Drip, drip, drip.
Another day, another leak, another national scandal associated with the grifters in the White House.
Read Charles Blow’S alarming column.
“Every day there is a fresh outrage emerging from the murky bog of the Donald Trump administration.
Every day there is a new round of questions and a new set of concerns that raise anxieties and lower trust.
Every day it becomes ever more clear that it is right and just to doubt the legitimacy of this regime and all that flows from it.
The latest round involves the former national security adviser Michael T. Flynn, who this week was forced to resign following disclosures about his communications with the Russian ambassador on the same day that then-President Obama announced sanctions against Russia for its interference in our election to help Trump and damage Hillary Clinton.
The official reason given for requesting Flynn’s resignation was, according to the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer: “The president was very concerned that General Flynn had misled the vice president and others.”
Spicer continued later, “The evolving and eroding level of trust as a result of this situation and a series of other questionable instances is what led the president to ask for General Flynn’s resignation.”
Spicer further stated, “The White House counsel reviewed and determined that there is not a legal issue, but rather a trust issue.”
If you are thinking, “Something about this just doesn’t smell right,” you’re right; it stinks. This doesn’t add up and it leads to a multiplying number of questions to which we don’t yet have answers.”
Every day another scandal. Every day, fresh evidence of incompetence or worse.
Four years of this?
Did I say I would stop posting about our national tragedy? Naaaahhhhh.
It is like ignoring a train wreck in your front yard.

Diane,
Please keep sending us all your comments, not just education. Without a democracy, we will not have education. Read Frank Bruni’s NYT column today; it is hard to imagine.
So, thank you.

All of this certainly seems to be leading up to multiple charges including treason.

Leaks happen for many reasons sometimes it is ‘Palace’ intrigue.
However what we also see is that frequently they are vital to our democracy because the information in them would be crushed by the
“EVIL DOERS” . The message is if you don’t want leaks don’t do what you would not admit to publicly. Don’t negotiate trade deals behind closed doors “that the public would not like “. Don’t indiscriminately spy on all Americans without a warrant. Don’t commit atrocities overseas and cover them up . And above all do not commit TREASON against the United States by colluding with a hostile foreign power, subverting an election
Where as his public appeals to Putin can be seen as a policy shift. A shift that even some on the left see some justification for. The contacts behind closed doors can only be seen as TREASON both before and after the election.

Hello Diane: We need to, somehow, develop a place for a “Leakers’ Hall of Fame.”

Obama had a “Leakers Hall of Fame.” It’s called prison.

Michael Fiorillo: PULLLEEEESSSEEE . . . why is this ALWAYS about, “Well, if Trump does it, so does Hillary and Obama.” It’s YOU who cannot “get over it.” What exactly does that argument get you, or to be more pointed, US? It says: Let’s go down that deadly rabbit hole together.
I happen to agree with you on the prison-and-Obama thing, notwithstanding the whole idea behind Peaceful Protest requiring us ALSO to submit to the general rule of law while we protest THIS particular law, its implementation, or other government activities that impinge on our freedoms.
But if Trump has his way of following the Pattern of Putin, going to prison will be the least of our concerns. Thank goodness for the American spirit, born and bred in the cradle, recalcitrantly adolescent, and still out there, embedded in the political DNA of those who people all of the layers of that awful government and society that “the base” uses daily but purports to hate. One expression of it: “Give me liberty or give me death.” I certainly hope it won’t come to that, but I do think that spirit is finally awakening.
But what a schoolyard argument that is: “But you let him do it!” Get over it yourself.

Guess I’m just not as paranoid about THEDonald as some that post here are. Is he an abomination, no doubt. I’m more worried about the christo-fascists such as Pence and Devos that he has surrounded himself with.

Duane,
The Donald is a fool who decided to surround himself with crypto-fascists. Pence didn’t select himself. Bannon did not put himself onto the National Security Council. Believe it or not, Duane, Trump Makes Nixon and W look like statesmen.

I prefer to call them what they are and that is christo-fascists who wish to see an xtian caliphate here in the US. They aren’t even cryptic about it anymore. They were since the 70s but it appears that they are now confident enough that they will get what they want so they aren’t hiding it anymore.

My God–on Rachel-late, she quotes from the Wall Street Journal that our intelligence services are withholding information FROM THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION because they don’t trust anyone there–because they are in bed with the Russians about whom at least some of that information is about.
It’s a case of both foreign AND domestic dangers. Where is CONGRESS?

Leaks , Leaks , Leaks , damn leaks what would anybody know without them. . As the Republican’s said during the release of the emails, its whats in them that you don’t want anybody to know that counts . The emails showed Clinton and the Democrats up for exactly what they were . To me the one that was most damning was the one that showed Obama’s first cabinet was hand picked by an officer of the most bailed out bank in the melt down .
What’s in these leaks is that the President of the United States and those around him colluded with a hostile foreign power, for personal gain and subverted an election . The most fundamental concern of Democracy is fair elections . Elections are the consent of the Governed the bedrock of Democracy .
Whats in the leaks is in the constitution.
“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. “

Wall Street Journal front page today, big article on intelligence community withholding information from Trump. Good reason. They do not trust his capacity to treat it confidentially.

While there is a lot we do not know yet about the President’s knowledge of Flynn’s interactions with the Russians … or his staff’s seemingly frequent interaction with them … what we do know is that the behavior of this administration has the potential to deeply damage how people treat each other in this country, particularly kids. As someone who spent a lifetime trying to teach kids how to appropriate deal with each other … I feared from the time Trump rode the escalator down to blaspheme Mexicans that his behavior would deeply affect how people and children in this country treat and talk to each other … and it has. Charles Blow nailed it in the Times yesterday … lying to this administration is now a credible tactic unless it backfires. I detest that we are now teaching kids by the role modeling of significant adults that spin and lies are permissible behaviors. I fear the long-term damage on our nation’s character if Republicans and Democrats alike let this behavior continue unchecked. This is no longer just about Dems defending Dems and Repubs defending Repubs (which they do ad nauseum)… we better get hold of this ship before it sinks. … Avi Poster
