Thanks to Duane Swacker for this hilarious piece from the Onion!
Mike Pence asks the waiter to remove Mrs. Butterworth from the table until his wife arrives. Her comely shape embarrasses him.
Someone on Twitter said that Mike Pence seems to be obsessed with the sanctity of marriage, but obsessed with interfering in the sanctity of other people’s marriages.

He is mentally unstable!

Did the waiter shake Mrs. Butterworth, as if she was his wife and, then, decide to submit his resignation?

It was overheard by some that while being escorted out Mrs. Butterworth was mumbling something about having her gatita grabbed.

What on earth would Pence do if he was forced to participate in a museum tour with any one of these paintings: The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli; The Nude Maja by Francisco de Goya; Olympia by Édouard Manet; Rokeby Venus by Diego Velázquez. Perhaps he could tolerate the angularity in Pablo Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (The Young Ladies of Avignon). Of course, all of the above are nude figures of women, some reclining and in seductive poses.
In his home state, at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, there is the “Glow of Gold, Gleam of Pearl by American artist William McGregor Paxton (1869-1941). At the National Gallery of Art in DC, I would want him to see the super candid paintings of Alice Neel, perhaps in the company of Betsy DeVos. http://www.aliceneel.com/gallery/?mode=display&category=5&painting=80
For that matter, Pence probably winces and averts his eyes if he must visit the US. Department of Justice. He can hardly avoid seeing the sculpture, Spirit of Justice. It portrays a woman draped in a toga with her arms raised high and one breast in clear view. According to Wikipedia, in 1986, the statue was seen behind then-attorney general Edwin Meese III as he discussed a report on pornography. In 2002, under John Ashcroft, curtains were installed blocking the statue from view during speeches.

Why is this hilarious? and not respectful of all people and relationships involved?

N. Johnson,
This works in more than one way. Either you are trustworthy or not.
Suppose you see a man out to lunch or dinner with another man? Might there be infidelity involved? Maybe they are secretly gay?
Why not assume that people are having lunch or dinner without suspecting anything, even if they are not married?

You are right again – it is just that the logic given doesn’t hold water with the media…31 years of marriage maligned because individuals need to make mental jokes – cast aspersions on homophobic and conversion lies –
Johnson has it right – it is not funny and respectful – a lot of relationship work and a whole lot of love goes into any marriage.

I guess you live in a world where there is no April 1. No one gets to play the fool or be portrayed as a fool. No satire allowed, no exaggerations, no clowning around, no pranksters, no “gotcha’s,” no comic imagination. Sad. Really sad.

This is wisdom.
My wise friend, Donna Gundersen Hailson, summarizes the crux of the Pence faux controversy.
“Central here, I think, is the idea of avoiding even the appearance of impropriety. Central also is avoiding situations from which false claims could be concocted. There are always those who want to bring down men like Billy Graham and Mike Pence. A woman could claim assault if she and a man were alone in an elevator or a hallway or a room. If one person’s hand were to brush against another’s on a table, or if two people appeared to be having too good of a time while sitting over a meal in a public eatery, cameras would be at the ready to capture the moment and the captions could be fashioned to misconstrue.”

I guess as an extension of that wisdom it would be best for Pence to dine secretly with a woman other than his wife, eh! Maybe an offbeat hotel room or something similar. Maybe in Argentina!

Joculaity is the call of the day so Add this WH humor – Spicer spiced up his daily updates with the following joke :”If the President puts Russian salad dressing on his salad tonight, somehow that’s a Russia connection,”
What adds to the humor is the media fact checkers tossing out this piece of “gotcha” by CNN’s Michelle Krupp – Russian dressing isn’t Russian- not for salads, but more of a sandwich spread — usually a Reuben.
The mayo and ketchup concoction — often dressed up with horseradish and spices — was created in Nashua, New Hampshire.
I bet Putin somehow had something to do with this news!
Although mentioned before – Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a bill (SB 1383) back in Sept.that requires the state to cut farts – flatulence – methane emissions – from dairy cows and other animals by 40% by 2030.
What adds to the humor is that Oregon is now seeking legislation to help stop global warming – The cork industry is revving up production!

a great April Fools commentary by the joker – Putin.
A video voice-email message from the embassy – callers are told to press 1 for a call from a Russian diplomat to your political opponent, Press 2 to use the services of a Russian hacker, Press 3 to request election interference…
I am sure CNN tried the dials to fact check it …
