Trump’s dismissal of Director Comey puts a dark cloud over the FBI. If the new director finds nothing, there will always be suspicion of some type of compromise that took place.
We definitely need an independent prosecutor to look into all the shady dealings that might have taken place. The public trust needs to be regained.
I just read that Trump’s polls show a new low…36% approval rating. Even some of his base is beginning to wonder.
Yes Duane, exactly like that! That to me IS the most iconic Ed Sullivan show and for me a mind blowing experience like no other!!!
Thanks for the memory.
Those quotes sounded like something Trump would say, but I suspect if Congress moves to impeach Agent Orange, the malignant narcissist will have a stroke. Maybe blow several arteries inside his brain. Except he doesn’t have a brain. There’s a little blue-green man from another galaxy inside his head flipping switches.
There’s a petition going around called, “Impeach Trump now”. It asks people to sign and have it go to our House Representatives.
……
The backlash from Trump’s actions has continued to grow over the week and several Members of Congress are now openly discussing the possibility of impeachment proceedings. According to CNN, 11 Democratic Members of Congress — 10 Members of the House and 1 Senator — have discussed impeachment.
Texas Representative Al Green: “If the President is found to have done this to circumvent this investigation, to thwart to the efforts to get the bottom of this, I think this is going to be an impeachable offense.”
New York Representative Hakeem Jeffries: “Evidence of Trump’s effort to obstruct justice continues to emerge.”
At least the thought of impeachment is spreading.

It’s the Lies That Are Impeachable

Let me preface this by saying I am someone who was not worried about the Russian efforts to influence our election. I am not surprised that Russia tried to influence our election, and I believe we are actively trying to influence the politics of Russia. I also think James Comey should have been fired by President Obama last October for interfering in the election in a way that aided Donald Trump.
It is the constant lying of the president of the United States and his administration that leads me to believe that Donald Trump is not capable of performing the duties of the office he holds.
I call on Republicans in Congress to put the credibility of the country over the standing of their political party. For a president to fire an FBI director who was investigating his administration and then lie about his motives to the American people is inexcusable. To then threaten that official with possible recordings of their conversation cheapens the office of the President.
I am embarrassed to call Donald Trump the president of my country. There have been other presidents, including Democrats, with whom I have had significant differences with politically. Donald Trump and I do not agree on much, but I do believe in Democracy, and don’t think impeachment should come about for political differences.
I am angry at how Trump has handled healthcare and many other issues, but they are not impeachable offenses. Even the firing of James Comey in itself could have been justifiable if Trump hadn’t lied about his motives.
If this were the first time the president has lied to us, I might give him a pass. The problem is there is a pattern of lying by the president, and he forces his surrogates to lie on his behalf. We cannot continue to have a president whose every utterance is questionable.
It’s not about Russia, healthcare, North Korea; it is about Donald Trump. I no longer have confidence in his ability to perform the duties of the office of President of the United States, and I call for his impeachment.
The problem is, Lloyd, I’m not so sure that there are any Republicans willing to move toward impeachment.
Certainly not Paul “Ayn Rand” Ryan or Mitch “Turtlehead” McConnell.
There are no current Republicans anywhere near some of the Republicans back during the Nixon impeachment process. No Howard Baker, asking “What did the President know, and when did he know it?”
Donald Trump’s Financial Ties to Russian Oligarchs and Mobsters Detailed In Explosive New Documentary from the Netherlands @alternet
…The documentary shows how Trump not only helped hide the identity of his mobster business partner, prompting an ongoing lawsuit accusing Trump of criminal racketeering, but also how Trump used that internal company crisis to demand more money. It goes on to show how Russian oligarchs saw Trump’s properties as a way to get their money out of Russia, and describes the international financial networks that are akin to a pyramid scheme for money laundering. It also notes how the law firm of Trump’s political adviser, former New York City mayor Rudy Guiliani, helped set up a money-laundering account in the Netherlands used by Bayrock.
The exposed financial trail raises questions about whether Trump fired FBI director James Comey because the FBI investigation of his campaign’s collusion with Russia was encroaching into Trump’s world of dark money and dubious business partners….
Thanks for the link, Carol. I’ve never doubted the Salmon* Swamp Monster’s economic ties with less than savory characters not only in this country but in many others. It is his nature as the only one that counts in his mind is himself.
Trump’s execution would be his very own “Sunset Boulevard”. As he was led in chains toward the execution chamber, he’d believe it was all a reality show and he was the star.
…This goes way beyond Comey. When judges block presidential orders, Trump denounces the courts. When the opposition criticizes him, Trump savages individual Democrats. When journalists embarrass him, Trump threatens to tighten libel laws and describes the press as “the enemy of the people.”
Trump has also challenged and evaded the ethics rules that traditionally constrain administration officials. He has breached the four-decade norm that presidential candidates release their taxes. And — how else to put this? — he has waged war on truth. These days, any relationship between White House statements and accuracy seems coincidental…
In short, Trump challenges the legitimacy of checks on his governance, bullies critics and obfuscates everything. Trump reminds me less of past American presidents than of the “big men” rulers I covered in Asia and Africa, who saw laws simply as instruments with which to punish rivals.
This is a possibility.

In the clip below, David Pakman shows how typical Trump bluster could actually be indicative of something more problematic. He compares old footage of Trump to the Trump of today, and looks at how Trump’s physical problems may also be linked to Alzheimer’s:

“puts a dark cloud over the FBI”
There has been a black cloud over the FBI since it’s inception. For all you who now thinks that the FBI isn’t still under it read:

think not thinks, ay ay ay
In the words of the late Ed Sullivan, “It’s going to be a really, really big shoe!” I for one can’t wait.
You mean like this?
My older sister feigned illness so as not to attend Sunday evening service…she knew the Beatles would be on that night…

Can you imagine the show his legal execution would be. That would be reality TV at its best. The rating in history
You’re getting into Lloyd’s and my territory with that comment, Joel! Must be an XY thing, eh!
