Carol Burris did a thorough analysis of the abuses committed by the charter industry in California.
Please read this report and send a copy to Tony Thurmond, who just appointed a task force to study charter schools and stacked it with charter allies.
That is quite a report and it was for only one state. Imagine how long the report would be if it covered all the states.
Maybe the report should be sent to Newsom’s office as well, if Thurmond’s office is not making the committee appointments. If the governor wants a realistic outcome from the group, then a more balanced committee should be appointed. Public educators should be part of the process. Public schools are tired of bogus committees that support top down privatization and ignore public education.
bogus committees: exactly
The report is not just about California Charter Schools. California is the focus at the beginning of the report, but beginning on page 17 there are multiple issues and illustrations beyond California including –hype about the best schools with AP courses galore, multi-state charter chains, cost sto public schools and more. The report is well-written, with a mix of hair-raising stories, stats, and comparisons. It ends with a clear statement from the Network for Public Education on many issues. One of the the most important discussions is why charter schools are not public schools. Congrats to Carol and others who contributed to the report.

Are there any words related to this from Kamala Harris?
