Parents, what would you do if your child lectured and ridiculed a U.S. Senator on national television?

Replying to @toddstarnes

IF MY CHILD LECTURED A SUPPORTER OF THE NRA, A RACIST, AND A DEGRADER OF OUR DEMOCRACY, I WOULD BE A VERY PROUD PARENT.

That child would be taken out to a celebratory dinner at the restaurant of his/her choice, and would be given heaps of praise.
And Mr. Zorba and I would be nodding approvingly at each other and saying “Well, we did our job.”

These teenagers are amazing, eloquent and very determined. The slime on the right are smearing and swift boating these brave kids, calling them actors, plants, stooges or tools of the liberals and funded by George Soros. I hope George Soros will fund them, they are worth it. The intent of the right wing is to bully, intimidate and silence these young people. So far, their lies and libels have not worked, the teens are forging ahead and pushing for banning the semi automatics and for tougher gun laws. As if these kids don’t have enough to deal with, they now have to put up with these horrible right wing ghouls, like Alex Jones, who live in a world of lies and fantasies.

I would be extremely proud! After all, they work for us and they should be held accountable. People forget, we are their employers.

Unfortunately, these students lost any sense of being a child last week.

We guard with guns our banks, jewelry stores, airports, airplanes and police—things that have value. Why do we not value our children as much? If any educator feels comfortable with a weapon, then he should be allowed to carry. A shot gun will take out a door…a little late to save multiple lives. DJT will come up with solutions and they will be enacted, not just talked about, as have occurred since Sandyhook. I sincerely believe that these kids are being manipulated. Children with differing opinions are not being allowed to speak. The media are using scripted questions and some children are refusing to appear on TV or are not being allowed to speak out.

On the issue of NRA funding government officials: they do not have a large budget. Political funds ($54.4 million in ’16)will go to candidates that share the same views as they. Planned Parenthood ($33.2 million in ’16) and climate change folks do the same ($22.9 million in ’16) as per politifact. The labor relations board reports that unions spent $1.713 BILLION on political campaigns. We are all aware that they do not always represent what their membership desires.

Our legislators are sworn to uphold the constitution and they cannot just ignore the second amendment. Mobs of screaming, accusing people, some of whom are grieving like none other, are not helping to solve our problems, though they are calling attention to them. There needs to be a conversation among rational people who will get the work done. Right now, the anti gun people are using the situation to further their political agenda. I don’t have the answer—but I know blaming the NRA will not help. They are not the bad guy here. If you want to change society, plan another course of action, because this approach will only antagonize the majority of citizens that do not share your views.

Manipulated by who, exactly? This assumption is not only an insult and a lie about these teens, it’s an insult and lie about all teens. These kids are masters of social media and the Internet. They are far more aware of national and world situations than any generation before them, and they are way out in front of everyone else on this, their motivation is quite simply the horrific death of their friends and the burning desire to stop it from ever happening again. Before that, try telling any teen what to do, especially when it comes to something profoundly serious like this where they are the aggrieved party. Again, what proof of actual manipulation do you have other than the lies and slander of various trolls and ideologs? As to the NRA not being the bad guy??? They are a terrorist organization and the poster child for tyrannical government, a government that is not responsive to its people but that bows down before the influence of money and the threat of being opposed by an NRA primary opponent if they dare oppose the toxic agenda of the NRA.
