I hope this Washington Post story is not behind a pay wall. I will post chunks of opt, but some consists of photos and tweets. You should buy a subscription and read this portrait of madness.
The thread invited “requests to Q,” an anonymous user claiming to be a government agent with top security clearance, waging war against the so-called deep state in service to the 45th president. “Q” feeds disciples, or “bakers,” scraps of intelligence, or “bread crumbs,” that they scramble to bake into an understanding of the “storm” — the community’s term, drawn from Trump’s cryptic reference last year to “the calm before the storm” — for the president’s final conquest over elites, globalists and deep-state saboteurs.
What Tuesday’s rally in Tampa made apparent is that devotees of these falsehoods — some of which are specific to faith in the president, others garden-variety nonsense with racist and anti-Semitic undertones — don’t just exist in the far reaches of the Web.
Believers in “QAnon,” as the conspiracy theory is known, were front and center at the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall, where Trump came to stump for Republican candidates. As the president spoke, a sign rose from the audience. “We are Q,” it read. Another poster displayed text arranged in a “Q” pattern: “Where we go one we go all.”
The symbol appeared on clothing, too. A man and a woman wore matching white T-shirts with the YouTube logo encircled in a blue “Q.” The video-sharing website came under criticism this week for unwittingly becoming a platform for baseless claims, first promoted on Twitter and Reddit by QAnon believers, that certain Hollywood celebrities are pedophiles. A search for the name of one of those celebrities on Monday returned videos purporting to show his victims sharing their stories.
Audience members at a Trump rally on July 31 in Tampa wear T-shirts referring to the “QAnon” conspiracy theory. (The Washington Post)
The prominence of the “Q” symbol turned parts of the audience into a tableau of delusion and paranoia — and offered evidence that QAnon, an outgrowth of the #Pizzagate conspiracy theory that led a gunman to open fire in a D.C. restaurant last year, has leaped from Internet message boards to the president’s “Make America Great Again” tour through America.
“Pray Trump mentions Q!” one user wrote on 8chan. He didn’t need to. As hazy corners of the Internet buzzed about the president’s speech, his appearance became a real-life show of force for the community that has mostly operated behind the veil of anonymity on subreddits.
Trump himself has at times been a purveyor of conspiracy theories, most notably in refusing for years to back down from his false claim that Barack Obama was not born in the United States. He also asserted without evidence that Obama had wiretapped Trump Tower, peddled the debunked idea that millions of illegal votes cost him the popular vote and associated the father of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas with the assassin who shot John F. Kennedy.
But viewing their message boards, it’s clear that QAnon crosses a new frontier. In the black hole of conspiracy in which “Q” has plunged its followers, Trump only feigned collusion to create a pretense for the hiring of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, who is actually working as a “white hat,” or hero, to expose the Democrats. Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and George Soros are planning a coup — and traffic children in their spare time. J.P. Morgan, the American financier, sank the Titanic.
In the world in which QAnon believers live, Trump’s detractors, such as Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, wear ankle monitors that track their whereabouts. Press reports are dismissed as “Operation Mockingbird,” the name given to the alleged midcentury infiltration of the American media by the CIA. The Illuminati looms large in QAnon, as do the Rothschilds, a wealthy Jewish family vilified by the conspiracy theorists as the leaders of a satanic cult. Among the world leaders wise to satanic influences, the theory holds, is Russian President Vladimir Putin.
QAnon flirts with eschatology, fascist philosophy and the filmmaking of Francis Ford Coppola. Adherents believe a “Great Awakening” will precede the final storm foretold by Trump. Once they make sense of the information drip-fed to them by “Q,” they will usher in a Christian revival presaging total victory.
The implication is that resolving the clues left by “Q” would not just explain Trump’s planned countercoup. It would also explain the whole universe.
When “Q” is absent for long stretches of time, followers take note.
“Please tell me where to go,” one wrote last month. “I feel lost without Q.”
Some big names have bought into the fantasy. Roseanne Barr, the disgraced star of the canceled ABC revival that bore her name, has posted messages on Twitter that appear to endorse the QAnon worldview, fixating on child sex abuse. She has sought to make contact with “Q” on social media and has retweeted messages summarizing the philosophy built around the online persona. Among QAnon’s promoters are also Curt Schilling, the former Boston Red Sox pitcher, and Cheryl Sullenger, the antiabortion activist.

