This week is National School Choice Week.
Since 1994, Congress has allocated billions of dollars to expand and launch charter schools.
This year, Congress will award nearly $500 million to charter schools that are already supported by billionaires.
Stop the School Choice Scam! Congress should allocate money to underfunded public schools, instead of wasting money on charters and vouchers chosen by fewer than 10% of students across the nation.

I only vote for people who SUPPORT our Public Schools & our Public School Teaches.

Not just our congresspeople but also our governors and senators.
We might also want to flood the mean, corrupt billionaire oligarchs mailboxes with nasty letters telling them what we think of them … but without any threats like the Alt-Right does for anyone that speaks out against their greed, corruption, racism and hate.

Another example of why I feel Marcia Fudge should not be taken seriously. It’s great to be known as <Field(Salutation)> and getting a poorly written press release as a response. She truly has no idea what a committee assignment is.
Dear <Field(Salutation)>
Thank you for contacting me regarding education. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your Representative and I sincerely value your opinion in this matter.
In Congress, I serve on the Education and the Workforce Committee, and I am a member of the Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education Subcommittee. These assignments give me the unique opportunity to advocate on behalf of students, teachers and parents and to strengthen our education system.
As with many other important issues, education policy is extremely complex and has many moving parts. If our students are to achieve, and our teachers succeed, we must sufficiently fund programs from Head Start to professional development. We must make sure that our schools are learning environments where students feel safe and comfortable. And we must have an educational system which prepares our young people for the jobs of the future and keeps America competitive in the 21st century.
For my district and all of America, I will continue to promote enhanced policies and programs to strengthen our nation’s public education system. That is why I have introduced H.R.1343, the “Project Ready STEM Act,” which would promote and fund STEM educational initiatives, and H.R. 2160, the “Promoting Health as Youth Skills In Classrooms And Life Act,” which would define health and physical education as core academic subjects.
Your thoughts and concerns are important to me and I thank you for taking an active role in the legislative process. Democracy works best when we stay in touch, so I invite you to sign-up for email updates at fudge.congressnewsletter.net. I am honored to serve you, so please feel free to contact me at http://www.fudge.house.gov or call my D.C. office (202-225-7032) should you need assistance or further information.
Sincerely,
Marcia L. Fudge

“Congress should allocate money to underfunded public schools, instead of wasting money on charters and vouchers” would come across much stronger than “Congress should allocate money to underfunded public schools, instead of wasting money on charters and vouchers chosen by fewer than 10% of students across the nation” because the latter implies that you are against spending money on charters BECAUSE they enroll ONLY 10% of students, further implying that IF they enrolled MORE students, this spending would become justified.

federal spending on charter school is never justified because they have no financial need. They are funded by dozens of billionaires and multi millionaires
