A reader sent me the link to this poster, which appears in the current issue of MAD Magazine. I don’t customarily engage in ridicule, but what DeVos is doing to the public schools of America, what she is doing to civil rights enforcement, and what she is doing to college students struggling to pay for their education is beyond ridiculous.
Seems rather MILD as far as MAD Mag goes …
Perfect without being too harsh for this POS from the walton family making more money from their position in the government.
$1,000,000 a month for this turd’s security detail. Shameful. Can we hope the Department of Ed is discontinued soon?
How do you know this? Thx
Got this when I Googled your question. This same amount was reported in newspapers.

Security for Betsy DeVos Costs $1 Million a Month
April 8, 2017 at 11:30 am EDTBy Taegan Goddard
“The U.S Marshals Service is providing unprecedented protective detail to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and the added security will be costing her agency almost $1 million per month,” NBC News reports.
“The stepped up security began in February, following a threat assessment ordered by the U.S. Attorney General, the marshals service said. The agency only said it determined a threat to her safety exists, and did not elaborate.”

Liu Xiaobo, Chinese Nobel Laureate, is a beautiful person. How much better the whole world would be if we all had leaders who respected everyone and had his foresight. I especially like his quote about how hatred can destroy a society and our humanity.

He embodies democratic values better than the leaders of our democratic countries.
Alfred E Neuman always reminded me of Alan Sosin. My favorite was Spy vs Spy and the movie parodies

Mad Magazine has had some spot-on commentary over the years. During the Vietnam War, it had a b&w photo of LBJ showing his appendectomy scar, but in place of his exposed torso was a color map of Vietnam (yes, I know that a cartoonist had the same idea, but Mad did it better and may have done it first.)
In a spread on the Ten Commandments; the commandment not to take God’s name in vain was illustrated with a sign reading IIRC “For God and Segregation.”
And in an alphabet on election campaigns, here is S:
S is for Schools;
We need more, it’s true,
But if kids learn too much,
They’ll wise up to you!
I received a flyer in the mail from my Indiana state Senator Niemeyer. He is boasting that Indiana, “allocates $60 million for teacher bonuses”.
I KNOW that that money could be better used. Politicians don’t understand that teachers need to work together, not complete for a bonus.
The K-12 funding was increased by $345 million. I’d like to know the full story behind that number. Niemeyer tends to give partial facts that look good but deceive.