‘…they will usher in a Christian revival presaging total victory…” This is beyond insanity. Even so-called intelligent people are buying into this worthless conspiracy. What kind of real Christian would get near this garbage? This is a new step downward.
I can’t wait for Trump to be totally gone, gone, gone and gone. How many years does he have left since he doesn’t eat healthy nor exercise?

Meet QAnon: The Deranged Conspiracy Theory That’s Surging Among Trump Supporters @alternet
…The full spray of QAnon information includes: How violent criminal John McCain must wear an ankle bracelet and be tracked at all times, the harem of child sex slaves owned by Tom Hanks, and how Trump actually installed Robert Mueller as part of an ongoing plan to capture the Muslim terrorist Barack Obama. At the climax of the consensus narrative, Trump supporters will have to unite for a mighty Good vs Evil fight in which Hillary will team up with George Soros in an attempt to overthrow the government, only to be cast down by Trump, who will then usher in a new age of Christian righteousness. One led by Donald Trump and, you guessed it, Vladimir Putin. Because in QAnon, Putin is one of the few who can see through the Jewish plot to turn the world to Satan. And yes, in QAnon, Jews are satanists. Not surprisingly, many QAnon followers also consider themselves evangelicals…

I just spent a week in Tennessee and there is very widespread support for Trump there. For instance, there was an ad that ran a lot on TV for a woman running for governor talking all about how much she has done to help Trump with his policies. In my blue state that would be an attack ad run by the opposition, but there it must be considered the best way to turn out the vote for her. Why do you suppose that is? Is all of Tennessee “nut jobs”?
Or is it maybe that Trump speaks to something that liberals are refusing to hear (even if he is speaking with forked tongue)?

Glad to have you in our fair state. I have written here many times about why tennesseans seem to think Trump is the answer. What you did not meet are the ones who think otherwise.
Tennessee is actually three states in one. West Tennessee has historically been republican in the rural areas and democrat in Memphis. Middle Tennessee is a democratic stronghold of the mid twentieth century turned republican primarily by people migrating from other areas and joining conservative Christian block voters. East Tennessee has been reliably republican since the civil war, when yoman farmers opposed succession.
Today we have typical Tennessee behavior. Diane Black, the republican candidate for governor, is running as a trump supporter to separate herself from other republican candidates. On the other side is a host of republicans trying to argue that they are business people and not politicians. This will be interesting. Tennessee gave trump a sizable majority, but Hillary supporters stayed at home, sure that they had no chance. Will moderates come out in the republican primary?

How SNAP and Medicaid Work Requirements Will Hurt Workers
…Though overall median income in the United States has risen slightly since 2002, for workers with limited formal schooling, income has either stayed flat or declined. The report shows that the average inflation-adjusted wage for a worker with a high school degree or less was $31,000 in 2017. Adjusted for inflation, that wage was higher 15 years earlier: $31,700 in 2002. Women, of course, earn even less. The average inflation-adjusted wage for a woman with a high school degree or less was $27,300 in 2017, barely up from $26,400 in 2002.
The report also finds that nearly a fifth of Medicaid recipients and more than a quarter of SNAP recipients who worked at least 30 hours per week for at least 20 weeks in 2017 still lived below the federal poverty line—$20,420 for a family of three.
According to the CBPP report, some of the occupations most common among people who use SNAP or Medicaid are nursing aides and orderlies, cashiers, drivers, retail and sales workers, janitors, laborers (besides construction), food service workers, and housekeepers. About a third of beneficiaries fall into one of these occupations. Median annual earnings for the most common occupations was $22,000 per year. Note that these are also occupations where wages have stagnated and where unemployment rates tend to be higher.
Whitmore Schanzenbach says that knowing the most common occupations among benefit recipients not only “humanizes them—[but] it lets you really sink your teeth into how many people have these jobs.”
CBPP estimates that two million people could have their benefits eliminated or reduced if the House work requirement plan becomes law. And while Medicaid work requirements are being slowly implemented in a handful of states across the country, such requirements are already roaring ahead in Arkansas, where more than 7,000 recipients failed to meet the reporting requirements in June…

