Plunderbund, Ohio blogger, nominates Congressman Jim Jordan for an Emmy award for his abominable performance during the Michael Cohen. Rep. Jordan has already made a name for himself as the Congressman who never wears a suit jacket, just a shirt and tie.
Plunderbund writes:
The Emmy for the Worst Performance in a Continuing Role goes to … Jim Jordan of Urbana, Ohio.
How many different words can you use to describe the behavior of the coatless cur of Congress, that non-urbane, uncivil and unhinged arsonist from Urbana? Yes, the uber-partisan whom former Speaker John Boehner, a fellow Ohioan, called “A terrorist. A legislative terrorist.”
Awful perhaps. Disgusting maybe. Reprehensible certainly.
How about Predictable? Worse yet, since Jordan is now the Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee, we’re going to see many more of his worst performances in a continuing role of deflection, sliming, demonization, changing the subject, and whataboutism.
Sweet Jesus.
The very person who planned to spring articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the incendiary type who has gone out of his way in hearings to trash the FBI and the Justice Department, had this to say in his opening remarks in the Michael Cohen hearing:
This first announced witness for the 116th Congress is a guy who’s going to prison in two months for lying to Congress. Mr. Chairman, your chairmanship will always be identified with this hearing.
Come to think of it, so will the toxic behavior of the committee’s ranking member. Jordan had company in his antics of sliming a witness to deflect from the testimony of Cohen that painted a picture of criminal behavior by his patron, Donald Trump. As Plunderbund pointed out in an earlier observation about the behavior of uncivil Republicans:
Good lord. That’s only the short list of lunatics. Even John Belushi would have difficulty recruiting such a crew for his Animal House frat.
But Jordan, in his attempt to distort the significance of the hearing, got something else wrong. Contrary to his assertion, this was not the first hearing of the committee in the new Congress. The committee was convened earlier to examine the soaring costs of prescription drug prices. Perhaps Jordan was off his meds in not getting that detail right, along with other facts. Indeed, when it comes to Jordan, facts are stubborn things, Founding Father John Adams eternally reminds us.
But in addition to facts, which Jordan perpetually ignores, Congress does have duties to perform in that sacred Constitution which Jordan and his Tea Party fringe never fail to invoke. (It’s so inconvenient for them to do so.)
Like the importance of having oversight hearings to examine allegations of criminal behavior by the President of the United States. Or the need to hear testimony from others who were not called while the committee was in the complicit control of the earlier Republican deflect-and-change-the-subject majority.
What is it with Jim Jordan?
Mean? Stupid? Blinded by Tea Party Ideology? In love with Dear Leader Trump?
I saw the Trump Administration promoting another charter school yesterday.
Are ed reformers in DC actually barred from mentioning a US public school? Do they get kicked out of the echo chamber if they perform any work on behalf of the schools 90% of people attend?
I know very few of THEM attended or attend one, but the vast majority of US actually did.
This is silly. I know they’re privatization zealots but deliberately excluding public schools, students and families from their job description means they aren’t doing 90% of their jobs. Our schools are politically incorrect. Only private or privatized schools may be mentioned inside the echo chamber.
Someone on Quora asked “Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote this magnificent response:
“A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem.
For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.
So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.
Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever.
I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.
Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers.
And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness. There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface.
Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront.
Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul.
And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that.
He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat.
He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead.
There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.
So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that: Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are. You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.
God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump. And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created? If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.”
Love this quote
Bob,
Yes! his faults and those of all the other liars are hard to miss! And I ,too love your metaphor….but it is a ‘waddabout’- what about those stupid people.
But, it is OUR people who are inured to the circus of liars. We must begin a national conversation about THE LOSS OF TRUST, and the utter mendacity afoot on this landscape. We need to begin talking about the thing that ties all the plunderers together… the spread of mendacity. No civilization survives decisions based on misinformation. The war on LYING, but begin, because the daily “look at what he did,” and “look at what he just said,” is THE circus.
Busy, stressed people with no time to think about the latest audacious behavior, and who possess so little knowledge about the prior history when propaganda prevailed, will not be able to parse the ‘news’ for the truth. They just get disgusted, and tune it out.
This is happening –Thanks to the unintended consequences (UC) of the information technology, which began with the window into every home (television) and which now gives us the anarchy the internet, and the ubiquitous screens.
My college degrees included the humanities, but I am student of COMMUNICATION ARTS my minor! Television was a tiny screen, and the impact on politics was new, unimaginable to us, and hidden back then. But the manipulators, the cabal the power elite, saw their opportunity… and took every advantage of it (or as Brumack calls it “Badvantage.”
Way back in 1962, I read Vance Packard’s THE HIDDEN PERSUADERS https://www.thesocialcontract.com/artman2/publish/tsc1004/article_903.shtml Packard was prescient, but even he couldn’t have predicted the technological revolution of ubiquitous screens, pumping out 24/7 news mixed with lies..
In the sixties, Marshall McLuhan, described the danger in ‘The_Medium_is_the_Message . He was prescient, too. http://individual.utoronto.ca/markfederman/article_mediumisthemessage.htm
For decades, as a student of the media, I have pointed to “In The Absence of the Sacred,” by Jerry Mander; THE BEST EVER to explain when and how our values changed from the beneficial ones that parents and society once passed on to society, to the ones sold to us by corporate entities; http://www.scottlondon.com/reviews/mander.html
Now, Gary Brumback gives us the equation for HOW the power elite uses ignorance to assault the rule of law. He gives a context in this outstanding book, for the ‘Loss of Trust,’ devoting an entire chapter to this topic, with footnotes and unimpeachable facts as to the lies perpetrated onus by industry, government and the power elite.
His recent book,”LIFE’S TRIANGLES AND AMERICA’S POWER ELITE,” makes my head spin, as the ‘real facts’ presented by this academic scholar and historian ring with truth about how we go here. OY! I am no fan of destroying the myth about the intentions of our founding fathers, despite the factual footnotes, but it is the rest of his book which gave me what I have been looking for…the psychology–the behavior which is the CORE, the crux of everything.
As a teacher, watching behavior offers the clue to personalities. As a playwright, there is only the behavior of my characters to demonstrate to the audience just who they are watching!!!
His site is http://democracyorcorpocracy.blogspot.com
And, I need to confess, that I am reading this book because he asked me to do so. We both write ant OEN, and we are both on the same page regarding the subject of Behavior (he holds two PH’Ds in psychology and has been anorganizaitonal psychologist forever –here is his author’s page: https://www.opednews.com/author/author72187.ht You can actually message him there.
Sometimes, I wish hadn’t read it. It shatters any illusions I had about how we got to this moment, because born in 1941, I was schooled in the noble ideas about how America began, and what we stand for.
I love this country. I love the Emma Lazarus poem on The Statue of Liberty… of which Trump makes a mockery. But, I think we need to begin a conversation about TRUTH, and to nail MENDACITY as the weaponization of disinformation, with the liars as anecdotal, and the use of lies as the reality.
When i listen to Trump at CPAC, and I read this, I am astonished that in the 21st Century, such as these represent us….and since they were voted into office, this means that in this day of information technology, the people either have no information that resembles observable reality so that they can be bamboozled, or they are ignorant beyond anything imaginable.
But then, I wrote the essay ( link below) over a decade ago, when the assault on teachers began. Nothing defines the ploy in the plot to destroy America, then to remove from the schools, the voices that know what learning looks like WLLL and substitute ‘alternate facts”. Take out the teachers and trust the schools. VOILA! You have the children, who are the future

This was in the Boulder Camera this morning. The state (remember Polis is Governor) is now pushing this and I disagree totally.
Parents need to OPT their children out of those awful tests. Those tests are so BAD, and they are used a a NOOSE.
