The Texas Education Agency accused the former board president of the San Antonio School for Inquiry and Creativity of stealing tens of thousands of dollars of electronic equipment from the school.
“Two members of SASIC’s state-installed board of managers, Judy Castleberry and Velia Minjarez, said Thursday that they believe that Denise Fritter took computers, televisions, video game consoles and other items from two school buildings Saturday, two days after the state took physical control of the district’s assets. The items were valued at $30,000 to $100,000.”
Don’t expect the TEA to acknowledge that the problem is lack of oversight or accountability for these unregulated charters.
Let the waste of taxpayer dollars proceed!

Denise Fritter was the School Board President of these charter schools: Monticello Academy, SASIC Prep Academy Middle School, Monticello High School and SASIC Career Path High School, perhaps one other, all in the San Antonio area.
I found this bio for Denise Fritter on a website called National Association of Professional Women. The website features self-employed or free-lance job seekers.

I looked up Dynamic Schools Research Institute, for which Denise Fritter claims to be Executive Director and Chairman of the Board. This website is “under construction” but it pushed me to GiveGrab, an online platform for non-profits that want to pay a fee and outsource fund-raising. http://info.givegab.com/pricing
I pushed my search and discovered that Denise Fritter introduces herself at a different fund-raising website https://www.thebiggivesa.org/p2p/dynamic-schools-research-institute/denise-fritter This website clarifies her role in using this non-profit to raise money for un-named charter schools.

A deeper look and you see that the fundraising champions for DSRI have raised $480, that Denise Fritter is at the top of the list with $150 and that the goal is $500 to “fund two new (unspecified) community programs.”
Additional donations are solicited: $25 for a one-month scholarship to summer camp, $50 to help print marketing material for new programs in the community, and $150 for guest speakers for “community programs.”
If Denise Fritter is charged with taking charter school property, it will be interesting to see if she still keeps her profile at the National Association of Professional Women website.
