Jennifer Mangrum is one courageous woman. She is challenging Phil Berger, the far-right leader of the North Carolina State Senate. Berger has harassed teachers and passed laws to authorize charters, for-profit charters, online charters and vouchers. It is not an overstatement to say that Senator Phil Berger hates public schools and their teachers.
The Network for Public Education Action Fund has endorsed Mangrum. Mangrum has 12 years of experience as a classroom teacher. She is currently a professor of education at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.
If every public school parent and every graduate of a public school voted for Mangrum, she would oust the worst legislator in the state.
VOTE!!!
VOTE FOR JENNIFER MANGRUM!

this is how we take the schools away from the Koch bros.. at the local level!

Thank you Diane, Carol and NPE! Even as a long time educator I am learning more every day about the larger plot to privatize education, segregate schools, widen the gap and put money in the hands of corporations instead of investing in public education. My opponent believes that not everyone “deserves” a high quality education.
Thank you for all you do on behalf of children, parents, teachers and our entire country.

Misleading propaganda! There is no secretive plot to privatize education. And N.C. has no for-profit charter schools. All N.C. charter schools are governed by nonprofit boards of directors. The traditional school system has been failing many students for too long. This country was built on choice. Education should be no different!

I see you are on the board of the NC charter Association.
Are you aware that every dollar that goes to a charter school is a dollar less for a public school?
If NC has no for-profit charters, how does your colleague Baker Mitchell make millions in profits from his charter chain?
Why are charters allowed to hire uncertified teachers?
Why is NC opening an Opportunity School District modeled on the Tennessee Achievement School District, which was an abject failure?

I read your “Executive Director’s Message.” It is a masterful compilation of meaningless platitudes that fits nicely with the ones you offer above. Here’s hoping you try to get away with them one day in a committee hearing before Sen. Mangrum. That will be fun to watch.
