Neo-Nazis and white nationalists are overjoyed by Trump referring to himself as a “nationalist.” Hate crimes have surged since Trump’s election. His rhetoric has encouraged the haters, the racists, and the anti-Semites to emerge into the open. Now they have a leader who welcomes their support.

“White supremacists are saying they were winners in last week’s midterm elections.
“They were already emboldened by the language used by President Donald Trump and senior members of his administration — words like “nationalist” and “invasion” that have hateful dual meanings — according to a review of sites frequented by white supremacists. And they saw Tuesday’s results as a victory for white America with what they believe will be progress toward a border wall, an end to DACA, or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, and birthright citizenship.
“Memes and commentary on the neo-Nazi Daily Stormer site bashed nonwhite candidates who did not win, as well as losses by Republicans not seen as Trump loyalists.
“”This changed history. It cleared away any of the remaining fog of confusion about what exactly we are dealing with in this country,” Daily Stormer founder and publisher Andrew Anglin wrote. “This is a race war. Period.”
“What is not clear is if any extremists will follow words with violence, as allegedly happened with Robert Bowers, who has pleaded not guilty to killing 11 people at a synagogue late last month, allegedly because he believed Jews were helping “invaders.”
We will get through this dark period in our national life. But it will require all of us who believe in American ideals of justice, equality before the law, respect for others, and basic human decency to stand up and be counted, to organize, to resist and to persist until this national nightmare has gone away and the rats are back in their holes.
As I mentioned once before, the Firing Line interview with Max Boot, is a ‘must see’. He speaks about how we must not be complacent about the Trumpification of the GOP, which is no longer the Republican Party, but the beginning of a Nationalist party that enables this would-be dictator. You posted his WaPo oped, where he warned “Vote Against Republicans. Every Single One.” https://dianeravitch.net/?s=max+boot

Yes, the Neo-Nazis and white nationalists are coming out of their holes thinking they can’t be stopped but the day of reckoning for them is coming because good people can only take so much before they get angry enough to do something to stop it.
Do these neo-nazis realize that Trump is hardly a nationalist? He’s a globalist, indebted to global finance, just like them “librul socialist Dimocrats” the neo-nazis like to rail about. Trump will happily sell them to the highest bidder and he certainly doesn’t care for improving their miserable lot in life. They’re getting punked.
It’s a sad state of affairs when the right-wingers are looking to Trump to rescue them from global neoliberalism while the liberals are looking to the Democrats to save them from Trump. Meanwhile, Trump, the Republicans, the Democrats, the neocons and the neolibs are all hanging out at their fancy country clubs laughing all the way to the bank.
Vice just did a show on how Trump is emboldening white nationalists in Europe. Even in liberal Sweden, these people are crawling out from under their rocks. They were giving out bumber stickers with Trump 2020 on them at their rally and chanting “Fight the Islamic Invasion.” Trump is the hero of global swine.
The Indivisibles is out with a 2.0 version of their strategies for effective political action. It has specific recommendations for the new Congress as well as state and local initiatives.
Dump is DISGUSTING. All this hate he stirs up he does in order to “FEED” at others’ cost his arrested, and most fragile ego. Trump needs to pit others against one another … that is what HATERS do. Dump is the WORST potus ever. He’s a nightmare.
An editorial from the Boulder Camera about that dump and fascism.
Fascists must be confronted
By Dick Regan
Notwithstanding the guy’s infinite greed, lies and vulgarity, it is not about him. The demagogue is not the cause. It is about the mob supporting him. It is “the mob” that our Founding Fathers most feared in introducing universal suffrage. The demagogue merely triggers this “reveal.” The mob is the cause and the source of fascism.
And yet the mob is itself merely a secondary factor. The great reveal, the primary factor is the apathetic passivity of the victims (the impotent opposition: us). We are the problem.
But the good news is, if we are the problem, our solution is at hand, if we choose to act. Neither complexity nor fear of confrontation should be barriers.
They think they have God on their side. They do not. Their evangelical panderers are cynical frauds, fully recognized by all of us, whatever our spiritual foundations.
A sobering reality: The mob is armed to the hilt. Their tortured mindsets and weaponry cannot be underestimated. But why in the name of God would we persist in facing such a mob placidly, with courtesy, deference, tolerancefor- our-differences? Let us brace ourselves.
The strategic solution: Every single one of us must address every single one of them. Specifically, each of us brings uncompromising activist pressure on each of them within our social, spiritual and economic reach. No exceptions. No excuses.
This may not be easy, but it is necessary and long overdue: They are obviously dangerous politically. But they are equally dangerous in their unchallenged fundamentalist, racial, socioeconomic, delusional pretensions. And again, their weaponry and sense of entitlement is monstrous. But if we ever wanted to join a battle so glorious, so worthy, this is our time.
Fascism had civilization on the run 80 years ago. Like lambs, “nice people” were going to slaughter. Rick’s Café in Casablanca was a site. But note that when the bullies commandeered the piano and pounded their “Fatherland” song against the crowd, one man, Victor Laszlo, stood up. He demanded that the café band play “La Marseillaise” over the fascist bullies’ “Fatherland” song. Following Laszlo, the people stood. They sang. The bullies slouched off.
This is our chance, our time. Play “La Marseillaise.”

In the pendulum that is societal mentality, we are proceeding so far toward fascism that it is historically legitimate to consider what might result. Failure to pull the pendulum toward the center through the ballot box might result in a quick jump to the left with its consequent re-education camps and suppression of civil liberties.
German conservatives, sure that htiler could be controlled through the party apparatus, followed Paul Hindenberg to support hitler in order to contain him. We all know how this worked out. What we also know is that one group can move America away from its rightward tilt: the Republician Party. Democrats who decry the harsh retoric can easily be labeled as subversive with various coded language, but republicans can stand and face this threat to national identity with courage. But will they?
A bare few of the grand old paltry have spoken out against the tyranny inherent in the policies of this new nationalism. If enough republicans had seen the nastiness in the person who was running for office and voted for his opponent, we would not be saddled with the embarrassment that is the present presidency. But they kept their peace or joined in with him, creating division rather than cohesion. If the United States ends up under the yoke of fascism these voters can take out the mirror to determine the cause. There are enough respected republican voices that can pull this country back toward a real center. But will they cry out?
The republicans have been the “grand old pawns” of Trumpism. They remain quiet for the most part while their nationalist president creates an even greater divide in our country. While Trump shocks and provokes, the republicans have been working quietly to undermine democracy and the stability of the working class.
Never give fascism a pass.
I still see a lot of people saying that there’s no difference between the parties, Pelosi and Schumer are just as bad as the GOP, blah, blah. WRONG! Do people not understand that the GOP has gone off the rails into the far right wing/libertarian rat hole to a frightening degree. Trying to form a true progressive 3rd party while admirable will take decades. Infiltrating the Democratic party with liberal/progressives is doable and is happening as with AOC, Bernie, Warren and others. Voting is important and still matters: the Democrats did take back the House, that’s big. Thom Hartmann is not some right winger or corporate neoliberal and he is not anti-Pelosi; she may not be a progressive but she’s not a right wing fascist. We don’t need another circular firing squad which, in part, gave us Trump.
People like Jimmy Dore are still frothing at the mouth about Hillary and the Democrats, he feels that it’s hopeless voting for Democrats and that a progressive party must be formed. Good luck with that. I wish we had a viable 3rd party, progressive workers’ party. The key word is viable which we are not even close at having.
