Julian Vasquez Heilig has been acknowledged as one of the nation’s most influential scholars.
He is a professor at Sacramento State, chair of the Education Committee of the California chapter of the NAACP, and a board member of the board member of the Network for Public Education.
He is a prominent scholar in studies of equity, TFA, and charter schools. His blog, Cloaking Inequity, is exemplary in its mid of erudition, policy analysis, graphics, and humor.
Congratulations, JVH!

In addition to his blog, Cloaking Inequity, Heilig is a contributor to The Progressive. In addition to Heilig, several other notable bloggers contribute articles as well. Their political education predictions about 2018 are interesting. They mostly see a backlash to privatization and so-called reform. They see more Democrats supporting public schools and community based education. However, they fail to mention what we are seeing as the newest threat to urban public education, various digital platforms. Tech companies are working to get superintendents and other elite entrepreneurs to buy into a tech. model for school districts. This is just another example of the separate and unequal treatment that minorities have faced for decades.http://progressive.org/public-school-shakedown/2018-public-education-outlook/