I hope students continue to OPT OUT of those tests, even though CO’s state deformers of education want otherwise. It’s a game.

BVSD: Students should opt in
District encouraging parents through Take the Test Campaign
By Amy Bounds
Staff Writer
Boulder Valley School District leaders want to see last year’s increased participation rates on state tests become a trend.
With state testing coming up next month, the district is again actively encouraging parents to opt in through its Take the Test campaign.
“Taking the test is a benefit to the school district,” Boulder Valley spokesman Randy Barber said. “It really gives us an apples to apples comparison of our schools to other schools across the state.”
Boulder Valley, which previously had one of the highest opt-out rates in the state, reversed course last year from its hands-off approach to state testing.
The district again this year is asking — though not requiring — families to keep students who are opting out home from school during testing.
Boulder Valley also previously offered an online optout form for parents, while parents now are asked to contact their schools — giving school principals the opportunity to talk about testing benefits.
Coupled with the state’s decision to cut back on high school tests, the district’s encouragement seems to have worked.
While Boulder Valley didn’t hit the federal 95 percent participation target last year, participation rates improved significantly, which district officials said in turn boosted the district’s state accreditation rating to the highest category.
Under the state accountability system, students whose parents excuse them from taking the state tests don’t count against a district’s participation rate. But too many unexcused no shows can lower a district’s state rating.
On tests taken in the spring, the district’s elementary participation rate
averaged 96 percent. At middle school, it averaged 86 percent.
A little more than 90 percent of ninth- and 10th-graders also took the PSAT, while 88 percent of juniors took the SAT — both taken nationally and used to measure student readiness for college.
“Students see value in PSAT and SAT,” said Jonathan Dings, Boulder Valley’s Executive Director of Student Assessment.
The one test where participation remained low was the only state-level content area test taken by high schoolers, 11th-grade science. That test garnered about 30 percent participation.
“Science is important in our community,” Dings said. “We remain hopeful we will see increased participation.”
Low participation rates also make it especially difficult to look at achievement of specific groups of students at each school, such as students in poverty or students with learning disabilities, district officials said.
That’s because the state doesn’t release achievement scores for groups smaller than 16 students, or growth scores for groups smaller than 20 students.
“We have better data now and have been more able to use that data in the current strategic plan process,”
While on the subject of the scum in charge of ‘upholding the rule of law,’’ here is another one from my file– UTTER CONTEMPT– which offers a clue to why it is LOSS OF TRUST, in the justice system, in lawyers and the law, that is the real weapon of the power elite in the 21st century
“It was a deal so sweet it would rot your teeth. It also turned out to be illegal,” says The NY Times, about “The Cowardly Labor Secretary’ Alexander Acosta, “who stocked the defense team of Jeffrey Ep$tein (the sexual predator of young girls) with legal stars such as Alan Dershowitz, Kenneth Starr, Jay Lefkowitz and Roy Black —so they would put together “a non-prosecution agreement that” ( WAIT UNTIL YOU READ THIS) “let Mr. Epstein avoid federal charges, plead guilty to two state counts of felony prostitution, and serve less than 13 months in a private wing of the Palm Beach County jail, with most days spent on work-release in his office in West Palm Beach. Mr. Epstein was required to register as a sex offender and pay restitution to some of the young women, but the agreement shut down the F.B.I. investigation and gave immunity to all “potential co-conspirators” — including any of Mr. Epstein’s rich and powerful buddies who may have taken a turn with his victims.”
“If even a fraction of the accusations against him are true, Mr. Epstein was no ordinary predator. (Those with a weak stomach may want to skip ahead.) For years, he allegedly turned his Palm Beach mansion into a sex den, luring in teenagers whom he paid and coerced into an array of sexual behavior. Mr. Epstein reportedly groomed some of the teenagers to recruit even younger, fresher victims. He was said to like his girls white and prepubescent looking. One victim has recalled that Mr. Epstein praised her as “pure” — she was 14 at the time — before molesting her. Like many predators, he preferred his victims troubled, making them easier to manipulate and less likely to be believed if they reported him.”
