A click on the link sums it up nicely… her husband represented tobacco and health industries at the same time. Help the tobacco industry then help the health industry deal with all those getting sick from tobacco. Sounds just like Trump strategy… claim to represent a huge class of people so they vote for you then screw them over at first chance with a war-mongering budget.
I like this comment by “Omega Sup'” at the comment thread to the Slate article covering this today:
“Notice to all administrative bidders: time is running out to get your bids in. We’ve only reserved another 25 positions for family and friends, which leaves 97 positions open for purchase, but they are going fast!”
What does she know about president that he doesn’t want us to know? Anyone else, even going by his sick version of leadership, would have fired her for disrespecting African-American college leaders and just making stupid comments
Or is he just waiting for his next screw up and needs her to be the scapegoat?
How have we become numb to these outrageous actions? The blogs – the columns – the comments are all aghast at the most recent action – but by the time it’s published three more outrageous actions have occurred.
He’s living in this Mad Men 1950 universe when demeaning women, pollution, smoking, mining, deregulated energy and Wall Street, whites-only country clubs, segregation, were the norm. Rich white men lived in bubbles and couldn’t tell you the price of a loaf of bread or let their kids mingle anyone so low as to attend a public school.
International student college applications dropped significantly. U.S. employers are losing talented candidates to Canada and other nations. Education cuts and health care changes will affect those without a voice and now without representatives with a voice. He couldn’t care less if he’s even aware.
This appointment will go unnoticed. Won’t even make the top 10 of outrageous statements and decisions this week.
Are our nation’s leaders’ numb? Shouldn’t they all – both sides of the aisle – all levels be at the OUTRAGE level?
Well, it wouldn’t surprise me. {{Sigh}}
