Mercedes Schneider wrote a post about Cory Booker’s brother, Cary, who opened two charter schools in Tennessee with an ally. His application had lofty goals. He pledged that 95% of his students would score proficient on state tests. He and his partner were astonished when the state took their promise seriously. Apparently they were just engaging in marketing by making a promise they had no intention of fulfilling.
Their charters were closed.
But no worry. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy creates a sinecure for Cary Booker, again in education. The moral of the story: Deformers fail upwards.
Cary and Cory?
Do they have a sister (Madame) Curie, by chance?
Their sister’s name is Curry, middle name, Favor.
How precious!
Cory’s last name should have been Hooker because he has done nothing but prostitute himself throughout his entire political career.
Crude, vulgar, but true . . . . .
Accountability is for ordinary schmucks, not for Deformer Masters of the Universe.
There is accountability and there is account ability.
Cary and Cory have the latter.
Maybe Curie too.
Do you mean Curry, Poet?
I have always admired Curie (Marie)!
If Cary fails at his New Jersey gig, he can move on to carry water for another untalented brother, Jeb Bush. He can become a member of chiefs for cash.
Koch network has a new lobbying group promoting public education system privatization:

Very slick. A mish-mash of upbeat marketing terms- clearly designed by professional sales/political people.
Completely opaque too. No information on who works there, who funds it- nothing.
For some reason they don’t want people to know who funds it or who works there.
Expect the echo chamber in both private sector and government to be parroting the fresh slogans. There’s always coordination.
and the fact remains that once one Booker or the other chooses to play the charter school game, no matter how badly their own charter experiment plays out they are then directly connected to Big Money names and channels
“We’ve built an education model that works like a factory. We assume kids enter looking nearly the same. We file and chisel them away so they fit our model. And when they don’t, we cast them aside and focus on the average.”
Nearly identical to DeVos’ campaign marketing. One funded by the public, one funded by billionaires- identical.
I wonder who the “we” is? These people haven’t been anywhere near a public school in 4 generations. The Koch’s couldn’t find one with a map. Do they know a single public school student or family personally?
Chiara, you are certainly correct: “We’ve built an education model that works like a factory. We assume kids enter looking nearly the same. We file and chisel them away so they fit our model. And when they don’t, we cast them aside and focus on the average.”
These deformers have NO DIGNITY whatsoever. They are all running around in circles kissing each others’ rear-end while threatening public school teachers and holding our students hostage … and for PROFITS, no less. Sickening.
Cory & Cary, Joe & his bro.
Hope we can get the message across that these are NOT men who deserve to be presidential candidates! (Especially RE: Joe! Booker’s #s are in the toilet…)
It’s really infuriating when know-nothings get the jobs with the big bucks and power, due to nepotism and cronyism!
There are many talented experts in Early Childhood Education (ECE), with extensive training and experience, who are much, MUCH more qualified than Cary Booker to be in charge of the state’s Department of ECE to lead their Universal PreK program! As far as I can tell, his only education experience involved opening up two charter schools –both of which failed and were closed by the state of TN. And, as most charters, they probably did not even have PreK!
I really hate that expertise has been shunned in favor of the imposter model, all the way up into the White House!
My sentiments exactly. With a little research, they might even have found someone who has successfully expanded public PreK in another state.
So this is just a favor done for Cory Booker, who will perhaps be able to steer some companion fed funds for pub PreK NJ’s way. That would be OK. But between the 2 Bookers, all they know is charters. I retain a teeny-weeny hope that the elder Booker has the sense to reach out to PreK folks w/bona fides to build his team, but I don’t see where he’d have the network to do so.
Very disappointing on the part of Phil Murphy.