Trump blasts media amid chants of ‘CNN sucks’
BY JACQUELINE THOMSEN – 08/02/18 07:35 PM EDT
After a day of tension between the White House and CNN, the crowd at President Trump’s Pennsylvania rally on Thursday night broke out into chants of “CNN sucks” when the president blasted “fake news.”
Trump at the rally in Wilkes-Barre cited multiple examples of what he called “fake news,” including saying the “fake news refused to call” Pennsylvania for him during the 2016 presidential election.
The crowd responded with boos and jeers, with some chanting, “CNN sucks.”
Trump later returned to the issue of the media during the rally, asking, “Whatever happened to fair press? Whatever happened to honest reporting?”
He also referred to the media as “horrible, horrendous people” and “disgusting.”…

I hope to read the Washington Post in full, but some of this angry craziness is being cultivated, deliberately. It is not entirely indigenous.
I tripped on this chilling declassified document, dated January 2017, a joint publication of The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and The National Security Agency (NSA), titled Assessment: Russia’s Influence Campaign Targeting the 2016 US Presidential Election.
It is based on information available as of 29 December 2016 . The document is only 13 pages, but filled with chilling detail on the campaign to undermine the elections, elevate Trump, pump up hatred, and undermine the electoral process. This document and all the classified information that went into it point to facts that Trump has been working to suppress because there is one thing he hates to face—that his election was rigged and not a legitimate victory.
His fear was on full display when he tried to say that more people were at his inauguration than any other when there was pictorial and video evidence proof positive that was a lie. He is still hammering on the glorious victory and great, history-making projects he is undertaking.
He has a bromance with Putin and that is at least partially explained by this report. Here is the opening, begin quote:
PUTIN ORDERED CAMPAIGN TO INFLUENCE US ELECTION
We assess with high confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election, the consistent goals of which were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. When it appeared to Moscow that Secretary Clinton was likely to win the election, the Russian influence campaign then focused on undermining her expected presidency. End Quote.

The globalist, New World Order conspiracy theory is just a mishmash of conspiracy theories with some odd religious extremism and alien artifact junk mixed in. But the fact is the U.S. does not always act with altruism, and the fact is rich and powerful people conspire to get more rich and powerful. Always have. Always will.

Very true. Also very true that our intelligence agencies have not always acted in the highest trustworthiness. We could start with WMD in Iraq and spend the next many hours cataloging their various lies. So not to say that this particular set of theories bears any validity, but there is more than enough reason to distrust these agencies in general. Skepticism is always warranted, especially when these agencies seem to be pushing us toward escalating hostilities with the second largest nuclear power on the planet.

No one said anything about “escalating hostilities”.
What most of us sentient beings and the FBI and CIA want to do is to protect the electoral process! First by bringing to light the source of the propaganda that too many voters accepted as fact – especially because the purveyors of propaganda were given private information about those voters likes and dislikes via Facebook so they would know exactly the propaganda to use to best reach them. And second by insuring that the voting machines themselves are protected.
It is Trump and the Republicans who refuse to protect our election process. You can bet that if it was a foreign country who had helped the Democrats with the possibility that they might hack voting machines to help Democrats that the Republicans would not be refusing to do anything.
And you can bet that the Democrats would not be insisting that there is no need to protect the integrity of the election. Unlike the Republicans, the Democrats believe in democracy. Sometimes that means they get rolled over by Republicans who don’t.

……………………………………….
Did President Donald Trump Donate His Entire $400,000 Salary to Rebuild Military Cemeteries?
Prominent conservative commentators boosted a false, mathematically impossible rumor about the president’s salary donations, taking aim at the news media along the way.
CLAIM
In the summer of 2018, President Donald Trump donated his entire $400,000 annual salary to the Department of the Interior for the purpose of rebuilding military cemeteries.
RATING
FALSE
…Instead of taking his salary, Trump donated all $400,000 to the Department of the Interior where it will be used for construction and repair needs at military cemeteries! AMAZING! It’s so great to have a President who loves our brave military men and women so much! Oh, and where’s the media coverage of this? Oh that’s right, they don’t cover anything good that the President does.
So the claim that Trump donated his entire $400,000 annual salary for rebuilding military cemeteries actually comes from online rumors posted in 2017. This means the vast majority of claims made in July and August 2018 are false on this basis alone, since they stated that Trump’s donation had happened “today.”
However, the claim was as false in 2017 as it was in 2018. As we outlined at the beginning of this article, President Trump distributed his 2017 salary in four separate chunks, to four separate projects, none of which involved military cemeteries. The White House had already announced two of those donations by 26 July 2017, so the viral rumor was demonstrably false even as it first emerged online, twelve months before Mark Simone and Charlie Kirk’s viral tweets…

We have waited our entire life for what is unfolding before us.
(4Chan) Q Clearance Patriot 36hr Warning (11/01/17 [Wed] 18:40:13)
(1st Post) “My fellow Americans, over the course of the next several days you will undoubtedly realize that we are taking back our great country (the land of the free) from the evil tyrants that wish to do us harm and destroy the last remaining refuge of shining light. On POTUS’ order, we have initiated certain fail-safes that shall safeguard the public from the primary fallout which is slated to occur 11.3 upon the arrest announcement of Mr. Podesta (actionable 11.4).
Confirmation (to the public) of what is occurring will then be revealed and will not be openly accepted. Public riots are being organized in serious numbers in an effort to prevent the arrest and capture of more senior public officials. On POTUS’ order, a state of temporary military control will be actioned and special ops carried out. False leaks have been made to retain several within the confines of the United States to prevent extradition and special operator necessity.
Rest assured, the safety and well-being of every man, woman, and child of this country is being exhausted in full. However, the atmosphere within the country will unfortunately be divided as so many have fallen for the corrupt and evil narrative that has long been broadcast. We will be initiating the Emergency Broadcast System (EMS) during this time in an effort to provide a direct message (avoiding the fake news) to all citizens.
Organizations and/or people that wish to do us harm during this time will be met with swift fury – certain laws have been pre-lifted to provide our great military the necessary authority to handle and conduct these operations (at home and abroad).
(2nd Post) POTUS will be well insulated/protected on AF1 and abroad (specific locations classified) while these operations are conducted due to the nature of the entrenchment. It is time to take back our country and make American great again. Let us salute and pray for the brave men and women in uniform who will undertake this assignment to bring forth peace, unity, and return power to the people.
It is our hope that this message reaches enough people to make a meaningful impact. We cannot yet telegraph this message through normal methods for reasons I’m sure everyone here can understand. Follow the questions from the previous thread(s) and remain calm, the primary targets are within DC and remain at the top (on both sides). The spill over in the streets will be quickly shut down. Look for more false flags – stay alert, be vigilant, and above all, please pray.

Believers used to think someone close to Trump was leaving them clues to the president’s plan to defeat the deep state. Now they’ve got an even crazier idea.
…QAnon supporters have found a new tragedy to exploit: the death of John F. Kennedy Jr., son of the late president.
Until July, QAnon supporters believed that “Q,” the anonymous online forum poster whose cryptic clues make up the conspiracy theory, was a high-ranking Trump administration official, or maybe even Trump himself. But now, a good portion of QAnon believers have become convinced that Q is none other than JFK Jr, even though he died in a plane crash nearly 20 years ago….

They’ve always been here. With or without “Q”, there have always been people who create and try to spread their political and religious theories. It’s just that now they’ve got a very powerful unifying force in the White House.
I don’t find this amusing at all. These people have their blinders on and are fighting for what they see as a holy and revolutionary cause. And Trump will use them.

