Never before have we had a president who used Twitter to reveal the workings of his mind, his rages, resentments, bitterness.
Here is this morning’s illustrated Tweet, imagining his many enemies in prison, locked up, jailed for daring to cross him.
These are the dreams of a despot.

After all of his inanities and idiotic spewings, how does this man have any followers? His yammerings when he was on the scene of the fires in California, were jaw droppingly stupid and false. And yet, here he is making policy, his hands on the nuclear codes, appointing far right wing/libertarian judges here, there and everywhere and giving huge tax cuts to the rich.

He has followers because (a) his supporters are equally as juvenile as he is and (b) his opposition hangs on his every word breathlessly awaiting their daily dose of outrage (which, as I’ve said before, is exactly what he wants). I have never admired Trump in any way, but I’m starting to admit I may have underestimated his genius for manipulation and puppet mastery.

Yes he should be impeached and imprisoned. Let the Senate try defending him in an impeachment trial. Blue tsunami to follow.

The man is president, he’s the commander in chief of the most powerful military on earth and by his judicial appointments he is shaping the future of this country for decades. Ignoring Trump would be like ignoring a ravenous hyena in your kitchen. I don’t choose to stick my head in the sand though I do admit that I avoid listening to him whenever possible, I don’t do Twitter. In any case, one does have to pay attention to what he says and does because he’s the president. I’m a mere mortal, I don’t reside on Mount Olympus.

Just look in your mirror to learn why Trump still has supporters.

He has followers in Mississippi who think it is fine for their newly elected Senator to wish for public lychings…just like in the olden days?

Not so olden. Lynchings have been replaced by intimidation and de facto apartheid. Now the rope is longer.

In psychology, projection refers to a defense mechanism whereby a person projects onto others things he doesn’t like or want to accept about himself.
The bottom line is that Trump is a traitor. He conspired with Russia, a hostile foreign power, to spread misinformation and lies, to amplify them, and to undermine the democratic process.
But he didn’t do it alone. He had lots of help, from people like Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, Steve Bannon, Roger Stone, Jerome Corsi, Michael Cohen, and lots more, including Fox News.
Trump ran an openly racist, xenophobic, misogynist campaign. And people voted for him, including 81 percent of white so-called “Christian” evangelicals. There are lots of people in America who do not subscribe to the core values of the American republic.
“A republic, madam, if you can keep it.”

Trump’s Labor Secretary, Acosta, who oversees child labor and human trafficking gave a very sweet deal to hedge funder Jeffrey Epstein (at the time, Acosta was a prosecutor in Florida). The deal was kept secret from Epstein’s victims. Epstein’s co-conspirators were allowed to remain unnamed in court documents, as part of the deal. “Jeffrey Epstein was a key witness in a federal fraud case around the same time that Acosta ‘helped the serial sex abuser secure a 13 month sentence for trafficking minors’ ” (Daily Mail 11/29/2018)
Of course, the Bear Stearns executives who were the target of the fraud case were acquitted. Wins all around for everyone but the victims.
It’s what Americans, sickeningly, expect “justice” to look like for the wealthy.
It’s behavior that the hypocritical evangelicals have no trouble ignoring because they are Christians in name only.
