I remember taking the trolley with my brother in Philly to see the funeral train pass by North Philadelphia Station on its way to 30th St. Station. Lots of black and white folks were on the platform to pay their respects. You could hear a pin drop, except for the train and traffic noise.

I remember this day quite well. The railroad tracks were across the street from my back yard up on a hill. All of the neighbors were sitting outside in their yards waiting for the train. I was 4 yrs old. When the train came down the tracks my mother made me stop playing and stand still. The neighborhood became very quiet and as I looked around, I noticed that everyone was standing.
