Too tragic to be genuinely humorous; that is, to be truly pleasurable. Satire is never genuine humor. We laugh because that’s the way to vent the anger.
Baldwin is O’Reilly in this video and as a joke promotes the book “Old School”. What a farce. People are actually buying this book from O’Reilly who gives, “advice on how men should treat women respectfully”.
Just how stupid are Americans to take advise from a sexual abuser on how to treat women?

After a rough start as White House press secretary, Sean Spicer finds his footing as a disdainful, overworked kindergarten teacher.
Critical thinking is hard to teach considering that many students parrot the opinions and thoughts of their parents. It’s hard to overcome that. It goes to show that most of what is learned is learned at home.
Agreed. I have several students who laughed when I answered to their questions about chocolate. After watching the SNL skit ‘Tenement Museum’, I made the connection. Where do 9 year olds learn this? Home
So I guess the radicalism and drug culture of the 60’s were actually the
opinions of the parents. Educators and critical thinking have a far greater role than we think.
Economics broadly may be the actual determinant. The War being an economic issue , who got to pay the ultimate cost for it. But it was only a singular issue. Those rebellious students of the 60s who grew into the suburban Republicans of the 90s entered the workforce at one of the most prosperous times in history. That the electorate is so restless on the left and especially on the right, is a reflection of the end of that prosperity for large segments of the population.
It takes a whole lot of effort to shape public opinion and an entire industry has been developed to do it. The 30 second spot is probably the least of it.
Trump is not all wrong about the media. If he were, there never would have been a war in Iraq , a housing bubble …..
Here is just a current example :
“Five major US newspapers—the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and New York Daily News—offered no opinion space to anyone opposed to Donald Trump’s Thursday night airstrikes. By contrast, the five papers ran a total of 18 op-eds, columns or “news analysis” articles (dressed-up opinion pieces) that either praised the strikes or criticized them for not being harsh enough” :
Adam Johnson FAIR
Certainly none were asking the reader to question the absurdity of why Assad / Russia at this time would choose to do this. Was he losing a battle ? Did he not expect a reaction.? Could that reaction have been going after the Palace instead of the outhouse at the Airport. If there were no reaction, what would the reaction be the next time if he tried to do it on a larger scale. Something is rotten in Denmark.
No where is the above media metric on display better than in our discussions about education.
The critical thinking skills that are taught are essential to seeing through this . Too many, the majority were never taught . In part because the system does not want critical thinkers.
