katrina and provided cover for the charter movement. Now he wants us to believe he created the Hechinger Report, which still defends charters, to atone for his sins. Karl was right, history does indeed repeat itself; “first as tragedy, then as farce.”
My feeling is that the Resistance needs to take its allies where it can get them. People grow and change. Wisdom is supposed to come with age.
I welcome repentant sinners into my tent. I was one myself.
