What a delight to watch an experienced diplomat speak with intelligence and forethought to the House Intelligence Committee.
If you missed her opening statement, you can watch it on YouTube or other sources.
After three years of watching a semi-literate, dissembling president and his supine toadies as they weave their way through the messes of their own creation, it is a pleasure to watch Marie Yovanovitch speak knowledgeably about the rule of law.
Yes, there are people in the government who are role models for our children. Think Ambassador William Taylor and State Department official George Kent.
And think about the first person to step forward and courageously offer testimony, Ambassador Yovanovitch.
Risking the wrath of the president and the Secretary of State, Yovanovitch spoke up and in her wake, others followed.
She was an eloquent spokesperson for the rule of law and for integrity.
She exemplified grace under pressure.
She is a hero for our times.
#GoMasha is trending on Twitter.
Thank you, Ambassador Yovanovitch for restoring our faith that our government and our democratic values will survive the bigotry, the toxic nationalism, the authoritarianism, and the constant lying of the Trump era.

A woman’s woman.
Amen.

We all that for the past month, the state department and William Barr’s minions have been scouring through every bit of correspondence — every e-mail or text or memo she sent over the last 30+ years — to find something they could take out of context to smear her.
So it is to her credit that they haven’t been able to find anything. We can be certain that they have been desperately trying anything to justify the fact that the US President didn’t simply “fire her” as he is allowed to do, but chose to embark on a smear campaign to discredit her.
By the way, William Barr made a speech in which he basically implied that President Donald Trump could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue, but our Constitution has mandated that a President is allowed to commit any crime because the will of the people is that he must serve until the next election and be able to do kill anyone he wants in the meantime.
What is shocking is that no reporter ever asks Mr. Barr why he would be going to foreign countries to investigate any wiretapping that happened under the Obama administration and demanding that foreign countries help him investigate what the Obama administration did, because Barr himself insists that the President can do anything he wants while in office. It is a symptom of how cowardly even so-called liberal media like the NY Times is that they don’t even question that Bart insists that he has to investigate what Obama did, but that the Trump administration is beyond any law.
I think William Barr needs to be impeached. When an attorney general does not understand the basics of the US Constitution, we have a big problem.

I echo Bob’s remarks and concur. It is all to easy to get swamp fever and forget that we do have in our midst many unsung officials who have integrity and wisdom and courage.

I proudly served in the Diplomatic corps, US Foreign Service, Department of State for five years. (Disclaimer: I was an IT professional, with no representational duties).
The person you saw in the hearings, is typical of the professional diplomats that serve our nation overseas.

Yes, she is a remarkable woman, courageous and dignified. But who would want to work for the government when someone of this quality is hounded and vilified by its so-called leaders? Thanks to Adam Schiff for calling out 45 for his idiotic tweets, which were witness tampering/intimidation.
