Read this story and you will understand why the public is turning against charter schools.
Not hard to figure out. Might be something about an old-fashioned word called “democracy.”
Perhaps communities in Alabama have watched and learned from other states’ reckless policies. Privatization is not about improving education. It is about transferring taxpayers’ money over to corporations. It is an elaborate scam that will wreck the public schools of the community. It is all about politics and profiteering, not education. States that were early charter supporters or paying dearly now as their public schools fight to keep the lights on. Let’s hope that Alabama is not so gullible.
What’s so maddening is that there doesn’t seem to be a judiciary process that kicks in to make them follow their own rules. We seem to have the same problem at the federal level. It shouldn’t be so impossible to hold any branch of government accountable for “extralegal” behavior. I am so disgusted by the people making a mockery of the Constitution. I imagine that there are communities all over the country that have had it with greedy, self serving officials.
Mitch McConnell has been pushing rightwing federal judges through as rapidly as possible to roll back the past 80 years of legislation.
