It is always exciting to learn of a new baby. I was one of the millions who watched this morning and kept the vigil the last 2 months. You should of heard my as I became the labor coach, urging her to push. 🙂
The Animal Adventure Park used this event to help educate on the giraffe’s life and the danger of these animals going extinct.

Cheryl,
I too was yelling, “Push, April, push.”

It was great to watch and at the same time read all the comments in real time from fellow viewers. It’s been a wonderful story, a positive contrast to the dark, grueling “Winter of Trump” that we’ve had to endure. A “Mother of All Giraffes” instead of that “Mother of All Bombs.” The animal park isn’t too far from here and from I’ve read in the daily paper the family that runs it could use the boost for their zoo. Nice people.

I watched too and was thrilled. But reading the comments from fellow viewers was like a kick in the head. Not sure how it started because I tuned in late, but by the time I started watching, it was largely a dark counterpoint to the thrill of birth and renewal. Name-calling, political comments galore, and just plain nastiness. More than half of the comments had no relation to the birth. They seemed to be an excuse to vent and bash one another! One person even asked why people were wasting their time watching…couldn’t help but wonder what that person was doing there. It seems that the flood gates have opened and civil discourse is a thing of the past. I was happy to see that they shut the whole thing down shortly after that.

You must have been watching on a different site. I saw all sorts of comments but not a lot of the sorts you refer to. Some comments were genuinely funny….like, ‘I have six kids of my own and have things to do but I can’t stop watching this.’ (That’s a paraphrase.) I’m looking forward to vising the animal park. I’m sure they’ll have huge crowds.