The Harvard Crimson 12-3-2018
“Billionaire and Convicted Sex Offender Jeffrey Epstein Boasts Deep Long-standing Ties to Harvard”.
It would be preferable if the harvard think tank (with students) could claim it has no values nor soul. But, evidently, it is in a worse position than that.
AOC informed the public about harvard’s distorted view of America which she learned at its Congressional Freshman seminar.
The voters in Jordan’s district are stupid so they think that what Trump and Jordan say is intelligent. On the other hand, intelligent people listen to Jordan and Trump and recognize the two men are stupid.
Stupid people are extremely thin-skinned about their mental deficits.
And from the UTTER CONTEMPT file of Susan Lee Schwartz , comes Attorney General William Barr will not recuse himself from overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election!” https://www.huffpost.com/entry/william-bar-recusal-robert-mueller-inquiry_n_5c7dd201e4b07fa0e234910b?ncid=newsltushpmgnews__TheMorningEmail__030519
But that is not what got my attention about him– this guy a the top of our justice system..
“In a 1995 essay, https://scholarship.law.stjohns.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2355&context=tcl Barr expressed the extremist Christian view that “American government should not be secular;” secularism is an abomination in Barr’s theocratic mind despite the law of the land is unmistakably secular. Furthermore, Barr contends America’s government is supposed to be imposing “a transcendent moral order with objective standards of right and wrong that flows from God’s eternal law;” eternal law best dictated by the Vatican and taught in public schools at taxpayer’s expense”.
And aiding and abetting the placement of such people A T THE TOP, people whose mendacity goes beyond mere lying , to theWEAPONIZING OF DISINFORMAITON –we we have Bet$y DeVo$ whose gives us the “Plan To Force God, Into Public Schools!”
https://www.patheos.com/blogs/progressivesecularhumanist/2017/02/report-plan-force-god-public-schools-released/?fbclid=IwAR3XAzN9lNa54pOBTTkwBiqEugHyDrPuuF6ErvKUb27DZensFsupJ3w_wNs
I know that you all know this, as this blog nails Bet$y, –but just reading this offers a look into the MENDACITY afoot as the power elite gives us manipulating liars Jordon, Trump , Barr and –welll my file is very very long)
The CNP Education Committee pledges itself to work toward achievable goals based on uncompromised principles, so that their very success will provoke a popular return to the Judeo-Christian principles of America’s Founders who, along with America’s pioneers, believed that God belonged in the classroom.
The report calls for the dismantling of the Department of Education, claiming it is “unconstitutional, illegal and contrary to America’s education practice for 300 years from early 17th century to Colonial times.”
The Education Department is to be replaced with “Presidency’s Advisory Council on Public Education Reform.” The Council would:
1 Restore Ten Commandments posters to all K-12 public schools.
2 Clearly post America’s Constitution and Declaration of Independence.
3 Encourage K-12 schools to recognize traditional holidays (e.g., Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas) as celebrations of our Judeo-Christian heritage.
4 Implement select bible classes, such as Chuck Stetson’s Bible Literacy Project.
5 Encourage instruction on U.S. and world history from the Judeo-Christian perspective for middle school and high school history and civics classes.
6 Develop and recommend in-service training on philosophy of education for K-12 faculty based on historical Judeo-Christian philosophy of education.
7 Strongly push states to remove secular-based sex education materials from school facilities, and emphasize parental instruction.
One last thing, before I go out to shovel the snow in my driveway… I am convinced that the crux of all this — is the very acceptance that everyone does it… that’s what people do…MENDACITY is the NORM like never before becasue our president is the model.. using the anarchy of cyberspace to assault the law and th eTRUST of our people.
“Between the world of chaos and the world of order stands the rule of law.”(Never mind who said it. )
We need to shift the focus to mendacity… how the lie itself is undermining everything.