QAnon is terrifying. This is why.
Molly Roberts, The Washington Post Published 3:49 pm CDT, Thursday, August 2, 2018
“The Storm is coming,” say the conspiracy theorizers whose grotesque imaginings terrified the country to attention this week. Maybe they’re right.
QAnon adherents encourage those seeking the truth to “follow the White Rabbit,” but it’s hard to hop down this hole without getting totally lost in their horrorland. The simplest description of the plot line goes something like this: President Donald Trump isn’t under investigation; he is only pretending to be, as part of a countercoup to restore power to the people after more than a century of governmental control by a globalist cabal. Also, there are pedophiles…
Last week, a “baker” appeared outside Michael Avenatti’s office because Q sent him there. Others have started searching for child sex camps in the desert outside Tucson. A man in an armored truck blocked a bridge near the Hoover Dam demanding the release of a report that Q claimed the government was withholding. He had two guns.
What’s scariest of all, though, might be what motivates Trump’s base to believe in so byzantine a conspiracy. QAnon isn’t your average story of all-powerful actors exercising complete control over a helpless populace. This time, the heroes are already in charge and, still, the theorists see themselves as victims. Why, even with their man in the Oval Office, do they feel embattled?
One explanation has to do with the on-the-ground reality of this presidency. Perhaps the men and women who buy into this gibberish aren’t so confident that they’re in charge at all. The special counsel looks ever closer to proving ties between Trump and Russia and, in the meantime, Trump appears more erratic. If he really is under investigation and not just pretending to be, all his supporters’ hopes evaporate…..
The “forgotten men and women of our country” didn’t stop feeling forgotten when their self-proclaimed avatar walked into the White House. …

Every posting about QAnon seems to have a different twist. The one thing they all believe is that Trump is going to save them all. He is the true one. It’s amazing what supposedly intelligent people will believe.

QAnon: Meet a real-life believer in the online, pro-Trump conspiracy theory that’s bursting into view
Isaac Stanley-Becker, The Washington Post Published 8:06 am EDT, Friday, August 3, 2018
…He thinks Trump “is doing an amazing job,” and he believes the president is one of 10 people who comprise Q. In his mind, two others are also civilian – most likely Stephen Miller and Kellyanne Conway, top White House aides – and seven are military.
He said discounting QAnon comes from the same blindness that caused mainstream pundits to discount Trump. The problem, he said, is one of bubbles, and the fact that people in D.C. assume that everyone thinks like they do.
“D.C. is seen as pigs at the trough, and Trump was seen as somebody who would go in and overturn the apple cart,” Burton said. “People don’t care that he talks about grabbing the ‘you know what,’ just like they didn’t care about [Bill] Clinton.”
But for Burton, QAnon isn’t really about Trump. It’s bigger than the 45th president. Bigger even than American politics.
It’s about the screen that he believes conceals the truth about nearly everything we encounter. “I don’t read all the fluff,” he told me. “I go directly to the information and find out what they’re talking about. What are these posts, what are these tweets?”
“If you just clear your mind, tabula rasa, you’ll believe it too,” he said.

Zimbabwe just finished an election. Does it sound familiar? It is Agent Orange’s version of how to Make America Great Again.
………
…The election had all the props of democracy: a long list of hopeful candidates, clearly demarcated constituencies, campaign rallies and rolling results announcements. This, however, isn’t real democracy. Real democracy leaves its citizens feeling empowered, and even in loss, they should feel safe and hopeful for the future. Even if the opposition’s bid to overturn the results proves without merit, the violence in the streets, the army opening fire at will, and the intimidation of journalists is a worrying sign of what could be on the horizon. Zimbabweans held muted celebrations and some protested, but for the most part, they did as they have for years—they carried on.
Zimbabwe staged the kind of election that makes voters lose faith in democracy and popular participation. It’s an increasingly familiar pattern across the continent, in which ruling elites use elections only to rubber stamp their power.

I think its time for some really GOOD news!!! Imagine life in the US without all politicians being bought off. We might get some decent gun control laws passed.

RollingStone : The NRA Says It’s in Deep Financial Trouble, May Be ‘Unable to Exist’
…In its complaint, the NRA paints these actions as a “malicious conspiracy to stifle the NRA’s speech and induce a boycott of the NRA.” Cuomo and state regulators, the NRA alleges, were intent on “suppressing the NRA’s pro-Second Amendment viewpoint” and had engaged in “unlawful conduct with the intent to obstruct, chill, deter, and retaliate against the NRA’s core political speech.”
In the filing, the NRA reveals that its longtime insurer broke off negotiations this winter and “stated that it was unwilling to renew coverage at any price.” [Emphasis in original.] The NRA claims it “has encountered serious difficulties obtaining corporate insurance coverage to replace coverage withdrawn.” In addition, the NRA contends that “multiple banks” have now balked at doing business with it “based on concerns that any involvement with the NRA — even providing the organization with basic depository services — would expose them to regulatory reprisals.”…
