Meyerson on TAP
To the Barricades! How to Counter Trump’s New Deportation Orders. Inasmuch as virtually every policy Donald Trump implements is grotesque, it’s a good thing he telegraphs his punches.
Last night, the Tweeter-in-Chief gleefully tweeted that his immigration goons would begin deporting “millions” of undocumented immigrants next week. The Supreme Three-Year-Old isn’t much for keeping secrets; be thankful he wasn’t president on the eve of D-Day.
Now that ICE agents are under orders to run amok again, that means they’ll be once more separating parents from children—a practice not confined to families arriving at the border. They’ll be taking exemplary as well as non-exemplary humans from their homes, workplaces, and communities, incarcerating and sending them to their countries of origin where their lives may not be worth the proverbial plugged nickel.
Which means that Americans of good will need to mobilize as well. Civilly disobedient blockades of ICE offices and the jails and concentration camps where detainees are held, police non-cooperation in sanctuary cities, attorneys on call to represent the detainees—all these and more need to go into overdrive, now that our president has tipped us off to another Trumpian assault on civil society. As concerned citizens and public officials in antebellum Northern states tried and sometimes succeeded in thwarting the Southern thugs—some of them federal officials—who kidnapped fugitive slaves to return them to bondage, so the concerned citizens and public officials in our immigrant-rich cities today need to go on high alert. In the 1850s, as I wrotelast year, Northern states passed their own version of sanctuary legislation denying federal jurisdiction over escaped slaves, and citizens filled the streets to protest and occasionally stop the seizure of fugitives.
Today, another invasion of the body snatchers is set to commence. Americans, to the barricades!~ HAROLD MEYERSON

This is truly evil. It will mean that families will be separated, that dreams will be crushed, that people will have their educations interrupted, that young people who have spent their entire lives here and speak only or predominantly English will be deported to places they have little or no connection to. The human misery and suffering that will result, if this in fact happens, will be extreme. Such heartlessness has a readily identifiable etiology–purest racism.
We fought a war against Nazis in the middle of the last century. Now we have them directing policy in the United States.
This is evil and sick. I grieve for all who will be harmed by this and mostly, yes, for the children who will be separated from their parents.
Shame, shame on you, Mr. Trump, Mr. Miller.

This is tragic for so many families that have already endured so much. For many of the people the result may very well be death if they are returned to areas where the drug gangs rule. It is the most disturbing for the children that really do not fully understand what is happening to them. I agree with Bob. Shame on Trump and his misguided advisors.

I was just watching an Oprah interview where a 90 year old woman was talking about her experiences in Auschwitz concentration camp. She says that she feels for the children who now are ruthlessly being taken away from their parents. She knows that these children will be terrorized by this action for the rest of their lives.
Trump represents evil. He hates immigrants and has no ability to see that any of them are taxpayers who are contributing to our society.
He plays the racist card because his followers also hate immigrants ‘who are taking all of our jobs’. Hitler vilified the Jews and Trump is vilifying the immigrants who are starving and only wanting to survive.

“The internal expurgation of the Jewish spirit is not possible in any platonic way. For the Jewish spirit is the product of the Jewish person. Unless we expel the Jewish people. Unless we expel the Jewish people soon, they will have judaized our people within a very short time.”

If we could only deport Donald Trump and his family to North Korea. I wonder what Kim would do with them once they arrived.

Lloyd Lofthouse: Trump has no problem putting crying brown children into cages and spewing hatred towards immigrants. .
With any luck, the ‘love letters’ that Kim Jong Un sent were fake and Trump would experience the misery that he willingly puts on so many others. There is no trusting a cruel dictator nor a want-to-be-dictator who is a pathological liar.

Better yet, Donald Trump and his family end up being deported to Iran.

What trump wants from this declaration is distraction from other issues as he campaigns for the presidency. In a related story, he described the democrats as “dangerous radicals” and painted a picture of himself as freedom fighting the forces of evil that want to take away your freedom. He wants us to watch for his Kristalnacht moment as he rids the country of its immigration problem. But it will not happen. Instead, the Republican Party will continue under trump to take a quite different but more autocratic takeover of the judicial system, leaving average Americans with no representation whatsoever.