Here’s a good one to read.
America Has a Cheating Crisis (Why Leaders Should Worry About It) https://blog.liberationist.org/why-cheating-is-like-pouring-wine-in-a-barrel-3df1acd91c5a
THIS cannot stand!
We need to talk , talk, talk not merely about the lies of this one or that one– but about the Loss of Truth , which gives us the LOSS OF TRUST.

(not on topic). I found this marvelous quiz. Please post it
http://www.isi.org/quiz.aspx?q=FE5C3B47-9675-41E0-9CF3-072BB31E2692
The actor Richard Dreyfuss is putting up several millions of his money, to bring civics education back to public schools.
I met with Richard Dreyfuss a few years ago. We met for two hours. He talked about himself nonstop for two hours. I never figured out how he planned to “bring civics education” back, especially since most states already require it.
Are you satisfied, with the current level of civic awareness, and constitutional literacy, that the American people possess? I am not. The level of participation in elections in the USA, is lower than most wealthy nations. Most general elections see less than 50% of eligible voters participating. And primary elections see an even lower level of participation.
I would be delighted to see a more intense level of instruction in constitutional law, government, and civic literacy. The state of Texas (and other states) now require all HS students to pass the citizenship test given to alien applicants. I think this is great. My wife took the test, and it is very basic, but it is at least a start.
Charles, I told you, perhaps that you didn’t notice, that I spent two hours meeting with Richard Dreyfuss. I was not impressed.
I read that part, about your meeting. Did you discuss the initiative? Are you satisfied with the level of civic awareness and constitutional literacy of the American public? I am not.
Many people on the left and the right, would like to see a higher level of participation in our elections. A low turnout, almost always favors incumbents. If more Americans participated, we might see politicians paying closer attention to the electorate. Right now, politicos can ignore half of the people!
Yes, the initiative was the reason for the meeting.
I am very dissatisfied with the current level of civic literacy.
How could we have elected a “president” who is himself civically illiterate and knows nothing about the Constitution or the First Amendment?
Civics may be “required” in most states. But only eight(8)states have a mandatory year-long requirement. see
http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/curriculum/2019/03/states_introduce_legislation_t.html?cmp=eml-enl-eu-news3&M=58767725&U=2306083&UUID=c1a94eac9c56535ae3317f0d8229d295
There are measures underway now in seven(7) states, to increase and/or expand civics education in the public schools.
I am delighted with this development, it may start a trend.
All citizens should have a basic grounding in civics and constitutional law.
Q How could we have elected a “president” who is himself civically illiterate and knows nothing about the Constitution or the First Amendment? END Q
Easy. The Dems nominated the anti-Christ in a skirt.
Charles, I didn’t know you imbibe Russian propaganda.
Is it safe to take this quiz, Charles? https://www.nbcnews.com/video/hackers-use-facebook-quizzes-to-steal-personal-info-635552835776
I am an IT professional. Anytime you are on the ‘net, you are subject to hacking. Be cautious.
As far as I can tell, this particular quiz, seems harmless.
Thanks, Charles. I, too, care a great deal about civics education, so the quiz interests me, but I’m very wary, now, about what I click on,
Yeah! i said that was the last post on the PLUNDERERS of THE RULEOF LAW…but, here is the top-dog, the mongrel who rules our Senate– Mitch McConnell –at work today https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/04/us/politics/trump-national-emergency.html
“Mr. McConnell is exploring whether he can amend the House-passed resolution of disapproval, to send it back to the House and slow its trip to the president’s desk. Ms. Collins and Ms. Murkowski are both sponsors of a separate resolution, virtually identical to the House resolution, introduced in the Senate last week. And while a veto is highly unlikely to be overturned, the congressional majority that forces it will stand as a powerful rejection of the tactics Mr. Trump has used to fulfill his top campaign promise to build a wall on the southern border — and will apparently be the first time since passage of the National Emergencies Act of 1976 that Congress has voted to overturn an emergency declaration.” But Mitch– who does not do the bidding of WE THE PEOPLE is in full wrecking mode!
