Emily Witt writes here about her visit to funerals and memorial services and grieving in Parkland, Florida.
Amidst the grief, she found one sterling beam of hope: Emma Gonzalez called “BS” on the ineffectual politicians who could find no reason to do anything at all.

Amen.

Great to see this circulated. Emma Gonzalez: No better spokesperson, ever.

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School kids are absolutely amazing. They are so eloquent, bright and up to speed on all the pro gun/NRA BS propaganda bromides and memes. They may spark a movement to finally do something about our lax gun laws and the proliferation of these semi-automatic rifles.

I hope they get the ball rolling to change gun laws. The Sandy Hook parents campaigned for change in the laws. They also were articulate and passionate, but they were ultimately dismissed. The tone in the country is different now. So many people are tired of being ignored. These young people have captured our collective frustration with the status quo.

Turns out that Marjory Stoneman Douglas was kinda amazing herself. Like the host of this blog, a Wellesley grad to boot:
