A reader sent a letter signed by Governor Rick Snyder and the State Superintendent Brian Whiston lamenting the poor performance of Michigan’s schools on the National Assessment of Educational Progress.
Please note that the Governor makes no reference to the failure of the state’s obsession with school choice over the past 15 years.
Nor does he say anything about the proliferation of charters, most of which operate for-profit, and most of which perform worse than the public schools.
Nor does he acknowledge that the state’s education agenda is a wholly owned enterprise of the DeVos family.
Nor does he mention the disaster of the Educational Achievement Authority, into which the state of Michigan poured millions of dollars and overpaid administrators sent by the Broad Academy, only to see the EAA collapse in failure.
This is a politician who does not know the meaning of the word accountability. He is accountable for nothing and responsible for nothing. He should be held accountable not only for the Flint Water Crisis but for the dismantling of what was once a great public school system in the state of Michigan.
For shame, Governor Snyder.
Sad. Very sad.
Just another POS politician that does nothing and fills his/her pockets with taxpayer money.
Senator Russell Long, who was chair of the Finance Committee, had a great saying about the reality of taxation: “Don’t tax you, don’t tax me, tax the man behind the tree.”
So, with apologies to Sen. Long: “Personal responsibility for you, personal responsibility for me, but not for man hiding behind the tea.”
This is what happens when an elected official does not answer to the people but only to ALEC.
ALEC is a four letters word. I can think of other four letter words that would also fit on that list.
For instance, NAZI.
The word Nazi is history and we should learn from that history.
ALEC is the new NAZI.
Good response, Lloyd. AGREE!
Snyder is a “awe shucks” type of politician. He makes a great down-home speech but is a snake in the grass in terms of governing.
He supported a bill (thank God it failed) to essentially sell our state owned forests and land to private entities. He has been responsible for the sale of MANY state owned properties to his allies for pennies on the dollar. Exp: Silver Dome was assessed for 2.5-3 million dollars, it was sold to a Canadian buddy of his for 500 thousand.
Snyder should be in prison, but you might be surprised at the number of people (working people that is) who still support him.
You can’t fix stupid people.
Snyder should be in jail for his poisoning of the people of Flint. Obama decided it was better to go to Flint and drink a glass of water. The picture of Snyder walking in cuffs, would have swung the election in Michigan , Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Ah never mind.
Can’t fix stupid and GREEDY people. Money and power is their god all rolled into one. SICK!
This is what happens when those creeps cite “THE MARKET” as what is driving their actions. Ka-Ching.
Snydely Ricklash takes no responsibility for the lead-laced water in Flint, either.
That’s right, Jon. Snyder is colludes for $$$$$$. The MAFIA has overtaken our schools. I do look at many of our politicians as the MAFIA and the MOB. They sure act like they belong to the Mafia and the MOB.

Has any politician anywhere ever taken any responsibility for the damage done by Ed Reform policies? I’ll add that to my wish list which currently consists of looking for politicians who have lost their office because of their Ed Reform policies.
