   This is the most fantastic thing that can happen to education in New Mexico. Skandera should have never ever be appointed as Secretary of Education. We in New Mexico will throw a great big party AFTER she is gone. The only trouble is is that Governor Martinez, a person with no understanding of public education may appoint someone just as bad Skandera. Can’t be anyone worse than Skandera.

   After Trump’s election, Conservative Leaders for Education posted recommendations for Education Secretary, among them, Skandera. Ohio Senate Education Committee Chair, Peggy Lehner (reportedly, her sister is the President of Gates-funded NCTQ) founded CL4E.
   Given the multibillion dollar charter school boondoggle in Ohio, recommendations from CL4E are laughable.
   In the past couple of years, Kasich’s Trustees of Wright State University oversaw the destruction of WSU’s reputation. Lehner, an “accountability” advocate, appears to find the Trustees to be acceptable despite their failure to learn about a growing $25 mil. deficit (largest in Ohio higher ed history). The Trustees who remain in their positions propose a budget that increases sports spending with draconian cuts in education. Lehner- worthless like her organization’s recommendations.

   I believe that DeVos and Republican said no to Skandera because Skandera is to close and involved with Common Core. Of course we in New Mexico were hoping that DeVos would take Skandera and get her out of our state.

   Given the problems the Trump administration is facing, I am surprised Skandera would want to be considered for a position at DOE. I guess she must figure that Pence would keep Devos.

     Of course Pence would keep DeVos. They’re both high (in the wrong sense) and mightly xtian warriors doing their god’s work. I hope that we don’t have to find out. I’ll take the SSM* over a GWP** anytime.

       Pence is very close to DeVos. He likely recommended her to Trump.
