Glad to read that Phyllis was able to get to a ball game, even if it was a Cubbies’ game. Actually, I’ve had the pleasure of going to Wrigley twice back in the 80’s when the Cubbies were, well, the Cubbies we’ve all known for over a century. The baseball god’s proved that they aren’t totally heartless by having everything align for the Small Bears last year but we know that each year is different. This year the gods are back to their usual antics with the Cubbies so far-injuries, starting pitching gone south (actually a year older) and the WS hangover. But the season is long, and Milwaukee is could be easily overtaken yet by the Cardinals.
Wrigley Field is a great cathedral of baseball. Yeah, the Cubs had a long fight, and seemingly for a century nothing went right — we all know the feeling — but they kept on and they won. Red Sox overcame the Curse of the Bambino too. They kept playing every day. I dunno if baseball evolved or if it was created, but it was good. And in the seventh inning they stretched.
Go Phyllis!