And, then there is this — as the TRUTH WILL OUT — showing how we got corrupt mobster as the US President : “The Next Several Months Will Be Nonstop. Brace Yourself: “https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/04/opinion/trump-nadler-obstruction.html “If you thought the past two years of inquiries into possible misbehavior by Trumpworld were brutal, brace yourself. Phase 2 is about to heat up. On Monday, the Democratic-led House Judiciary Committee announced a wide-ranging inquiry into “the alleged obstruction of justice, public corruption and other abuses of power by President Trump, his associates and members of his administration.”
The war on MENDACITY and the destruction of TRUTH begins. We may never begin to restore the TRUST, if most people have no idea what is afoot…like those of us who discuss the war on truth and the loss of trust… here.
Trump’s first White House lawyer, named Ty Cobb, was interviewed on ABC today and was asked what he thought of the Mueller investigation. I paraphrase, he said, “Robert Mueller is a true American hero. He is deliberate, cautious, and committed above all to the rule of law. It is absurd to call his investigation a witch hunt.” That’s why he is no longer Trump’s lawyer. Too sane, too responsible. Mob boss needs a corrupt lawyer.
the link “The Next Several Months Will Be Nonstop. Brace Yourself: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/04/opinion/trump-nadler-obstruction.html
In my humble opinion, his behavior is due to the fact that he is compromised in some major way, also, and is really trying to protect himself. He stands to go down in flames if all of the facts are allowed to come out.
You got that right… but he is also a sociopath, with no empathy so he is unable to comprehend the consequences for his behavior . The whole world not just the British see his behavior for what it says about him… how needy he is for attention and power, how impulsive he is, how ignorant and confused he is about everything (including how to make ‘deals the work) .He is not stable, and when as the president of the US he gets up and does this act, because he sees an audience, and cannot differentiate between a tv audience, rally, or a place where governments meet, then EVERYONE knows he is not Stable.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/03/02/donald-trump-cpac-president-speaks-following-cohen-hearing-korea/3039138002/
The problem is, that our corrupt legislature is impeding the process to rid the executive office of an incompetent person, unable to fulfill the duties or adhere to the oath. McConnell needs to be voted out, (and jailed if you ask me) for his obstruction of our laws.
IMHO, Don, you nailed it.
He’s been named in a lawsuit against the Ohio State University sports program for covering up/not following up on reports of sexual abuse by one of the department’s doctors.
Psychologists Jonathan Haidt has done research suggesting that people fall into distinct groups according to where they stand with regard to each of the following six “moral foundations”:
Care/Harm,
Fairness/Cheating,
LibertyOppression
Loyalty/Betrayal,
Authority/Subversion,
Sanctity (or Purity)/Degradation
So, for example, Conservatives care a lot about loyalty, authority, and sanctity, whereas liberals care a lot about care and fairness. They have very different ideas about what liberty means.
But let’s think just for a moment about the loyalty one. This is a biggie for conservatives. So, imagine the position that Don the Con puts Republicans in. They care bunches and bunches about loyalty to the party. They will never stop talking about John McCain’s vote on Obamacare. But the Don, Cheeto
Trumpbalone, puts them in a fix. Someone like Representative Jim Jordan must get up every day worried about what breathtakingly stupid thing Trump is going to do today that he will then have to adopt as his own position in order to remain loyal. All that shape shifting has to take a toll.
So, pity the poor Repugnicans and the pretzels they’ve had to tie themselves into. Yes, we think the wall would be very cost effective. Yes, we love rule by Emergency Declaration. Yes, we love our pals Vlad and Kim. Yeah, we’re just so happy about the firing of James Mattis and pulling out of Syria and undermining NATO.
What a burden to bear. Every day, a new low to plunge to, new idiocies to parrot. So pity Congresssman Jordan. Being a contortionist for a living can’t be easy.
