Unfortunately, Moore is helping those who want to reject legitimate questions are say that questions come from Hillary supporters who cannot accept the outcome of the election.

I like Michael Moore, I like his films but I’m afraid that he’s fantasizing. Before any such drastic actions could be taken, there would have to be hard proof that could stand in a court of law not to mention Congressional hearings and the blowback from the GOP controlled Congress and all the people who voted for ClownfaceJerkMeister.

I agree. Moore looks out for all “the little people, but before anything so drastic could occur; we need concrete evidence. We first have to let Congress do its job and hold hearings on Russian interference in the election. We have to ensure any action has a basis in fact.

I am with totally with him. We have known for months this was not a clean election. The longer we wait, the more damage is done to our country. And unless Democrats are actually willing to stop and stand up to 45’s actions, including staffing, exec orders, etc., WE THE PEOPLE need to act. Our representatives are failing us they try to play by the old rules. These fascists aren’t. Neither should we. Enough is enough

I’m starting to think all teachers across America –from 5th grade up — need to suspend the normal curriculum for a day or more and teach about Hitler’s rise –the precise manner in which he killed Germany’s democracy. Stop everything and teach what’s critically important now. Include clear handouts that kids will bring home to their parents so that they get educated too.

Don’t you think that would be a little like propaganda as it seems you would only want to “teach” one side of it and not even mention all of the problems created by the costs dumped on top of Germany which made the German people much more nationalistic and more pro-Germany, which led to Hitlers initial rise.

I don’t supposed he has any facts to add to his claims. He should make up his mind does he want them to resign or have them killed? I have seen both… In what universe is this considered mentally stable?

Diane, I can’t figure out how to send you an email direct. Sorry for getting off topic. So, the Governor Herbert, of Utah (not my governor) is on his way to D.C. to talk to Betsy DeVos (not my Sec. of Ed.) to discuss the elimination of the Dept. of Ed. I’m hearing Utah’s legislators consider this the best way to infuse more money into the state’s education. Don’t get me started on that. Anyway, could you point to resources or write a blog on the dangers of eliminating the Dept. of Ed.? Students with disabilities losing ground comes to mind first. Standards, etc?

IDEA is important. I don’t think DeVos can do anything on this, but Congress can since they approve budget.
Standards? Teachers are drowning in these, and they are up to each state.
I don’t know if the National Assessment of Educational Progress is “hardwired” like IDEA. I think the Institute of Education Sciences and regional labs may be up for elimination because you know, alt-facts are just fine with the Trumpsters.

Thanks for your thoughts. Any way of knowing is this effort to eliminate the Dept. is more than a threat? So much to protest in this state. Just trying to choose our battles.

Welcome to Utah. The powers that be LOATHE teachers here. Then everyone scratches their heads about WHY the state is hemorrhaging teachers.

Wow, TOT–I’ve been traveling, & so, so many of the states are “hemorrhaging teachers.” Southwest Airlines’ magazine has a full-page color ad advertising for “heroes”–people who have degrees (in anything) who are willing to train for TEN WEEKS to become–you guessed it!–teachers in Nevada!!!
And ILL-Annoy isn’t doing so great, either, but, esp. in Chicago, lots of educators being laid off, w/school libraries closing & class sizes increasing. One teacher wrote a heartbreaking letter about having a student come to school whose brother had been shot & had died that morning. And there is ONE social worker for over 300 students.
(Actually, I know social workers in CPS who travel, & must cover a number of schools totaling 1K-3K students.)
Last but not at all least, the state G.A. has introduced a proposal which would essentially de-fund special education, because one of our DINO senators has stated that students are over-identified for special education! Of course, we who are actually IN the schools know that quite the opposite is true, and it has, unfortunately, been like this even since the passage of P.L. 94-142 (in the ’70s), since re-named IDEA (which Betsy wouldn’t know anything about, which is why we are advocating so hard for our kids in this state).

I agree with Joe & retired teacher up there. I love Michael Moore & appreciate what he’s done w/his films, but I think, now, it would be of great help if he could start that film about the killing of public education which, I think, we’ve been asking him to make for years.
People who have been leading groups where I live wisely have counseled that we move forward, away from the 2016 election cycle,* focus on the issues & strategize as to what must be done. Then do it!!!
*Many of us being angry, disappointed Bernie supporters.

Yes, and I want a unicorn. Sigh. As we Bernie supporters were told ad nauseum after the primaries, “Your candidate lost. Get over it.”

It is the “Art of the Deal ” there is no constitutional basis for what Moore is asking for. However I think it makes sense to start with mass demonstrations calling for exactly what Moore is calling for when the evidence comes out about collusion . Forcing Trump and Pence to step down. As that the election of both was tainted. Then we are stuck with Ryan whose election was legitimate . Moore is basically saying the opposition in the streets is leading the way .
What nation other than Russia did Trumps team speak with before the election.
My guess NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Moore is worthless. Al Franken is the one who can consider just how serious the situation is…dispassionately. February 12 at 8:26am ·
He was on cnn explaining the basics to America…Trump is not playing with a full deck. Not just by presidential standards…by human being standards. He said the DeVos hearings were an embarrassment. He is right about that, too….I ask..Does it take 2/3 of the senate to get rid of Trump? I can imagine a handful of democrats who might rather have an insane Trump than a semi-sane Pence. Things are going to happen….this will not be one of those everything falls into place situations. It will remain very serious.

Michael Moore is the unhinged one. He is a disgrace to the human race. Why should Trump and Pence resign even if it’s proven that Russia “rigged” the election? Donald Trump and Mike Pence got more votes in enough states to win an Electoral College majority. Case closed. As far as I can tell, the most Russia is guilty of is exposing Hillary and company’s embarrassing emails.
The problem I have with all of this is that Democrats are acting like sore losers. They tried to get electors to defect and then blame Trump and his crew for everything including a rainy day. It’s pure politics.
Yes, Betsy DeVos is an embarrassment to America. Of course I didn’t want her confirmed. But I had to live through Duncan and King (twice because I’m a NY teacher) and I didn’t hear much of a peep from the same Democratic Party senators that stepped up against DeVos.
Obama’s record on education was horrible. Andy Cuomo’s is horrible. Where was/is Chuck Schumer on any of this?

I see no evidence that democrats are willing to come to grips with the realities to which you refer. The party needs to rebuild. I am sick of hearing how they did not communicate with white men as cleverly as the republicans…(the so called common man). They did not do a lot to inspire women and minorities….they took them for granted because surely they did not want republicans to win. Yes…they won the numbers…..if you restrict it to those who bothered to vote. Education….teachers…..should not be taken for granted by democrats. They should be people who make it a different contest by increasing the number of voters who turn out.
That might be too complicated a concept for democrat politicians…who do not have much to worry about when it comes to the schools for their own children.

Good analysis, joe. I’ve been reading that Bill told the campaign that HRC should be going back to those very states she lost, & suggested some other things that might have resulted in victory, but the campaign just wouldn’t listen to him (after all, what experience did HE have in campaigning?!) But, sorry, moving backward again.
So, insofar as moving forward–we have but one week to wait & see who is elected DNC Chair.
Want to bet me $100 (I’ll send it to the NPE!) that it WON’T be Keith Ellison?
First, it was said (by Howard Dean, I believe) that the chairmanship had to be a full time position. Fine–Ellison said he’d resign from his congressional seat.
So, naturally, they just had to come up with a challenger and thus stuck Tom Perez in there.
Yes, ALL of this is just “too complicated” for them.
