Mercedes Schneider noticed that Peter Cunningham, the editor or former editor of the billionaire Education Post, is campaign manager for mayoral candidate Bill Daley. Cunningham worked for Arne Duncan in the U.S. Department of Education, where he strongly defended Duncan’s zeal for closing schools with low test scores.
Is this a signal that a new Mayor Daley would double down on zrahm Emanuel’s horrifying record of closing public schools? Rah my set a record unequalled in American history by closing 50 schools in a single day. Never happened before. Will Daley follow the Duncan-Rahm path?

Good grief. This is so wrong. Wonder if these deformers are just brain dead laced with GREED.

Oops! I meant my comment for the post about the lottery. Sorry!

Regarding this post, we have to know based on history that Daley would close as many public facilities as he could if given the chance. Corporate reformsters are cold blooded like mobsters in Chicago.

Yes. Their only concern is pushing the poor entirely out, not setting up any support to keep the poor within city limits

Please note, too, that Gery Chico (former CPS Board President) & Paul Vallas (need I describe him to you all?) are also running for mayor. So, we have the 3 Stooges here.
No, I’m sorry, that’s insulting the Stooges (who we love). Daley won’t win & neither will Chico, but there’s been lots of good press (from both Chicago papers) lately: he has “unveiled plans.” Pleeeaase. A Page 2 (always the whole page) columnist in the Chicago Tribune urged him to run, & proclaimed his praises. A progressive talk radio host said he believes Vallas isn’t in favor of charters (wait, what?). And so on…
So far, 17 people are running. P.V. was in the top 4 (#2, in fact, when polls were done while it was thought that Rahm would still be in the race {he was #1}). Look how we got #45, proving that anything can happen.
For all of you readers who live in Chicago, & understand Vallas’ history, please share that
with all your friends, relatives & colleagues who will vote in Chicago.
&–BTW–Troy LaRaviere, President of the Chicago Principals’ Assn. & canned CPS Principal (for speaking truth to power) is running.
